    Maybe you should install some wire fencing around the tiny pond so the dogs can't get to it. I really would love to see the pond flourish without being disturbed by the dogs.

    "That's why I need some fish, to make sure there's no swinger parties, in my back yard" 😂🤣🤣🤣🤣
    Edit* I get all the water out of my pond to clean it, with the pump. I keep it running and take the tube and let the water run out on the plants.
    That way your not breaking your back. Work smarter. Not harder. Lol!
    (New subscriber- I'm stalking all your videos 😂)

    I put goldfish in my pond. They eat the skeeters and are cold hardy. Being zone 6, I used water lily for my plant along with water lettuce and water hyacinth. I also got a water buttercup and another plant that isn’t cold hardy. I needed something to shade the water. For pond sludge, there is a natural barley you can sprinkle in your pond to eat up the dead algae the fish don’t get to.

    Good job, though, and a good practice for creating a pond. Though I recall you saying in your last vid that you didn’t want a water feature that was too big in case you have little ones eventually running around. I’m from Nova Scotia and our water feature ponds freeze over, but if the pond is deep enough the Koi fish stay alive under the layer of ice. I don’t know how, but they do. Obviously they must be hardy enough to survive low water temps. They have fish in the arctic after all.

    Ayyyy looks good! Btw I have a patio pond a little smaller than yours with a little less plants. I’ve had two goldfish in it for a year and have never fed them once! They completely sustain themselves and forage constantly. Also they only grew about 3-4 inches, I believe because their hormones build up in the water and keep them from outgrowing their environment. You’ll probably never have to remove them man, you good! I’m excited to see how it goes. Thanks for the update! Erth is mah plahnet ✊

    • @paulplantu
      @paulplantu  Год назад +1

      What?! That's awesome! The may be growing slower because they're not being fed as regularly. I'm working on a patio pond right now!

    • @garden_creature
      @garden_creature Год назад +1

      The hormone thing is a myth. Most goldfish grow about an inch per year on average, so it sounds like they're actually growing quickly haha

  • @bkscam
    @bkscam Год назад

    Great video… I’m going to do mine over today. I had problems with water clarity and this video is genius. One question though, after the you put the top soil and the sand, before you put the rocks in you added something else. What was it?

  • @TheJake76
    @TheJake76 Год назад

    Goldfish are substrate sifters, all that topsoil in the bottom is going to get pulled up into your water column.

    • @paulplantu
      @paulplantu  Год назад +3

      It’ll have to dig through a solid layer of gravel and then 2 inches of sand. If it becomes an issue I’ll just move em
