The BEST and most underrated 5.3LS is the *05-06 LH6*. It's THE aluminum block gen 3/4 in-betweener. It came w a gen 3 24x reluctor wheel for easy wiring, but also got the much beefier gen 4 rods and high volume oil pump.
    LS swap the world.

Factory oil pumps are already made by melling, and also, dont widdle with high pressure oil pumps, go with high volume pumps. Pumps pump volume, not pressure. Pressure is resistance to the volume being pumped.

I can attest they are indestructible in street form no coolant, (over heated so many times but never blew up before I fixed the radiator) never changed the oil, (mainly because it changed itself thanks due to an oil leak) it just kept going, heck never used an air filter why bother the carbon build up was catching most of the dirt anyway. The TRX that T-boned me was the only reason the 2001 POS Suburban was put out to pasture finally. Welp here I am a LS GM fan but let’s bring it back down to earth here guys the when GM decided to put AFM/DOD on the Gen. 4 motors that really created some issues with the LS power plant I’m currently working out how I plan to do the AFM DOD delete on my Gen. 4 it doesn’t seem to be that big a deal my issue is finding person to tune the AFM DOD out of the computer if I decide to go with a stage 1 cam apparently if a guy just puts a stock cam back in the motor you can just get a OBD box idk I’m still trying to figure that out as far as gen. 5 motors not much in the way of affordable after market support I’m sure as time goes on that will change but even still my research has shown the gem. 5 motors are the worst with the AFM DOD destroying the motor reports of motors in the Gen. 5 category smoking them selfs after 30000 miles it’s so bad GM is being sued over it idk after all the reliable miles from my gen. 3 to go out find a nice gen. 4 and learn about how bad the AFM DOD really is it just put a bad taste in my mouth all together this is with me doing the full delete I’m looking at probably 1800 bucks hopefully
