Love your videos. We are restoring a 1981 Westfali and a 1975 bug. But also we camp with a Teardrop camper. Wish we could get the camper van here in the USA.
Gread idea and video. These LED strips are easy to cut to length and resolder if you have some soldering experience. I have replaced all the tubes in our caravan with warm white LEDs. Have been to enough parties as a DJ, found Chris Evans in the audience one night! :D So didn't go for RGB.
One of the first things we did was fit this style of lighting. We use a dim orange light at night before bedtime. Really relaxing or you can set it for a disco :-)
The idea of the intro 🤣👍. Great video. 💡 are looking awesome although I have to admit I liked the fairy lights even more. Please please stay creative 😀
I was searching for Led Strip videos, and found this vid. At the end 8:32, I laughed out loud in shame and in shock. It was my idiotic music that I made for Epidemic Sound waaaay back, that came out of the speaker. Funny! :)
Fantastic video, love the strip lighting - a bit like Philips Hue. Out of interest is your camera microphone working ok, sounds a bit pesky when you get too close to Lizzy
Hi. Loving all the Videos. I get my first new California in 2 weeks. So excited! Can I ask what the lighting kit cost and all these months on has it held in place well?
Great video as always, love your channel! I have two unrelated question about the Cali. Firstly, I saw that Webasto makes a diesel powered cooker. I’m wondering if you have considered replacing the propane cooker with a diesel one? The benefit is you’d have one fuel source for the whole van, no more propane. Not sure how well it works though. Secondly have you considered adding in solar panels and if so does the Cali come prewired for it or would that be a huge undertaking? Keep up the great work!!!
wonder if you can control it from your phone. used to have a system with same remote and bridge, but with bulbs. mi-lights it was called. i don't like on the hand remote the on is on the left and off is on the right. it should be the opposite....
Just a small question: Have you ever had to change the lights in your pop-up tent, and if so, how does one go about it (screwdriver to unhinge light cover etc.) ? Many thanks in advance.
Great video but the only ‘problem’ if you’re shooting a video in the van with those lights as your primary illumination is the strobe effect you get from LEDs. It was quite noticeable in the final scene. I think a career in telly beckons for Lizzie.
I have done this in my 1991 T4 california. I use a cheap strip and attached my own 12v plug. Works fine but I find that as the sun bakes my van and it gets really hot insode, the strip sometimes comes off... Do you have the same issue?
Don't leave them on RED for too long else your going to be having strangers knocking on your van ;-). I bought some cheap ones of eBay and although the actual lights were OK the PSUs (230v to 12v) that came with them were not (and a fire hazard) 🔥. They were both ok for a few months when suddenly one started making the lights flicker and the other went with a massive bang. I opened it up and it was all black inside :(. So buyer beware of buying cheap !
Love Bentley’s face (at 8:36) ... he’s biggin’ it up wiv the Cali massiivvee!!!
That was a great intro, nailed down the olden days film look and sound. Those RGB light are awesome, looks like a pro instal.
Thanks :-)

Yeah it's a shame they don't sell them over there! Your Westfali sounds epic though!
Nice work...love the remote...

That is a great product! Well demonstrated! The dog scene was funny 😉
Retro Renovations Bentley always steals the limelight 😂
Hi Lizzy. Fantastic bit of kit it you down to a T. How many people can you have in the Cali disco 💃. Glitter ball in the popup roof ✨🌟✨🌈
Looking good there. That's worked out quite well. Bentley didn't seem fazed by the lights.
I'm not convinced he really knew what was going on
Forget ‘can you do Christmas in a van’, I’m waiting for ‘can you have a rave in a van’ 😂😂 Lights look fab Lizzy 👍😎
Or, Can you have a Christmas Rave in the van?!?!? 🤔 ....maybe too far 😂
Sooooooo cooool!! Want one 😎

Magnus Melander 😂 what were the chances of you finding your own song. Thanks though! I think it worked well!

The rave scene ....YES !!!!!😁
Just need glow sticks :-)
Hi. Loving all the Videos. I get my first new California in 2 weeks. So excited! Can I ask what the lighting kit cost and all these months on has it held in place well?
Yeah it’s held great! I think the kit is about £55 but you’d have to ask at Aten Lighting and they’ll give you the actual price. 😊

Great video love the lights .where did you get your vw cushions 👌love them
They are from a company called "Rusted Bus" we bought them at the Volksworld Show 2017
CaliforniaCamping cheers will have a look .

haha, liked just for Lizzie's rave dancing.. but seriously neat upgrade
Thanks John :-)
Just a small question: Have you ever had to change the lights in your pop-up tent, and if so, how does one go about it (screwdriver to unhinge light cover etc.) ? Many thanks in advance.
How is the sticky on the back of the lights holding up?
PC building in 2018, we now have RGB VW campers
hahahahaha love the tshirt.... Skeg is local to me
:-D
Cool lighting. Loohs expensive how much?
Ps are you guys doing trudgefest
I think there is an app for those lights....😀😀

Yeah they won't be used for filming for exactly that reason :-)

We haven’t had that issue which is amazing since this summer was so hot!
The California's plumbing in those opening black and white shots looks like overkill to me. The lights are great though!
:-D
You made light work of that
Do the lights work to music
Message sent to Aten to see whether they kept the measurements ;-)
That's great Mark :-)
Hi Mark,
Did you get a response? I did the same before xmas but didn't get anything back, will call them if I get nothing via email.
Give Saul a call, he should still have all the measurements. 😊
Relight my cali your light is my only desire so relight my cali
😎
I really love your videos, we just got our van so it's really helpful. How are the lights holding up now? We're looking into getting them now.
Thanks so much! We love the lights, they’re still great! 👍

Very good point... be very careful of both cheap lights and red lights :-D
Bentley looks stoned !!!
Your least favorite child...?!?! LOL..!!
Your least favourite child or something 😂
