I played it through once, ONCE. And it was a SLOG. I kept asking myself "WHEN will it be over?" I stuck it out and finished it and the only satisfaction I had was that it was finally over. If you felt RE5 was Michael Bay, then RE6 is Michael Bay on steroids! Recently, I went back to try and play it again, and I just couldn't even finish Leon's campaign. I never even got out of the first building. QTEs are abused beyond anything that RE5 or RE4 did. And slogging through and replaying various areas where each story melds in with the others was just awful. The stories dragged on, and in the end, I still felt like "What was that? THAT wasn't RE at all!" Resident Evil Revelations for me was the exact same way. "When will it be over". Revelations 2 I enjoyed much better, but the episodic platform for both just ripped me out of the game as it interrupted the flow of the game. RE6 is Call of Duty with "zombies".
      Once again, great content!

Try the Mercs mode, that's the real meat and potatoes of the game and where the gameplay truly shines. You're not using even half the fancy and technical moves in your playthrough for which I don't blame you; the gameplay and level design are atrociously at odds with each other until you jump into mercs where the maps are optimized for maximum player control. The closest thing to a John Wick game if you play it right.

@@shaquiberaihan6212 I'm not into Mercenaries at all. I have played it a few times throughout all the different RE games and I just don't enjoy it. I hate "timed" or "score-based" events like that. I play RE for the exploration, puzzle solving and the story itself, not some "Call of Duty" type of game. Not crapping on those that like Mercs, but I'm a single -player person. I don't like co-op, and I like to play at my own pace. RE6 is the worst of all the mainline RE games for me and for many. It's NOT Resident Evil. It's Call of Duty with zombies in it. That was the crowd they were catering to and Capcom all but admitted to it. Call of Duty was the big thing when this was released and that's why it is the way it is.
In the end, Mayo gives multiple concrete and specific reasons why he didn't like this game, and they completely match up with my assessment when I played this game many years ago. I forced myself to finish it, as stated in my OP, because I'm just a completionist. There have only been very few games that I refused to complete because they were so bad IMHO. But, it took me forever to complete this game and it felt like it. It's all action and and it's non-stop. It's draining and gets old. And the QTEs are abused beyond anything I've seen since. Thank GOD Capcom listened when they release RE 7. Even RE Village has some QTEs but they're not as prevelant and abused as they are in RE6.
Also, RE 6's UI is confusing and changing it from character to character just makes you have to learn the UI all over again. It's a mess. I get they were trying, at least in Leon's case, to go with an iPhone type interface with the icons, but it's confusing and even for game and system settings, items are buried in so deep and hard to find that it's just bad UI design.

The Simmons/Ada/Carla triangle is the finest piece of writing in human history. Ada rejects Simmons, which prompts him into attempting to turn other women into a perfect clone of Ada. After 10,000+ tries, he finally succeeds on his assistant Carla. Carla is so infuriated about being turned into an asian, that she decides to destroy the world, starting with China.

It's a very sad game to play alone... but lots of fun with a partner!
The combat system is awesome. I either engage with knife/melee combat with Chris, do quickscopes with Piers - you can toggle the camera to the other shoulder back and forth and it cancels the animations of snipers, shotguns and magnums, so you unload them very quickly for massive dps - Helena's shoot-dodging the sawed-off shotgun, Ada's crossbow backflip shot, and dodging overall is fast-paced and flows well: we don't have i-frames, so we have to time it right. Even having Jake trade blows with the Ustanak feels nice. Same as RE5, you can/must open your inventory and combine whatever needs to be combined in-between animations, so you climb up a ladder, combine ammo with its respective weapon, and you come up ready to go full clip.
Even nowadays, you can find people playing it online, so we can grind through those poor action and stealth sequences. I love Chris' 2nd/Jake's 1st chapter so much, the winter guerrilla warfare atmosphere feels good. It's not just nostalgia, I've beat 5 and 6 again in split-screen co-op with my brother just a couple of years ago, it was fun =)

Interesting how you comment about re 6’s combat while never showcasing you doing the dodges, parries and repositioning using the crawling movements. I think re6 provided the mechanics for a super high ceiling movement based combat gameplay. The movement was also what got me through professional mode (couldn’t beat no hope because it limits your stamina to 5). I surly love your reviews, and I agree with pretty much all the points you made in this video, but to not address the phenomenal movement system in this game was a missed opportunity to say the least.

What I love about RE 5 and why it’s my 4th best Resident Evil game in the entire franchise is because of the journey Chris Redfield went on.
The game’s story basically shows that he and Jill both found the people that they set out to find and put an end to after all the suffering that those people put them, their comrades, and so many city folk through.
Finding the actual Oswald E. Spencer in his mansion was the actual endgame for both Chris and Jill because Spencer was THE Umbrella Corporation and all of it’s monsters, and they had to arrest or kill him for all the crimes he and Umbrella committed.
Wesker also wanted Spencer for his own reasons and he happened to confront Chris and Jill, and after that we all know what happened.
Chris and Jill had grown as characters up to that point, they went from scared and inexperienced with an infected, undead and BOW types, only to survive and become experienced with all of the horrors that Umbrella created.
They even created and trained teams of other soldiers to be able to fight back against the viral experiments that Umbrella created, and we get to see and meet many of those other soldiers and trainees throughout other RE games in the franchise, with Chris crossing paths with Shiva who is one of them in RE 5.
Since Wesker came out of the shadows and brought the beginning stages of his plan to fruition, Chris and Shiva uncovered some of those plans which led them to his whereabouts and it would be the very end of Chris Redfield’s journey to not only put an end to Spencer and Umbrella, but mainly Albert Wesker, the one man that has been a major threat looming all around him, his friends, allies, and family throughout the entire franchise history.
That’s one of the main reasons why I love RE 5 so much, the gameplay, guns, graphics and soundtrack are just more awesome ingredients with it.
As for RE 6, the story may be crazy all around, but it is so much fun to play, I don’t get bored at all whenever I decide to play it.

I think we spent five minutes just action diving down some stairs because of how absurd it looked. But there's a thin line between "absurd" and "stupid," and if I had been playing it in singleplayer I think I would have felt the same way you do. Schlocky B-movies are a lot more fun to watch as a group and the same attitude applies to RE6 I think.

ppl dont even understand the ambitious small features for 3rd person shooting in RE6.. i always hated cover system in games like gears of war but RE6 has perfect soft lock cover mechanics where you cna aim and just move up to cover wile holding the aim button and the character transitions very well then your aim control automatically tracks around the edges of the cover and as soon as you let go of the aim button you aren't stuck to the cover anymore and have very good control using it fluidly with regular jittery strafe style gameplay
the second shooting mechanic i find is pretty major and impressive to me is the backwards lunge then aiming wile on your back lets you avoid boss attacks or numerous enemies surprising you and you can either squeeze in last second shots if time is a factor or help an ally wile needing to protect yourself or roll to safety.. even the rolling around feels responsive like a satisfying move from die hard or a Jon Wu action movie

"RE5 was like RE4 without the horror"
So like RE4? The Island section of that game was basically dumb blockbuster city. It's a section RE4 fans don't like talking about much like the Jedi and the story of Darth Plagueis.
I do think RE6 is the most mechanically accomplished RE even if the overall structure and game design is a mess. An RE game without contextual dodging is a game I welcome after all since Capcom has a hard on for contextual dodge commands.
I don't think RE6 is a good or bad game, it's middle of the road then again, on the internet you either love or hate a game since emotion gets you views.

I'm sad to hear that you didn't enjoy the game. I understand your issues about the campaigns, which are focused on mindless action and QTEs. However, I'd like to suggest trying out the Mercenaries mode, especially on "No Mercy".
This game mode can truly push you in the "FUN ZONE" as it requires you to utilize all your weapons, engage in melee attacks, move fast and more. ( I played more than 400 hours only in this gamemode)
What makes the Mercenaries mode particularly enjoyable is the variety of strategies you can employ for each type of enemy you encounter. This dynamic aspect adds depth to the gameplay, offering a fresh and engaging experience that differs from the main campaigns. Give it a try please and you might discover a whole new level of experience in the game. (and remember to change the FOV, there is an option in the settings menu)

While Resi 6 has it down sides (the controls, inventory and the camera can be messy for sure), the gameplay is quite enjoyable with a lot of various enemy types.

Im not saying this game is amazing but its not terrible either. Doesnt help that you just dove in head first on Veteran difficulty with no understanding of the gameplay mechanics. These games are designed for new game plus runs on higher difficulties and or brand new playthroughs only when you've already mastered the game for speed running. RE4 Remake itself was jarring on hardcore for a first run. RE6 has a low skill floor, where you can get a basic understanding of what to do in a few hours but has a high skill ceiling where you can run through No Hope difficulty on a fresh save and win on skill alone. Also you have a problem with Ada? Really? Her voice actor, character, and dynamic with Leon is far better here than RE2make and ESPECIALLY RE4make. But its like you sarcastically said yourself "you didn't give it a chance."

I was one of the seemingly few RE fans who liked RE6 a lot. I still think it's a great game, although the biggest "issue" people had with it I can agree with which is the fact that it's just not a scary, survival horror game. There are many other aspects that I found worked for the game well, like character control and maneuverability, which I saw many criticize. I enjoyed coming back to the same sections as different characters too because the feeling of being in the other characters' shoes worked for me. It didn't feel exactly like repeating the same thing over, even if that was what it was. Then there was the part where the game would take control away from you to show you something, but I found it to be a negligible issue.
I played it a lot when it came out on 360, going through it on normal with every character, then on professional with every character, and then some. Then I went through on normal just once with all the characters when it came out on PS4. That all said, I am kind of glad it failed with fans because we probably wouldn't have gotten RE7, which is probably my second favorite RE, but that's hard to say. The only mainline RE game I didn't care for was Resident Evil Zero, but honestly, I wasn't enthralled with the recent RE2/3 remakes and liked but was disappointed with Village and RE4 Remake.

Ok, so last time I was here, I just made a short comment saying to try this game out with a controller and nothing more. Now I’m gonna explain why I think this is a good game, and why this game deserves to be called a Resident Evil game.
The problem with RE6 is that it never gave you a proper tutorial that explains the mechanics and how they work, or came with a training mode that allowed you to experiment and discover the mechanics yourself. Because once you look into how the mechanics work online and try them out yourself, RE6 becomes an insanely fun action shooter with some depth to its combat, that I’ve never seen put in any other third person shooter (Vanquish comes a little close). And I’m super glad that RE4make brought back some of RE6 mechanics, even giving Leon a handgun that was cut from RE6.
The key to RE6s combat is to manage your stamina and to not stop moving. You can’t over rely on melee because your stamina will run out quick, so you have to mix up shooting and melee attacks. Laying on the ground can get your stamina back faster, you can swap between weapons with the D-pad to cancel animations, and each character actually plays differently from each other. Leon is the all rounder, and is the easiest character to understand, so I recommend starting with him, either in mercenaries or the campaign.
And as for RE6 “not being an RE game”, RE has always been goofy and cheesy, even before RE4 came along. With characters doing quips, facing off against monsters with ridiculous scientific reasons behind their existence, ludicrous puzzles, a guy who’s blood lights on fire and can run on walls (Code Veronica), over the top heroes and villains, and characters surviving crap that would kill a normal human being. Even the RE 3D animated movies support this, with characters doing gun fu and Chris not getting paralyzed after being thrown against a wall. So yea, RE isn’t as scary as people make it out to be. If you want an actual scary survival horror game, play Silent Hill, pretty sure that franchise has better scares than Resident Evil ever has.

And for Re lore and story, i'm deep into the franchise i know RE6 doesn't have the best story but let's not act like Resident evil didn't always have some goofy story or voice acting, there is so many weird moment in this franchise you can't count on one hand.

I played RE6 and enjoyed it enough despite the issues but it's one of those play once then never touch again kinda games for me personally. Leon campaign was my favorite though I remember.

I actually tried to play this piece of trash twice, once solo, once in couch coop. Couldn't stand it for longer than a couple hours both times. My friend hated it too. Cant wait to watch this video.
EDIT: Haha, me and my friend quit the game on the same stupid giant monster fight that Mayo quit the 3rd campaign on as well. Truly an awful fight.

One problem is that you’ve taken this game way too seriously. This game is mainly a chore when I decide to do RE marathons but it’s fun when I have a friend to play with.

Not playing as sherry means you miss out on an amazing plot hole. It’s revealed after a helicopter crash where she is impailed with a large chunk of metal that would totally kill any normal person…..that when jake removes it, she has fuckin wolverine like healing factor. Yet in spite of this she STILL NEEDS HEALING ITEMS?????? Fucking what? Oh ya massive chunk of jagged metal imbedded in her, no problem that will barely slow her down. A few little bullets or scratches though and she dies.

Wouldn't it be just the thing if someone paid the 2000 dollars only to annoy you, not because they liked the game?
