@@ajaythemage I took it to mean drumming in a way that pleasantly bewilders you, like a puzzle. Around 2:55, for example, where he starts changing up his timing vs. the rest of the band's: it fits, but not in the obvious way.
wonderful. Jack finally figured out how to express his excitement while wearing a mask. Just bob your head like mad. Loved the keys especially on this one... can't wait for organ to be back!
I love this cover to bits, it's so so so so good, it captures the soul of the song and add some funk to it, aaaaaaaaah I cannot gush over it and Beck just kills it at the vocals.
Wow, I do love this funk collective, my all time favourite on RUclips right now, they're all back with a punch on this one! So good you forget the original, they make every song their own while respecting the writers, just magic!
Oh man, Beck was such an excellent choice for this. Her voice really grounds the arrangement and keeps a lot of the sadness and melancholy of the original. The arrangement was great too! It sounds like a more "conventional" Beatles arrangement of the song that got cut in favor of the one we got.
Wow I didn't know Beck transitioned! Good for her. She looks so young here, compared to when she was physically male. Okay I'm joking, I understood who you meant, but you're gonna sound like a dumbass if you go around calling this artist "Beck". The artist's name is clearly Beck Pete, and it's listed as such under all of their work, but I wouldn't fault you for calling an artist by their first name if not for two tiny circumstances which I will list for you. One, I haven't contacted Beck Pete's representation to double check, but I am quite certain that Beck Pete doesn't know someone named Beatfish, and definitely isn't on a first name basis with anyone named BeatFish. Two, extremely small circumstances here that are barely relevant, but there happens to be this one guy who is a gigantic, megafamous, critically acclaimed, award winning, world renowned, multi-genre American musical artist, singer, songwriter, and record producer with a fanbase made of many millions upon millions of people that already call him Beck. Hence the joke about Beck transitioning into a female. Beck is also fifty one years old. The only person that is worthy of the standalone title of "Beck" is Beck David Hansen. There are without a doubt zero people with the first name Beck that have influenced the music scene as much as Beck David Hansen. Like, with all due respect, this lady doesn't even come up in google if you search her full name lol. One does not simply achieve the status of being referred to as a single namer. Such few people are even deemed prestigious enough to become a single namer. How many can you think of? Oprah? Ye? Beck? Ellen? Madonna? Bono? There's got to be less than 100. The single namers are an incomparably small (both literally and on paper, because it's a list of single names) and powerful elite group, possibly more exclusive than the illuminati. Now, to help you understand the reality of the one true Beck, imagine this hypothetical scenario where you have a friend with the first name Oprah. Her last name is going to be (lastname) for the sake of the story because obviously if you had a friend named Oprah they WOULD have a last name (since you and I obviously don't know any single namers). Then lets say you and aforementioned friend: Oprah (lastname) speak to each other every day and every. single. person. you have ever spoken to knows your friend Oprah (lastname) quite well. And, somehow, every single person you have ever spoken to also knows that you're a loser who isn't friends with any single namers; So in other words, it would be perfectly clear to people that you aren't talking about the titled Oprah. I wouldn't care if you and Oprah (lastname) were the last people on earth and nukes took out literally everything except you two. Your friend's name would STILL be Oprah (lastname) because they haven't earned their spot in the highly envied, elusive, and inexplicably endogenous single namer club. With that being said, you should now understand why you will sound like a dumbass if you continue to refer to the artist Beck Pete as "Beck" when talking to people. Especially since Beck is one of the most prestigious single namers, people will undoubtedly assume you are talking about Beck, the super famous person who everyone knows, not Beck Pete, an American indie music vocalist with 22,000 spotify listeners. I will also point out that there are no duplicate single namers. It is believed that the single namer society voted out duplicate names 200 years ago, but they dont keep records because of how exclusive they are, so the exact date isn't confirmed. Maybe I would have given you a pass on calling both of them Beck if Beck Pete and you were actually friends and on a first name basis, or if Beck Pete and Beck were in different professions, or if Beck died like 500 years ago. I would probably also have given you a pass if you didn't have any upvotes. Maybe next time if you would like to abbreviate the artist's name you can call them Pete. I don't think there are any single namers named Pete yet.
I finished the Drum-Gasm & discovered it has been 1 year.... and no-one else has discovered the sublime wonder of this song.... this way.... and was inspired to comment. If you are not here, you will not see this, but I pity you anyway. A Master Class if there ever was one. If you are going to cover a song, this is how to properly honour that song. Build on it's intention... its karma... but take it somewhere new. This nailed it for me. I listen to the original AND this. Both have a place in my heart. One I expected and one that I didn't. 0Never stop being curious. Actively LOOK for life and you'll find it. If you aren't striving to growi/learn, you're juat passing time till.......

BRILLIANT take on this classic. Perfect soundtrack for all of those still practicing proper social distancing. Much love from Worcester, MA and thanks for all you do.
BECK PETEEE! Love your songs lonely and gently break it, your voice is mesmerizing. Eleanor Rigby, I first heard it when I was 12 or sumthin. Always hits a sad note and this funk cover is a breath of fresh air!
Wow, the first notes... this is no cover, is an homage that brings the song to a new level (quite Billy Joel ish) Not quite sure about the vibrato per se, but the overall result is a chocolate for the ears
I can see what you mean about thr vibrato, but it reminds me more of a folk singer than funk and the juxtaposition of the two is a such gosh darned treat
Its actually a flutter more than vibrato. For a lot of singers its stylistic choice, but some singers cant not do it. I personally dont like it in most cases.
don’t think they swung and funked it as badass as Ray Charles did years ago. Not often I think they could have done more with it, but I reckon there was more funk to explore.
My grandma just died. She was COVID positive along with other complications. We couldn't even hold a proper funeral for her :" last time i met her was before the pandemic 😭

Love him too! 🤙🏾The pigeon bassist returns!
That voice. Rises well above anything I've heard lately. She would've been absolutely huge were she singing in the 70's or 80's.
Always a joy to watch Sam Wilkes. Incredible musician, as are the rest.
It's the Beatles after meeting Billy Joel! Alternate title: "Eleanor's Movin' Out!"
That's what I thought, too.
Hell yeah
Came here to say this, though couldn't remember the Billy Joel song name.
I was wondering why I liked this Scary Pockets cover so much more than a lot of the others. Billy Joel is my favorite musician. Makes sense now.
Plus a pinch of Supertramp
