I remember when I was a kid I used to set the bass on full on the head unit with the loudness on in my parents car, this was before subwoofers were commonly used "late 90s" and the speakers sounded decent until after a year the head unit would display "Too Hot" when the volume was turned up just a bit then the speakers eventually lost bass. The speakers still worked but no bass just mid range and the car stereos built in amp was more likely faulty by that time as well. The car was scrapped by 2002 so it didn't really matter anyway.
sometimes. if its not too bad. you can play with the speaker (if the cone is made of a strong enough material) bending the cone in the worst direction of the scraping to try to get it to stop. by trying to bend the coil back into shape a little at a time until it stops scraping I did it with a cheapo speaker and it fixed it. but it also depends on the type of coil former material. if its too flexible it might not work. but sometimes you can tighten the spider on one side or the other with a special permanent clip that aligns the coil if its not too bad.
I had a sub that did this. I applied pressure (with my hand) to the edge of the cone that made the sound louder while playing 50 hertz or so. Basically filing down the area that was rubbing against the magnet. 👍It worked!
@my Stoner Mind.....I think that sound was coming from the cone touching the tweeter's plastic housing due to lack of excursion maybe....???......That's just my thought....btw nice video....
hey my stoner mind my diy speakers also seemed to have that same problem thet are towered bookshelf speakers and both sides have a distorted, the speaker are 5W 4ohm paper cone, 4 fullrange driver coonect w/out any capacitors in the smaller one and the amp is 50w per channel but it is going rms about 15W per channel but could u tell if the problem is going on the driver or the amp pls tell me.ty
At this point it needs a recone . Just rip and tear. I've never reconned a three way 6x9. The former is warped.......the cardboard tube the coil is " formed" around went out of round due to over traveling and heat.😏
you might like the video I've linked in the description if you disliked this one :D
bamboozled
dont dislike disdislike
The red part is called a spider
That Doug Bernards reference gave me a chuckle
The mention of Garret and the vid insert of Doug is just great.

Spider of your speaker that keeps it in place

That red thing on the speaker is called an arachnid.

LOL
speaker-ception with those micro speakers inside xD
Great videos man 👍
love your vids!!
Its a spider dude, and nice video 🤙
I know what it's called, a lot of people saying it's a spider have misunderstood what I've said 😂
@@MyStonerMind420 oh okay i see 😂 maybe i was little bit stoned
It might have been how the cone was glued on the basket, because one side was barely stuck down and the other side was hard to get unstuck.
Maybe the plastic cone softened from overheating and got skewed.
Yes another amazing video made a amazing RUclipsr
I went to that first website you said about and all I got was pictures and vids of Rafas mother. Im not complaining, im just confused.

I would disconnect the speakers and test them individually to find out if it is the speakers or amp. It is hard to just guess like this.
@@MyStonerMind420 yell i found the issue and the drivers are quite stuck maybe it is from the coil but it is more affected on the cone region i guess
The red thing is called the spider
8:21 That my man is called spider it hold the speaker just so it can’t do that much of a noice
You can still blow it out. Do the volcano effect
Snip them tweets off at the cone on both vibe 6×9 speakers and send em to me lol
isn't blowing a speaker up how re coning start most of the time?
Nah
If you want voice coil debris in your air gap...
