I love when he talks about his brothers.
Think about this for a second. This is a huge family, mainly of BLACK men. Not one true scandal. Not one of them has humiliated the name. Largely unscathed as a collective. The Wayans are remarkable as a family and as individuals and Marlon is my personal favorite ❤ A true comedic dynasty.

I remember when Michael Jackson died and they redid the BET Awards in his honor, Marlon said to Joe Jackson that if it weren’t for the Jacksons, there would be no Wayans. And it hit me; the Wayans are lowkey the Jacksons of comedy and film. Like they’re all highly successful in everything they do and they’re legends in this game.

"Not ALL of your dreams & goals are meant to be attained. They are meant to be pursued, so you can become the person you need to be, for something down the line you don't even know or feel about yet. It's in the journeys YOU ARE LIVING, not the destinations." And in closing...relax. BE in being the 'being" more often than not. 🌱

when he asked Charla “do you have any pointers?” i feel like that is one of those things that sets him apart, the diff btw him & many others who wish they could reach his level of success
it’s not shameful to ask someone who’s more experienced in some specific field, for pointers,
& there is always always something to learn even if you are the professional dancer at a beginning ballet class-for example
🙂 always love his interviews! 🙌

I laugh and learn how shift the perspective to move forward in the journey we call life and when it comes to family. Marlon’s special was funny! I can’t wait for the documentary about the Wayans because they have made a impact in Hollywood and continue to have a ripple affect.

12:56 I appreciate everything Marlon said here because I’ve been wanting to be a writer and write movies since I was a teen, and I have an older brother who writes professionally right now but mostly in the journalism space. Growing up, every time I would tell him about a story idea that I had, he would always tell me that I couldn’t do it or that it’s already been done. One time, I told him about an idea I had for an action movie and he straight tore into me about it because rap music played a big role in it and I felt passionate about the idea. It was basically something similar to that movie Baby Driver and when that movie dropped, he wouldn’t stop talking about how much he loved it and I resented him for it. So I started thinking he was either jealous or just hated my creativity and I got bitter about it for a very long time. Hearing Marlon go through the same thing and how he handled it inspires me now to stick to my dreams.
