I had it in 3DO Panasonic and he does that too. Even he has an aerial throw that drains more than 80% of your health and if he kills you, you scream twice, like an error.
He’s programmed to jump when you do lots of things. You can exploit it by stand jabbing to make him jump then dragon his ass. You can get two perfects every time on Zangief in Alpha by doing exactly that over and over. He’s really hard on Alpha as well if you try to fight fair.
@@cardsharpHS You mean Alpha 3? In other alphas, he is pretty easy. I don't recommend Ryu though, but if you're a really good Dhalsim player you can beat him!
Just like how I found a cheat for Guile. If you learn his flash kick range and keep using jab shoryuken just barely outside of its range, he'll do flash kick even if it will miss or be blocked and you can punish it for free.
That doesn’t work for this sf2 version. I think it only works on first 3. Or the difficulty gage is always set to max in the nearby arcade close to my house.
I remember playing in an arcade where if Zangief grabbed you he either hugged you to death from 100% or roflstomped you from the ceiling into hell, again, from 100%. It was quite hilarious seeing all the healt bar dropping down to 0 in slow motion. As well as infuriating xD.
I remember on super Nintendo when I first fought against zangief he grabbed me almost immediately before biting me repeatedly depleting nearly all my health!
Recently i played a lot of USF4 arcade mode, with AI on hardest difficulty : trust me, Zangief is a complete monster, he got your number. Fei Long too.
I like how the AI just mashes out of Balrog's headbutt throw after the first hit. It's unapologetically 100% doing TAS levels of mashing, inputs into every frame. And getting out of it ASAP.
The trick to beat zangief was to do back jumps and flying kicks, while with dhalsim you had to spam sweeps on his wakeup. At least this is how I used to cheese them years ago at the arcade.
Behold the glorious high level power of the CPU 0:05 standing still yet throw's a sonic boom 2:35 how does Gief recover so quickly? 3:44 Wow. Just wow. The man did not even get a chance to attack Gief. The CPU was in stun for less than a second. Such fantastic. Such cheap. 3:51 This CPU was cheap. Look at the distance from which he grabbed daigo. SNK would be proud.
Actually, the grab distance is correct if the CPU read Daigo input in case he pressed a button that didn't came out because of the grab. There are certain Normals that makes your hurtbox go a little forward
The crazy part is no matter how hard or fast you press buttons, Zangief is taking a bare minimum of 60% of your health away. Mortal Kombat 2 is also infamous for this with countless videos of broken AI that reads 99% of your moves to steal your arcade quarters.
From my opinion, a lot of professional players are too offensive. There's a pattern that you have to figure out with every character. For Balrog vs Zangief, you just have to crouch, press MP, Zangief will either jump forward or backwards, and then you just do your Dashing Uppercut. This strategy works for Fei Long as well. You just have to keep doing this until he is backed to the corner. 90% of the time, Fei Long will jump back and that's when you do your Dashing Uppercut. If you use Ryu vs Fei Long, use the same crouching MP strategy, fireball, stand away far enough, Fei Long will jump forward, and sweep him. Each character vs CPU has a pattern that can be figured out. In my opinion, Dee Jay is the easiest vs Zangief. Just stand, press HK when Zangief walks close enough, 3 hits, he's dizzy, stand, press HP for 2-hit combo to build meter or simply throw, jump back to be safe, repeat, and finish with super for more points. Also, in my option, Dee Jay is the easiest to use against the CPU in SSFII Turbo. He's like Guile but way better. His cross-up combos are better and it's easier to connect his super from juggling.
Repeated neutral jumps in the corner and just hit roundhouse when Zangief is close, and he will walk into it every single time. It worked in the 90s, and it still works today.
I cheesed this game in the arcades back in the day by using Vega and simply using crouching hard kick / slide attack. Time it right and you can keep knocking the characters back on the ground almost constantly. Double perfects on Bison every time. SSF2 Turbo / X was harder but still succumbed to this gloriously smelly cheese tactic. I figured if the CPU wouldn't play fair, neither would I! Edit: Just noticed he is playing the Turbo version.
