Best 2016 Tucson actuator video on RUclips, repair wouldn't have been possible without it. Thanks so much for detailed step by step instructions! I was surprised after removing the actuator to find the motor gear stripped after reading several times "it's not the motor" (yes, I had already ordered a new OEM actuator, one from Korea via ebay) . So after ordering a new motor, the install of it and the new actuator went smooth. Since I don't know if the old actuator caused the stripped motor gear or the motor was the problem, I decided to keep it in case the new one goes bad. Thanks again, you do a great job of teaching!
Thank you so much for teaching us how to repair this problem. I have to repair the driver window and back left passinger window. Interesting how they both stop working within the same month. The back window rarely gets used, only when the grandboys are with us. Compared to drivers window used way more often with only 83,000 miles.
Thanks for the video. I have had to replace the other 3 window motors and regulators at my local shop. Might try replacing this one myself after your video.
About 3 months ago My wife had a problem with the the front passenger door - without me knowing she took the Tucson to the dealership to fix it 😳 they charged her $600 😠. This afternoon she tells me the back right door window now doesn't work. What timing - I watched your video and this week I plan on doing the job myself - thanks to your video. My God reward you greatly 🙏🏻✝️🙏🏻✔️
Man, thank you definitely help me out had a six hour ride from Baltimore to Pennsylvania to pick up the window, but put it in myself was definitely worth my ride. Thanks again for the video.
Amazing work ! Thank you so much for documenting this , now I feel like I can actually do it myself as iv got all 4 windows to fix !!!! Grrrr last time buying a Hyundai 😅
Same - about to fix all 4 that failed within a few weeks of each other. And Hyundai still refuses to admit there is an issue! Will never buy a Hyundai again!
I seriously want to say thank you for this great video. I had both rear fail recently and with your video I was able to replace both for a total cost of $265 as I found the OEM part on EBAY for both doors for $240 total and the pry tool and window suction cups I bought to hold window up. I currently have a case open with Hyundai though because based on inspection their was some flat plastic glued on the metal part of the door that eventually broke off and likely lodged in the pulley system that caused the system to eat the plastic grooves where the motor connected into the door regulater. They are having me take the car to the dealer for inspection then we will see what happens. But thank you for helping me fix my vehicle.
Did Hyundai end up doing anything? All 4 of our windows failed with the same issue within a few weeks of each other (outside of warranty). Opened a case with Hyundai for a “good faith” claim, took it to the dealership, but they said if Hyundai corporate didn’t cover it, I would be on the hook for $460 in diagnostic fees! Wasn’t willing to take that risk, so I’m fixing it myself.
Thank you so much for your video. It saved us a ton of time! I really liked the way you patiently instructed every step and how you were very meticulous. Keep up the great work!
Incredibly helpful video! First time doing this repair and your explanation was spot on! Took me a little longer to do, but thats becuase I kept rewatching parts to make sure I was doing it right.
Dave, I've already paid close to $1000 to fix my Tuscon's driver and passenger windows. Now the windows in the back seat are doing the same thing. I've got them taped shut with clear packing tape. I've so mad I could spit nails over this problem. I've never had a car do this before, and believe me, I've had a lot of cars. I'm going to try to repair these windows by myself as I'm retired now, living on a fixed income, and although I can afford to get them done professionally, I just don't want to. I want to tackle this problem on my own. Your video makes it look easy enough to handle so here I go, wish me luck. Not too shabby for a 65 year old great grandma, hehehe. I'll let you know how it goes, thx for the video.
I'm sorry for the question but what is the difference between replacing the motor and the inner door panel? My rear window won't go up and it doesn't make a sound. So I'm thinking it's the motor.
You will need to take it apart and see what's wrong. If the motor is bad replace it. I run tests with a power probe for voltage and ground for the switch and the motor. I have only done 2 of these and both were stripped out plastic gears. You may have something else.
This is precisely what I have to do on my Tucson with 66K miles. Thank you for the great detail video. One question though. I see EBay has the plastic gear where the motor inserts into. Is it a big job to replace that gear?
3 of mine went bad around the very same mileage! HYUANDI DO BETTER! My mom had Elantra had to replace all 4 motors… Sad I DONT UNDERSTAND WHY THEY HAVE NOT HAD A RECALL? Oh yea and let’s talk about the HEADLIGHTS OMG I literally can’t drive at night! 😩 I basically drive off fog lights! When I put them on bright NO LIGHTS AT ALL! Been this way 3 yrs now. I’m cheap and I’ll not take it to dealership… Bought it new, after a mth after purchasing it low tire sensors stay on all the time. Now it’s 2024 10 yrs old still on. Basically only problems I have had with it… but I feel it coming lol 100,000 or 10 yr warranty lmao disposable vehicles now! Oh my word this world!,$$$$
Dude, your 'ugly beard needs to have a 'Flat Top Trim... 'Coyote Ugly ! I really liked the way you patiently instructed every step and how you were very meticulous. Keep up the great work Butt, without a 'Hot Rod Beard!
Just the gears are available for about $13. I have a Kia and they all break. The problem with just replacing the gear is running the cables over the pulleys. Kia has a dealer only tool that guides the cable over the pulley. I have seen videos of people doing it with pliers and a screwdriver. It's not easy. I just put a new motor in my front drivers door today. Easiest door panel I have ever removed. All the clips came off and none of them broke. If you ever have to replace the front drivers door motor they have 2 part numbers. 1 is auto down the other is up/down. It can be confusing if you don't catch that.
@@HotRodDave you can find them on amazon and ebay from Korea. I did find it strange that none of the local auto shops have them. That plastic wheel fails on all of them. Sad this isn't the type of things they can include in a recall.
How many miles are on that car. I have 63,000 and the window was hardly used. It tore the internal ring gear up and snapped the shift so it fell out of the actuator panel. I say this is a manufacturing defect. They are using the wrong grease. The grease is hard as rock. I have never had a car with an actuator that failed at 63,000 miles. Maybe 280,000.
I don't remember the miles. I think I said it in one of the vides on the door panels. I was a dealer tech for 12 years and a shop owner for 17 and have seen a lot fail under warranty with low miles. I think it just a bad design. I have never seen them made like those are. Hard grease is not a good thing.
@@fuzznutz7182 Thet had a TSB on the gear and upgraded it. All 4 of mine broke thankfully under warranty. My warranty finally ran out though. Window motor started going part way up on auto and back down a couple inches. It would go up manually. It's always the motor when it does that.
yup, I was 900 miles out of the non-powertrain warranty and they charged me 1100. Second window broke and I took it to a local place and they charged me 250 but forgot to replace the window gasket and I took it apart and redid it myself. now my third window has broken and i'll just do it myself.
I know this is old video but now I no how to do it there's no sound coming from mine so i just got second hand motor if it's like that one stripped i think I'll use JD weld until it goes again then replace door panel if it works put together day after cheers 🍻 👏
Hi Dave, I have this same vehicle. Same problem, driver window. I can't hear the motor running at all. Is there something else to check first? The rest of the windows work fine. This car has been a total piece of shit for me since day one. Thanks in advance.
Start checking for voltage at the window switch. If it puts out 12v in the up and down position then move to checking the motor. The motor may be the problem. Sometimes you can smack the door panel or slam the door and the motor may start working.
@@HotRodDave changing the window, but when we did, the plastic was off the track due to the glass. Being completely shattered. Wires was off the pulley. We finally got the wires on. Now doing the window in the morning.
