For things like Guilty Gear and all, it makes sense, it’s character’s in a set world who end up fighting each other for their goal. I haven’t seen the SSF2 special ending before. On SF2T on the SNES you get a special ending for beating the game on 7 star out of 8 difficulty. Same song plays, but slightly different mix than this version. The ending was also animated while the music played with each character performing some action then finishing in their win pose. On the top difficulty, if you passed it without losing a round, it also showed unique character art of the character you were using. Only ever saw the art once for Ryu. Was not something I could easily replicate.
If you put it to 8 star difficulty and didn't lose a round. You would get a special screen at the end that said "You have mastered 'your character' " I've done it on the snes with Ryu, Ken & Sagat

I'm looking at the comments and I'm wondering are there really so many people who don't know M. Bison, Balrog, and Vega got their names switched up outside Japan or is it some sort of meme bait? Or maybe I'm just old and this trivia is pretty obscure nowadays... M. Bison stands for Mike Bison, obviously a play on the boxer, Mike Tyson. This would probably attract the wrong kind of attention, particularly in the US, so they gave him another fighter's name, Balrog. Balrog was actually what the Spanish fighter was originally named, but he received the name Vega. Vega was actually what the last boss was originally called, but he received the name M. Bison. Presumably because Vega is an actual Spanish word, so fit the fighter from Spain better. This would get very confusing in international tournaments, so these three characters received unofficial nicknames: Boxer, Claw, and Dictator.
If both players attacked with moves that are just as fast after one blocked low dash punch, then boxer's attack would hit instead of both hitting each other
