I have a feeling you would have loved doing my sheep. 22 ewes and 2 bucks, all hand raised and all convinced they were labradors. When the youngest buck, Bambi, would get sheared he'd just melt against you. Literally had to push him back on his feet and smack his tush to get him to go away. Always saved him for last, because, ya know, cuddles.

I have two and we used to load ours up and take them to the neighbors sheep farm when she had her "many more" sheep done. Now I just shear them myself because shearers don't regularly come out for one or two "pet" animals. Also, from personal experience these ladies are MUCH kinder to the animals. When mine were done professionally they had cuts and nicks everywhere. Everywhere. They were sprayed with so much medical spray it looked like they just came from a hospital instead of like nice new sheared sheep.

My husband does graphics lettering on emergency vehicles. He designs, makes, and installs the lettering on site which usually works out to 12 hour days, also. The thing he hates most is unpacking his stuff when he gets home. By then he’s hot, tired, and ready to just sit down in a nice cool chair. The dog and I usually go out to help him unload, talk to him about his day, bring him cold water to make it a bit easier. He’s been doing this since 1982 and keeps saying he’s ready to retire but I know he’ll die with a paint brush in his hand.

What a pleasure to follow you two around for the day. Your writing is awesome, your narration and interplay are stellar, and it just feels GOOD to watch those furry critters get capably thrown around and shorn.
I do admit to a fondness for the baby dolls and the unpredictable alpaca action.
Thanks for putting so much effort into your videos, your work and your life!

I'm so happy to see you are so busy! I would like to suggest that you look at Sheepishly Me, a sheep farm in Canada. Sandi Brock has a battery operated trimmer that might be something that would help with the hoof trimming. Not so much muscle needed and it's working for her so well. She has about 400 sheep - and they have their hoofs trimmed every three months or so. She does it on her own. Just a suggestion to help you! I LOVE your posts!

I was going to suggest that too!! Those power snips are made for you. Need to protect your hands! Love you two and have missed you. Happy to see a longer video, filled w your delightful chitchat! I have learned so much about sheep from Sandi and her flock. And now from you two! Thank you very much.

I grew up on a farm, and shearing day was always exciting. It was so satisfying to watch that wool just roll off the sheep. Our shearer must not have maintained his blades very well, because every sheep had multiple wounds when he was finished. I love watching you two make it look so easy and without all the blood. 😊
