Both great vans , both so close BUT the Marco Polo gets my vote, based on internal space and LUXURIOUS finish. I’m a bit older and really appreciate the luxury. 20 years ago the California was the right choice for us. sure your new van will suit your new needs.

I am currently exploring the option of buying basically this same van. We have a 3 year old and a pug. Originally I was exploring putting a rooftop tent on a Multivan, but realized that this is just like gluing scissors to a knife (to use your reference) and maybe instead we should go directly for this. I'm thinking to replace our VW Passat Variant that we use as a daily, roadtrip car. Or should I reconsider with the baby and maybe another one on the way in the long run?

I really understand how sad you must feel parting with the van. They become a member of the family. We had a T2 and two T3s, (air cooled) the last one (Devon conversion) for 10 years. We had three kids, but either towed a small caravan, or used a tent. Many trips to the South of France. We used the camper every day, and was great for family days out. You can't beat the VW. Very sad when we finally parted with the Van! Looking forward to seeing your next adventure!

We had to go through the same and our T5 was our wedding present, but just not practical now for the 4 of us and bikes and paddle boards. Moved to a LWB Crafter and it’s almost finished. You cannot underestimate the pleasure of a fixed bed. Looking forward to the next instalment. If it is a Crafter, you won’t be disappointed.

Lovely video showing everything that we who love to travel are all missing. We sold our campervan last year as we couldn't use it, and it has turned out to be the right move as it would have just been sitting on the drive. Light is visible at the end of the tunnel now and hopefully we will get as good weather as last spring. Looking forward to your new adventures.

Aah. Very sorry to hear you are letting go of your camper van. It happened to us as well. I still miss our last c class Motorhome. It had more tiny bits of things which the new one doesn’t. Hope you get a better van. The little one is growing fast. Best of luck with your new van. I noticed you didn’t have a shower/ toilet in this van. When I found your channel about 3 years ago my wife and I seriously started looking at campers, as we have a Golden Retriever and had thought it wasn't workable. Then my wife became pregnant, but we thought it would still be possible. Then we found out we were having twins and we had to admit defeat! Now we're going down the caravan route at least while they're small but we'd still love a T6 day van for days out.
It’s so sad selling a van! Especially if your attached! We sold out t5 at the end of last year and it was gutting to do it! But since then we bought a crafter and we’re converting it now! It’s great fun and we can’t wait to have it done!

Figured this was on the cards, having seen my two kids grow up with a caravan I was wondering where everyone and everything was going to fit, great Vans but you only have so much space, I eventually went down the 6m Motorhome route, (can pretty much go anywhere) and inspired by your enthusiasm and your vids we have toured all over Europe, well France, Holland, Belgium, Germany and Switzerland, and that was just in 2019!!, the last 12 months have been a challenge but if your vids are anything to go by I am certain there are more adventures to come, best Wishes from Paul and Denise from Chester.
We are all gutted at YPTA that you have sold your van but totally understand why. As a family with two adults a child and a dog it can be a squeeze but fortunately our child is much older and needs less stuff (headphones, an ipad and a constant WhatsApp wifi connection to her friends). So the T6 is perfect for us right now. I remember needing to take everything for every eventuality just to go to Sainsburys with a tiny one. We are all looking forward to seeing what you get next and possibly bumping in to you guys (not literally 🤣) on one of our adventures.
You guys create such a beautiful videos. I ´ve been following you since the begining. California is my dream for decades. But having 3 kids, it is simply way too small for us. So I fully understand your decision to go for something bigger. After thorought consideration, I ordered Adria Coral XL - alkoven. It suits our needs for year around camping incl frequent ski trips. But California remains very close to my heart thanks also to you 😀. Best of luck with “new thing”
Went through the same thing in 2019 after our son was born. Had my T5 LWB since Validation (NATS!) in 2011 but it was just the right time to sell. Went round Europe etc loads of times and tonnes of festival but it was time to let someone else have a go! Dont regret selling it to this day (apart from fact it would be worth more in the pandemic!!) and one day will go back to van life when kids bit older to appreciate it. Good luck!

We followed you pretty much from the beginning of your channel and you helped us to confirm our campervan of choice over 3 years ago - VW California, so thank you so much. Always love your videos and am now excited to see what your next step is.... We are having thoughts of the next van for us if we decide to move on. Really like a style like the Hymer Ayers Rock but as with all vans compromises have to be made and we fancy a raised hydraulic bed to get all our bikes etc in the back. Safe and secure! So if you end up with a customised version of a Crafter or something we will be watching very closely! Don’t leave us all guessing too long though, please! 😁

Oh my days, now what am I gonna do? You guys have been such a great influence on the decisions we have made. We finished (almost) the conversion of our T6 last year. We have managed to get to a few UK destinations since lockdown but, our 'Shaun & Lizzy' influenced Euro trip had to be put on hold last year. I am already planning on selling this beast and buying a Crafter to convert in 18 months time or so. Looking at the snippets you have shown, I'm hoping that is your plan too (let it be a Crafter, let it me a crafter.) Whatever it is, we will keep watching and ticking off the Bus and Beyond recommendations as we go. Good luck to the four of you.

We put a baby travel cot (Little Life Arc 2) in the pop top since our daughter was 1, then after that use the net. All works great for the very little ones.
Hello I'm one of the earliest and most loyal members of your channel, I've usually never commented except a few time long ago, on the cutest member of your family "Bentley" when he disappeared for a long time in your old videos (now Bentley is the second cutest after Junior lol) . but this video is an important turning point in your Channel (without the great California), it's a sad and a good news, it's clear that the California now is too tinny for you. Very intrigued to see what you end up with as we are trying to decide. We have a nearly two year old and another one due any minute. We went away in a t6 conversion (not vw one) and the swivelling bench seat from the cab made a great base for attaching a travel cot. Could be worth considering if you are looking at doing your own conversion.
We've been wanting to get a van for the past 2.5 years, but have struggled until last year to sell our house to fund it. And now the prices of vans have gone up and they're scarce. So we've not been so fortunate with the timing. But loved your channel, so hope your next vehicle is as great as this one has been.

We feel your pain. We sold ours at the end of 2020 after ten fantastic years travelling all over Europe. But ... we bought the actual Dreamer D55 that you reviewed last year and are loving our new toy!

Wow what a awesome van we’re in the same boat kind of!!! Me and my partner used to travel all over Europe as far as Rome in a 66 plate Mini Cooper s five door but now we have a gorgeous little girl and kept the mini but now we’d like a caravan to take with us! So we started saving for one and now we’re struggling because of covid 😔 we’ve got a cls shooting brake to tow so plenty big enough but unfortunately we’re slowly running into our savings I could cry!! We’d of taken our little girl all over Europe again with us but something or someone (covid) popped our little bubble take care and keep posting videos 🙂 x
I upgraded from a tiny van to a van conversion with an "en suite"!! but sadly, it's now in storage and only comes out for special occasions. It is amazing but I'm thinking of trading in again for one I can use every day.

Would be interested to know why you went for the Grand. Is it a ‘VW’ thing? In that space there is so much excellent competition for cheaper. Knaus, Adria, Hymer, Carthego.... The grand isn’t a true California, with the heritage etc. In my view.

looking forward to seeing what's next..great time to sell at the moment but mark my words in 2 years time there will be a glut of motorhomes and campervans on the market when things get back to normal..and it will be the same old reason [we don't hardly use it] people who are paying £45k+ for Californias that are 5 or 6 years old is utter madness.

We've been wanting to get a van for the past 2.5 years, but have struggled until last year to sell our house to fund it. And now the prices of vans have gone up and they're scarce. So we've not been so fortunate with the timing. But loved your channel, so hope your next vehicle is as great as this one has been.

We feel your pain. We sold ours at the end of 2020 after ten fantastic years travelling all over Europe. But ... we bought the actual Dreamer D55 that you reviewed last year and are loving our new toy!

Wow what a awesome van we’re in the same boat kind of!!! Me and my partner used to travel all over Europe as far as Rome in a 66 plate Mini Cooper s five door but now we have a gorgeous little girl and kept the mini but now we’d like a caravan to take with us! So we started saving for one and now we’re struggling because of covid 😔 we’ve got a cls shooting brake to tow so plenty big enough but unfortunately we’re slowly running into our savings I could cry!! We’d of taken our little girl all over Europe again with us but something or someone (covid) popped our little bubble take care and keep posting videos 🙂 x
I upgraded from a tiny van to a van conversion with an "en suite"!! but sadly, it's now in storage and only comes out for special occasions. It is amazing but I'm thinking of trading in again for one I can use every day.

It's a wrench parting with these bands, I'm on my third. We got our first when my son was 2 and he slept in a hammock across the cab.

Rhales conversion for the next campervan?🤔 The teaser pictures show a crafter without alloy wheels so I'm guessing it's not a Grand California as these come with alloys as standard.

A lot of people didn’t watch till the end 😅 We’re renting a grand this summer from the lovely people at Campervantastic. We had a Cali from them a year ago but I think the wife and kids will appreciate the bathroom in the Grand this time around!

The kid you got is very cute :) Lets see what you will get if the world restarts. I would like to see a kepler one or westfalia kelsey (the new one), but those might not be enough in space (only + 30 cm).
Would be interested to know why you went for the Grand. Is it a ‘VW’ thing? In that space there is so much excellent competition for cheaper. Knaus, Adria, Hymer, Carthego.... The grand isn’t a true California, with the heritage etc. In my view.

looking forward to seeing what's next..great time to sell at the moment but mark my words in 2 years time there will be a glut of motorhomes and campervans on the market when things get back to normal..and it will be the same old reason [we don't hardly use it]
people who are paying £45k+ for Californias that are 5 or 6 years old is utter madness.
