Thanks for this. FYI...I have a Cricut Air Explore 2 and I was able to get similar results with 30mil magnets by creating a custom material with 350 pressure and the deep knife blade with 3x passes. It doesn't cut all the way through but it looks similar to what you get. My problem is that the sticker paper didn't seem to stick as well to my magnet sheet.
@@FreestyleTravelShop I am currently using the Avia sticker paper i got on Amazon. I might try the Online Labels one next but I like this one and the quality of print I get from it.
How do you keep the edges from lifting when you go to take the magnet off a magnetic surface. I made some and every time my nail catches the edge and the paper some what peels up from the magnet.
Does the ink fade over time? I have seen this with inkjet ink even though I use uv waterproof spray sealant? Please let me know your thoughts on this. Thanks.
Hi! Great tutorial. Have you done this with magnets that don’t have smooth edges? Most of what I cut has offset that is curvy, not solid like a circle or square. Hope that made sense.
@@FreestyleTravelShop thank you. I was asking because I currently use a cameo 4 and cannot for the life of me get 30mil magnet to cut. It maybe goes halfway through. And I’ve tried everything. I see other cricut users making magnets and I’m thinking of switching back.
My magnets sheets are not sticky - as long as the sticky sides of each are stuck together, I wouldn’t think that would be an issue. However sometimes the adhesives have a texture, so make sure that anything like that doesn’t show on the surface. Happy crafting!
Not necessarily - you can add an acrylic sealer to it to make it waterproof. The laminate helps for an occasional splash of water. Over time with repeated water contact, the ink could bleed
@@FreestyleTravelShop Thank you for answering my question. I bought 30 mm magnetic sheets then later realized you were using your cricket to cut this. I have the craft blade for the silhouette. I will order some 20 mm magnet sheets.
Hi! I went to your blog to get the links for the supplies you use. I also checked out the blog related to machine cut settings that was updated 3/31/2021 and saw that the settings for magnets is different that what you used in the video. What is the difference between cutting the thinner tooling leather with more pressure and the thicker tooling leather with more pressure? How many passes does the new setting make? Does the new setting cut completely through the magnet? Thanks
I found that using the thicker tooling leather setting was better because even though it's still slow, it's significantly faster than the thinner tooling leather setting. I think the thick setting is at 12 passes, and the thinner version was close to 20 passes!
Glossy paper is going to do that - I suggest printing on regular matte sticker paper and then adding a gloss laminate. It’s going to look the same, but will definitely print a lot easier
I haven't been able to find it on Amazon. CreativeCraftVinyl.com is one of the only places I have been able to find it where its not an industrial sized roll!
I have the HP Envy 6055 printer with the HP Instant Ink service - they automatically send you the correct ink when you're running low. If you sign up for a free month, you can pretty much get unlimited ink! instantink.hpconnected.com/us/en/l/v2?jumpid=sc_kb5n2egzi6
I am using preexisting stickers. Is there a way to scan them into the printing/cutting program to die-cut around them once they are stuck onto the magnet sheet?
I currently hand cut round and square sticker/ magnets with ease. What I am curious to know is, can the cricut machine be used to cut around intricate stickers once stuck to the magnet sheet?
That can be tough - your calibration would have to be absolutely 100% accurate. My suggestion would be to just cut the shape for the magnet and then apply the sticker on top
I'm a little confused on the list of supplies. do we need all the supplies? Magnets Weatherproof Matte Sticker Paper Oraguard 215 Laminate Film Sheets, Matte (didn't use) Oraguard 215 Laminate Film 150’ Roll, Matte 8.5”x11” 30mil Magnet Sheets Mod Podge Clear Acrylic Sealer (didn't use)

This has to be the best video for magnets. Well done
Thank you!

thanks for sharing Brad, I was just wondering if the explore could do it!

awesome video
Thanks!
Are you able to make more than 2 magnets at a time?
hi there do you make custom magnets and weather proof stickers for cars? I only have a cricut explore so i cant make them :(
Can i use regular transparent paper?
Thank you so much, this method worked so good!!!
Very informative. Thank you!

you need pigment printer if you don't want inks fading, dye printers, inks will fade.
Hi! Great tutorial. Have you done this with magnets that don’t have smooth edges? Most of what I cut has offset that is curvy, not solid like a circle or square. Hope that made sense.
Absolutely! Many of the custom order magnets I do are die-cut, the intricate cuts come out pretty well.

Perfect tutorial!! I’m sure I’ll have questions when I do these!
Also...I have magnet paper that is sticky and printer paper that is sticky. Is that correct? Looks like your magnets sheet is not sticky.

@@FreestyleTravelShop I just did one and it seemed to work ok..but my image is flat in color. I need to check my printer setting now. Thank you.
Enjoyed your video, do u always use a matt finish?
Thanks! Using matte products is just a personal preference, I feel like it gives a more professional looking product
Great!
Appreciate the video tutorial. Does the matte adhesive top prevent rain from ruining the magnet if on a vehicle? How long will it last outside?
This is my question, what do you put on top to protect it for use on a vehicle.
Not necessarily - you can add an acrylic sealer to it to make it waterproof. The laminate helps for an occasional splash of water. Over time with repeated water contact, the ink could bleed
Hi. Can the silhouette cameo 4 cut magnetos sheets?
It can, but you need the craft knife blade and thin magnet sheets (20mm or less)
@@FreestyleTravelShop Thank you for answering my question. I bought 30 mm magnetic sheets then later realized you were using your cricket to cut this. I have the craft blade for the silhouette. I will order some 20 mm magnet sheets.
Can these materials be used to make car magnets? Great video!
Thank you! Yes - but to make sure the ink doesn’t run from repeated water contact, use a sealant spray. I use the Mod Podge clear acrylic sealer
Could this be done on the Cricut joy?
The knife blade for this thickness of material is only made for the Maker, however it might be possible with a much thinner magnet sheet

I’m trying to find the oragaurd paper, but can’t find a retailer. All I find is removable contact paper :( do you have a link for the oraguard?

Can the cricut cut a name like Melody the Clown on magnet? I want to put my name on a clown car about 12 to 24 inches long on a magnet.
I've tried this and I can't get it to work. The magnetic sheet got stuck and then I tried with no laminate and it still didn't work. Any help?
Are you using the knife blade?
Can you do this with an explore
Not with magnets of this thickness because you need the knife blade. But it can do thinner magnets!
Can you tell me the thickness of the magnet?
It’s 30mil, which is .03 inches
@@FreestyleTravelShop Thnx, but isn't 0.03 inch equal to 0,7 mm?. I'm planning to cut magnet sheet with a 0.9 mm thickness (0.035 inches)
30mil is pretty much equivalent to 8mm
@@FreestyleTravelShop Ah thank you. We only use the metric system here in Netherlands, but I thank Google for telling me how much 0.03 inch is ;).
30 mil as in 3 milimeter?
No, 30mil is equal to 0.76mm
