No , charge the kids . If they are old enough to work, they can pay for damages. Have the put stipulations in the order that as follows. They go to school , get passing grades . Get a job , maintain that job , even if it means working weekends and holidays. They have to show proof of said job . Turn all earnings from said job to the court , until all fines and restitution is paid . Devide the restitution between all that are involved. And for the 12 year old , he can mow yards or etc . He just has to turn in weekly, his money along with signed statements from people he has done work for . The people would have to right a description of what was done , with the amount of hours and pay . Along with thier address and phone number. When the 12 year old is old enough to get a real job , then he can . I was taught that if you work for something you want you will appreciate it more and take better care of it . So maybe these kids might learn , what they took away from people who are working to get what they want . Was not the right thing to do . Who knows it just might make these kids turn out better. @Ryan...they are repeatedly being let out with little to no consequences! I know, as a victim of their theft back in March, I have read many articles about this. They go to court & are told they don't qualify for juvenile detention or they go to juvenile detention but escape with ankle monitors on & all....& even steal a car to leave! Yes, its a serious situation! If they are this criminal minded now, what will they be like after 18?! Out city's future ain't looking too good smh.
