- We took a full look at the 2022 Stealth Nomad 22FK Toyhauler. We were on the search for a 1/2 ton towable Toyhauler that could fit our long travel Polaris RZR Pro XP, that's much wider than the new Pro R. If it fits our machine, it will definitely fit yours. Now... What did we need to do to make it fit?

I’ve seen a few videos where they rotate the jack controls 90* which gives clearance for your tailgate. It’s a pretty simple modification and should allow you to put in bigger propane tanks as well.

Tongue weight on these put them out of most half ton towable range FYI. For example, I have a 2023 GMC Sierra 1500 with the 3.0 Duramax and the rated max tongue weight is 880, tongue weight of a FK22 steel is 937 before you put anything in it. Only way around this for my truck is if you get the max tow package.

Half tons are small trucks to tow something like this but in today's world of sales and maxing out specs 1500 get a high tow rating. It's always the tongue weight that kills not the total load being pulled. hear you though
F-150 has a min towing capacity of 10,000 lbs and up to 14,500 lbs depending on which engine you have
I think your video was great. You took time to show details that we all think about before buying. So many of my friends have nice trailers from toy haulers to class b. It's nice to have more features but they all say less is better because you have less issues. I also have 1/2 ton and finding the right toy hauler for it that accommodates your needs is tough. The Nomad is at the top of my list. It just seems for the price, you don't get as much as others. The FK model is great for space but it has almost no storage. It would be nice to have a clothing cabinet so your not living out of a bag. Then you look at the dorm room fridge and you ask yourself, how can we store enough food to last more than 3 nights. Little things like these are something I would regret if I bought this unit. The FB does solve these but then your weights are slightly more and toy space is reduced. Everything in life has a value and when I break down the build cost based on the FK, it's way overpriced. All the fixtures from sink, fridge, shower, heater, AC, tv, tanks and everything else is no more than 4k in material cost. How does someone pay 35-45k for something that only cost 10-12k to build. I'd like to hear your opinion on unit to price value comparison
Thanks for taking the time to write such an awesome question! You're absolutely correct about the lack of storage in the FK. We've managed to put a few command hooks on the walls where we hang our jackets and hats, and we've found a small, lightweight dresser on amazon (amzn.to/3vf7vJ5) that we put right below the TV. Additionally, the bunk bed has a bit of extra room at the foot of the bed where we can put our suitcases and extra blankets. For the two of us, we've been able to make the trailer fairly comfortable, but it does feel cluttered when we need to take extra clothing for different weather conditions. It works for what it is, and considering the lack of options that fit our machine while staying 1/2 ton towable, we know we need to make a few sacrifices. We use the area under the rear bed to store bikes, coolers, tools, etc... We still take an extra cooler for our food and drinks. In fact, our fridge hasn't worked since we brought it home (it won't work on propane and we can't seem to get the dealer to get it fixed).
The build-quality of these stealth trailer is rushed and incomplete. I understand the influx of trailer demand throughout the pandemic, but there are a lot of warranty issues that need to be sorted out with the trailer. I don't think ANY trailers are worth the prices they are selling for these days. It's embarrassing when you spend $42k on a trailer, and things don't work the way they should. Would I purchase this trailer again? Yes... However, I would do a much more thorough walkthrough with the dealer to ensure EVERYthing is taken care of prior to taking delivery. These trailers serve a purpose. Small, with a ton of space for machines. Not many other options out there.
Our tailer problems: Cabinets don't close and lock in place. Awning installed incorrectly and does not stow all the way against the trailer. Holding tank gauges don't work. Fridge won't run on propane.
@@GrizzlyHabits Thanks for the feed back. It's very unfortunate that you're having these problems and it's more aggravating as a customer that it takes so much of your personal time to get things fixed through warranty. You almost need to be an A-hole to get things done. I feel the only way to get your money's worth these days is to rip the dealer a new one while negotiating but even that is a pain and takes up more of our valuable time. I guess the moral of this is we all need specifics met based on what and how we use these trailers. Find a couple that will work and take the best deal a dealer will give, even if it's states away.

I have the same trailer and color. I like the features you described and have a RZR as well. The negatives I have to this trailer/camper. The exterior dings easily and is not that durable. Also, I am not sure how long the screwless exterior will last and that worries me. I have already had a few spots come unglued that I had to fix. Not sure if you have experienced this issue with yours or not. The warranty department is tough to get ahold of so be prepared. One last thing is the attention to detail on the inside. It was put together fast and without much quality measures. All in all it gets the job done. Thanks for the video!
I agree with everything you mentioned. We’re already trying to chase some warranty issues. They’re definitely thrown together quickly and have minor issues.

Hey Phil, thanks for watching. The Machine in the back is a 2022 Polaris ProXP 4 w/ HCR Long Travel and +1 Hubs, sitting on XComp 35x10.5x15 tires.
Great video, very informative. What's the weight of the trailer not including your side by side? Also how has towing been with a half ton?
I don't know if you've even tried it or not but I pulled pro XP4 nose in, and it take some of that tongue weight off my truck and it tows so much better because these trailers are tongue heavy anyway also and I tow with a half ton Denali truck. Just a FYI
Hey Matt, we did pull our ProXP in forward, but unfortunately we had some sway. It was bad enough that we stopped, and turned the rzr around. We didn't have as much luck. Pulling it in backwards does seem to work.

Awesome review. How does it tow? Heard previous models had a lot of sway. Looking into the same one to haul my pro xp as well
I heard a rumor that they've improved the axles and axle location for the 2022 models. That being said, I originally pulled the RZR in forward, and only made it 1.5 hours away from home before pulling over to reorganize things. After backing the RZR in, it pulled much better for the remaining 2.5 hours of driving. Then, on the way home, we loaded a few more things into the front of the trailer, filled the fresh water 1/2 full, and adjusted the equalizer hitch to be a bit stiffer. Once we made all of the modifications and got it loaded properly, the trailer towed perfectly in 25+ MPH winds. You definitely need to take the time to load it properly, but once you get it dialed in, it works well. Towing w/ a 1/2 ton GMC Sierra 1500 AT4X.

Underneath the trailer, all those wiring harnesses seem to be dangling awfully low. Have you been modifying things or did it come like that? I've had harnesses ripped out on the Alaska-Canada highway before and it was a nightmare.
I happened to pick up the trailer in 12 degree, iced-out temperatures, and the wiring was mess. It's currently being fixed by the dealership under warranty. So, no it's not supposed to look like that and we're currently getting it resolved. Good catch!
Not sure switching to 6v is an upgrade...Just go with a Battle Born 270ah 12v and have almost 3 batteries in one!

Whats your payload? I am looking into a similar setup, from what I read you calculate 15% of total weight of trailer which GVWR of 9900 would be 1485 hitch weight?
My payload is approximately 1,300lbs, and the tongue weight is close to 950.
Does the trailer stay cool during the summer and warm during the winter? Wanted to know what the insulation was like on this trailer.
With the AC running in the summer and the heat running in the winter, it can hold the temperature. However, once you turn those off, the trailer doesn’t hold the temperature as well as a standard well-insulated travel trailer. It’s definitely more of a luxury enclosed than a travel trailer. Out heat or AC are constantly running.

Is it all aluminum is it insulated? Could you drag in down a gravel or dirt road wo much concern?
I don't believe it's insulated. We've stayed in below freezing temperatures and the heater is powerful enough to keep things warm. As far as towing down a gravel/dirt road, we do that all the time. Other than a few rock chips on the black v-nose, all went well.

This exact trailer was $42,900. I never actually got a detailed cost breakdown from the dealership, and they're priced all over the place depending on what dealer you go to. We most likely overpaid for it.
There is also ATC, they are completely aluminum, so lighter.
Stealth also makes an aluminum version that saves about 800#’s. If i were to do it again, I’d definitely go all aluminum.
@@GrizzlyHabits I do not know the cost difference, but I do know ATC is very expensive, I own the 2019 28FB. It is fully optioned out, like the Pro is today, but they are about 20K more now than when I got mine. The torsion axles make ATC tow like a dream I will say. All of them will have a better resale than regular campers I would think.
@@troytaylor1123 It was a pretty hefty price difference from the steel frame to the aluminum frame. About $10k if I remember. My trailer is a fully optioned out 22FK, and we paid roughly ~$40k. There aren't any dealers in Utah (or there weren't at the time) so we had to drive 12+ hours to pick this trailer up, so added cost of fuel and a nights stay at the RV park in Cody, Wyoming. In my opinion, it's super overpriced for what you get, but I also understand supply chain shortages and cost increases through the pandemic... I'd be very curious to get my hands on the ATC to do a comparison or a review.
How does the AT-4X pull it? I have one and have the 6.2
It does great. It’s definitely on the border of needing 3/4 ton, but very impressed. I have another video on my channel showing how the truck does towing this setup.

Just came across your video. Nice toyhauler. You stated your Pro XP long travel is wider then a Pro R. What’s the width of yours? My Pro R 4 real world is 76” wide.
Yes, my ProXP has long travel and +1” ZRP Billet Hubs. My width is 81". We need to remove
One of the couches to fit. Your machine being 76” wide will fit perfectly in the 22FK.

How much does the trailer weigh dry ?
And how much cargo lbs can it hold?
This specific model with AC, Heat, shower, etc… has a dry weight of 7,000lbs and a GVWR of 9,990lbs. They aluminum version is approximately 850lbs lighter.

Im not quite sure what you mean? The ac is roof mounted, electric. Are you referring to the exhaust when we load the rzr into the trailer?

It's just between 80-81" depending on how full the tires are.
Cool video, just seems it lacks storage for clothes, supplies etc. 7000 lbs seems a lot for such a bare bones hauler.
It’s definitely more of a weekender trip. We’ve found it easy to take a carryon suitcase that we live out of. We store it on the bed when we’re not sleeping. But you’re absolutely correct.
This is NOT a half ton towable trailer. The half ton trucks max out below 10,000lbs and the payload is too low to handle the tongue weight which should be on the truck.
Correct - I covered all of the numbers this truck is capable of in the video.
Nothing on the website has a price, not even the cargo trailers. Have to talk to a salesman for anything

Haha it was more of a recommendation for those who’ve never gone camping before. Sometimes there’s better things to take than others. I never thought to take popcorn, but it’s actually a perfect easy camping hack.

I am assuming the name comes from the fact that it appears to be a standard enclosed trailer, but upon further investigation it's actually a livable toyhauler. Just a guess tho. So, in that manner, Stealth makes sense... But yes, in your manner - it's not very "Stealthy" haha.
