I’m glad I continued research and found this exact video so I know what’s gonna happen... Difficult to fix this... my 2012 is clunky shifting and I’m sure it’s because of this...
Clip removal is like a horror movie where the victims make bad decisions and leave us in suspense thinking NO dont do it that way. Shaft sat there overnight and could have had the penetrating oil then instead of 1 sec bf removal
There is a trick by giving the caps a light inward squeeze in the vice to unload them from the lock rings. Put a small nut in on opposite caps and give the whole thing a squeeze in the vice or press. The caps will move in a bit and it takes the crappy load off the lock rings. You can also do it with an anvil or vice hit and a good drift. Your not saving any of the guts so cap damage doesn't matter.
Dude!!!!, you hit me in the eye with that c clamp.

Any good motor shop can do this for you--?
Thank You brother! Great video.
Now I'm wondering if I should have this done as preventive maintenance.
Thanks Elin,,,,,
If my tr6 needs u-joints,,,I may just tackle it myself,,,
You see, it is not that complicated
Yup, all six of them! At least they are all the same part number.
Good morning my friend from up North I will leave a like and continue watching Have a great weekend
thanks!
The entire rear end assy is the axle. The "axles" are axle shafts.
Good to know! Thanks! My terminology still sucks :)
Very persistent! Reminds me of another video of yours -- I think it was the Spitfire rear wheel bearings that gave you so much trouble.
Yeah, but it was fun :)

Some PB blaster or acetone+ATF mix.

That salt does a number on parts. You never see rusty prop shafts like that down here in the South.
Thanks, that is a good trick. I will remember it for the next time!
well done elin, but wot a cold hole canada looks lol
Yeah, the weather is playing all kinds of games. I had my Spitfire out twice already and I even took the bike out the other day and now snow...
Only valid for a 4WD Escape.
Well, of course, you can't replace a u-joint if there isn't one :)
first from England
