Look at our girl Katie doing the dang thing! 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 You still had those wild and free sheep behaving like gentle lambs. You're so inspiring and you look so happy! 🌞
I follow Cammy and you both. It's awesome seeing you two in the same video. I appreciate your assessment of these sheep and their wool, it's a perspective others haven't shared. It's fascinating to watch and learn about something completely out of the realm of my life. You do a great job of explaining all the aspects of shearing different types of sheep (and other animals) and how their fleece differs from each other.
Quite a challenge it looks like! The timing of needing to shear all those sheep must really put extra pressure on farmers there! Now I understand more why they have those portable set-ups and whole teams of shearers come, aside from how the wool is handled.
I know nothing about the industry but I have been a subscriber to your channel I want to say 2 years only because I find it fascinating and you make it look so easy but I see now that it's not such an easy job my heart goes out to you with great respect my best to you and yours God bless and thank you so much
@@loriwatkinson6425 Katie was talking about grams/kilograms to weigh the fleece. I'm sorry. I didn't hear anything about a pint but I have lived in Ireland and I definitely know pints! Lol
Great to see you over here in the UK. It's really interesting to hear about the differences youve found in British sheep, fleece shedding etc. Did you see any haggis running around the hillsides 😉
I like the explanations and in depth. Just an animal lover, crochet and an old timer who grew up with the lanolin gold. We used to use it for most things before there was petroleum jelly available for cheap. Keep up the information sharing and both of you stay healthy. God bless.
I'd like to take a moment to say/type how much I appreciate your in-depth knowledge of your craft. Mine goes underappreciated way too often. 41 year construction worker/journeyman. Master carpenter, master roofer (not just a shingler that calls himself a roofer), master residential everything, but, masonry & concrete. Journeyman commercial carpenter, steel stud framing, acoustical ceilings, not much else there though, except, commercial roofing, as a master roofer should know too. I've heard you spit a bit of knowledge here and there, but, you took a pretty deep dive this time...thank you! 🙏👍😎
How wonderful that you are in Scotland! I have see the Sheep Game a little as I follow a hoof trimmer in southern Scotland, The Hoof GP and Cammy has been in his videos once or twice. Beautiful sheep even if they are a pain to sheer. Great job and enjoy your stay.
Very nice! Love watching shearing! You must been very stoked to see Cammy and his friends rescue Fiona in Scotland last 1.5 ago. They definitely saved that sweet sheeps life in the nic of time. I follow Dalscone Farm Fun for the past 4 yrs and I know Fiona is in great hands there! 💜🇨🇦
Dear Katie, we call the Scottish wool "medium" not coarse 😃. For a British wool to be coarse, you need to try our White Welsh mountain or Torddu (preferably rams' fleeces) or something like Rough fell- now that's wool that will make your hands tickle! The Blackie wool is a joy to spin and knit with. Traditionally used to make tweed cloth, this wool is still in demand by hand-spinners all across the UK.
Yay! You met my cousin Cammy! I saw you with a Valais Blacknose and he popped up in the shot! He is absolutely hilarious! You do great work, keep it up!.😊
Thank you so much. Great video. My Grandfather was from there so it’s great to hear 😮😮 the language and find out some of the history. Gods speed and safe travels.
Cooler than TX, eh? I could not live in south, so hot, I am a Pacific Northwest Indigenous plus Scot and German ancestry. Thank God I’m in OR NOW, kudos for your work and knowledge. Love your lives.
New subscriber here, no shepard, no sheerer, but genuinly interested. Easy learning and good style and Scotland is a treat as well! Ughh, don't eat maggots ...
I have a highland sweater made from Virginia wool and it IS very thick, scratchy and heavy to wear. I wear it on super cold days and in higher, colder elevations.
You are always amazing, simply by putting everything into a great shear. That said, she looked pretty solid and I would have needed a 4 hour break. Being a non shearer and all. 😊
So these sheep are only for meat production? At first I thought you were saving the wool but then it sounds like it’s not used commercially. Great fun watching!
CAMMY I WAS EATING DAMNIT!!!! Also now I feel much better not having been able to get lanolin out of the paltry two fleeces I had, because its pretty clear you need a lot or sheep bred for the purpose.
I had a couple of q's from watching your vids... * Just curious why you don't need to wear goggles or a mask to prevent breathing in all the dust, dirt & fiber particles or getting them into your eyes & mouth? Doesn't it get to you after awhile & do you sneeze all day? * And, this might be an odd q, but I'm a city girl... do animals smell less once their blanket is removed or does the skin have oils that still give it a ripe aroma? * Lastly, when there's a lot of dirt left after sheering, why do you not brush the animals or do you? And, if you nick them during sheering, does it bleed & do you treat that cut with antibiotic cream? TY. Love watching your smiles & your work.
What a beautiful video! I'm amazed at how (relatively) easy you made it look to handle such wild sheep. It's obvious you care about them!
With animals, even wild ones, sometimes letting them know you aren’t there to hurt them makes all the difference in the world!

Stay happy! 😃
Cammy is awesome!! So cool you got to shear with him!
Enjoyed this Katie! Nice footage and voiceover. 👏
Awesome!
Enjoy that beautiful countryside, my family is from that area. Loved your video😊❤
I really enjoy your videos. Thanks for sharing. Australia 🇦🇺
"Thanks for shearing?" :D

I rnjoy watching you shearing. You are so gentle with the animals and it shows how much you care about them. Thank you for sharing your hard work.
This was super educational! Thank you so much! 🐏🐑🐐🦙

Well Done! That was wonderful to watch, enjoy the country ❤
Fab to see you and cammie working together 😍
I love learning about all the different breeds of sheep. Thank you.
Enjoyed this one, and learned some new things, too. Many thanks.
I love what you do and your relationship with the animals is beautiful.

What a great video up in Scotland. Hope you enjoyed your time over here in the cold UK xx
I love the fact we have our Texan girl in Scotland showing off your skills 👏 Way to go Katie! You deserve a cold pint after this one 😅 Cheers
But learn about grams and kilograms.
@@saritataylor4235 Apparently your not a beer drinker. A pint is a common measurement of beer 🍺 to drink.

Oh that is so funny! I didn't realize that was referring to fleece HA. Misunderstanding for sure. All clear 👌 Cheers 🍻 👍

Thank you for including the interesting details about her pregnancy and preparing for when the lambs are born affects how her wool grows.

Fantastic to do this with Cammy! Thanks for an amazing video.
Another great video! Thanks for taking us along.

Love the Scottish brogue❤
Love your videos too❤ so informative and fun😊
WOW I'm excited for you getting to go to Scotland! How fun that must have been!
Exciting to see you’re over in Scotland, enjoy!
Love all the breed information you share! My new nickname for you is Professor Fleece!
I saw so many shearers, but you connect with them. I don’t know how but I feel it. The others just shear them, but you somehow feel them.

That was a great video. Very interesting. I had to rewind cause I couldn't hear or think after buddy guy ate the maggot!!! 😅
thats so gross
AMAZING!!!!!!
Not many blacksheep in Canada except Suffolk. We need Mountain sheep that grow a fast fleece. Survive -40C and produce triplets.
Cool that was a good video Katie.
Just to let you know Edinburgh is pronounced like "Edinbur"... It's good to see you here in Scotland
😢fascinating 👏 😂

Interesting shoes, I thought you will use more like heavy duty shoes like in construction 😊
