James May’s gin has been flying off the virtual shelves since its launch last year, but he isn’t resting on his laurels, and has been grafting behind the scenes to take things to the next level. Harking back to the days of ‘Navy Strength’ gin, James takes a lighter to a more intense version of his gin to see if it passes the age-old test.
A true test would have been to mix it with gunpowder to see if it was still flammable. You're slacking there, Bim!
Bim!😆🤣
If only Mythbusters was still running
Not in the distillery
That was indeed the test to prove that a given spirit would be allowed on board His Majesties ship... hence 100% proof.
🤣🤣🤣 Bim!
You actually referenced MY email???
I must be dreaming! Thank you!
My apologies for not listing the 26 other gins in our collection. Their origins are quite diverse, representing at least 10 countries across 3 continents.
Looking forward to trying this.
(I just wish I could get a bottle shipped to the States ahead of schedule)
James, make sure this man gets his gin :D
Hear, hear!
You made it!
You lucky one! In the EU we still can't buy the James Gin. 🤨
James needs to send you a bottle.
“We can not have a heater due to highly flammable spirit stored here” seconds later proceeded to light up a open dish on the table
🤣😂
Indeed. Bizarre.
Laws in the western world aren't meant to make sense theyre meant to make you feel safe.
I'm thinking the same as you lol , poor video from James may lol
@@Ghost-dy9sf Sparks are different-type ignition sources than flames.
@@pretzelhunt The lighter used a spark to ignite its butane, so that's not the reason.
The "nice try" gif i awesome ;)
Thanks, Lucy! I needed a chuckle :)
"French cannonballs would come bursting through the side of HMS Herpes"...I friggin' lost it! 🤣
I heard that too.
This "may" well be the first documented case when a correspondent's request was directly granted and with credit acknowledged.
Had to try the QR code. Love that it did what I expected. I hope to see this across the pond someday.
I had to try it too lol
Every advert should include James May doing science experiments. The benefits would be twofold: 1. More content from Mr. May, and; 2. Fewer total adverts, since there's only so much of Mr. May and he's quite picky. Wining proposition, as far as I'm concerned.
Mr. May aka James. You had a terrific tv show with Oz Clarke about wine and drinking for Britain. In that drinking for Britain, you bought a piece of land from some wine guy. My question is, since your idea was to grow "beer" in that plot of land, Have you grown "beer" there and if so, will that be used to brew beer and served in your pub? I need answers for this so I will keep commenting this same question for all the videos in foodtribe.
Thanks m8
Write James a letter.
James doesn't need to grow beer, Jeremy is doing that now.
Is this why Food Tribe stopped posting content?
"NICE TRY :)"
PS: When will the James Gin be available in the EU?
Feel like I’ve been caught doing something naughty xD
I like how they aren't allowed to have a heater in there, but they can have an open flame.
Ordered one of each, THANKS jAMES
Cant have heating because of explosive barrels, but can set fire to alcohol on a wooden table around a metre away from said explosive barrels
I did finally receive my bottle (Texas) and it is hands down the best gin I've tried so far. Way better then Gunpowder, gray whale (utter garbage) or Hendricks and even my favorite up until now, Boodles. I do have an unopened bottle of Rock Rose that still needs to be tried, but I'm sure it to will fall short.
We need some more bunker videos. I'm getting sad here 😞
My Naval Strength is arriving tomorrow! Love the Asian parsnip.
Thanks for the high definition close up of the exclusive QR code
have you scanned it?
Leads to a surprise!
@@studentgamer1232 They clearly haven't as they're trying to be clever.
4:38 I scanned the QR code 😂
Nice Try.
Gotta love the GIF that comes up when you scan the QR that is actually shown...
Pretty funny with the QR code shown on the bottle in the video !!
Can’t have heaters due to flammable liquids being stored... so we going to light this gin on fire.... brilliant
James being personable. You’ll be acknowledged that you bought my spirits.
Mr. J May. April 2nd is/was my 54th birthday. April 4th will be my wife's 53rd birthday. ... A case of Asian Parsnip Gin arrived on April 1st. This will make our birthdays a little bit nicer because it is an outstanding and unique treat. Thanks for that. (PS. Spitfires are a lovely bird, but when you need a job done properly, Hurricane FTW.)
We can't have heat. Not even electric.... Proceeds to light gin on fire 😂😂😂
Thanks for the nice try gif 😂 Lucy very funny.
Finally available in America, I ordered, so excited
Will there be a berry infused version… Captain Sloe?
I would buy a full consignment of that. Enough to sink a ship.
Interesting. Hey Bim, how is it that brandy will flambé when it's typically 40%proof but James Gin wont?
Do you reckon the lack of uploads means the gang may be filming for the next grand tour special :D?
Wow that QR code at 4:40. See where it leads!
For authenticity's sake they should have tested this on an old battleship - HMS Victory for instance - seated next to a few barrels of gunpowder.
If yall do more of the Tribers' Sandos I got a great recipe that isn't exactly a Sandwich but it is a great Soft Taco. Although you NEED Black Beans for it but the ingredients are as followed:
Mushrooms
Can of Black Beans
1 Yellow Onion
Some Garlic
Optionally some sliced Rare Steak
Basically just slice all the veg and throw it into a pan and saute a bit until it all starts to caramelize and then add Drained Black Beans to the pan and then put in Tortilla and eat. (Optionally could add the Sliced Steak into the Taco)
4:30 lol gotta respect him for being honest
Will this be available in the US in due course? Loved my regular James Gin, would love to try the Navy strength!
I know you're afraid of the place going up, but, like, hot water radiators that were installed everywhere prior to like 1980? Or are those banned in England. Maybe heated floors?
Just one problem, you lit a fire in the room with barrels of highly inflammable ethanol, LOLOL
Eh he did worse things
I'm in love with those glasses! Look at those!
What are they called ?
@@snehasimran3669 I don't remember writing that comment and I think I'll take back what I said. I don't know what they're called
It's not often I click 'like' on an advert, but when I do, it's invariably for a James May product.
I think you broke the 'ignition free environment' rule!
"We can't have anything in here that might ignite our tanks of flammable ethanol"
Sets fire to desk......
Dear James, I have tried to order your gin but I cannot order it to Denmark. what can i do to get it?
honestly i'm dying over it.
I am a huge fan of yours and have fallen in love with your product. there must be a way to get hold of it.
please help me.
James may I please have a dot signed version of this edition. Simply because I love your gin. And may I also add, it was the greatest surprise at Christmas from my wife
Learn something new every day
Somehow, "James May’s gin" has flown under my radar thus far.
Dang, now I want to try James May brand Asian Parsnip Toasted Marshmallows.
I missed out on the original first batch, so have treated myself to an early birthday present of the Navy Strength, cant wait.!!
Why is the limited edition not available for pre-order to the USA? I , for one, would be perfectly willing to wait to get it shipped here if it meant I could get the limited edition. Please James make it so!
I hope the Naval strength does well and makes it to batch 2 / USA sales!
love that captain slow...
My favorite ...Mr. May ;)
Can't have heating in the distillery, lights an open fire in the distillery. 👏
Who else tried to scan the QR code to see the exclusive video at 4:38 but was met with the 'other' surprise. And here is me thinking i can outsmart James May
I hope you are sending Mr. McGuirk a free bottle.
Now I want to drink James' gin and watch Master and Commander.
So you can't have a heater but you can do flamable science experiments in the room. Makes sense.
4:39 Nicely done Lucy Brown
They could just use hydronic heating. Safe solution for flammable storage spaces.
You should definitely release one for the Aussie market but with a different recipe that has malt, hops, yeast in it. Maybe you could call it beer or something. I'm sure it will take off. Wait, what is Jeremy doing? Is he actually doing that or trying to test the advertising agencies?
We drink beer in Australia, we want beer.
James may is the type of guy to service his vacuum cleaner
Man I'm so glad we get these little FT tastes
No heaters allowed. Proceeds to light up gin.
thank u for the surprise gif lucy
I would love to try this
James May, please make a cheesecake.
Maaaayyy!!!! You utter ########## I'm in hospital recovering from a spinal injury and unable to drink I already have two bottles of first signed edition at home now I've 2 navy strength on order 💪 I can't wait to get out of here and get completely clattered on plus side now I'm tetrapledic I've no worries about getting legless 🤣 I've been in hospital since July 2019 so has you can imagine I'm going to inhale your gin faster than Richard hammond!!!! Great work looking forward to more varieties in the future
I can't wait for the Season 5 of Grand Tour! I think it is filmed in Norway
Hi James, just what to let you know that the videos that you and this channel make are both interesting and very funny. Here's a food I want you and the channel to make and taste...Crunchy Munchy Honey Cakes.
These are the required things to make this tasty treat: Flour, Milk, Muesli Flakes, and Honey. You'll also need to have a mixing spoon, a mixing bowl, and some baking trays. A little bit later, you'll need to use an oven. Then taste it and see what you think of it.
cheers!
James may please make a cheesecake
Hang on. They’re not allowed a radiator, due to the risk of fire. Then Mr May proceed to start a fire.
I bet the flavor of the navy strength is noticeably fiery.
You know what they say. If you make it, they will drink it. So yes. I will buy it.
JAMES MAY please make a cheese cake!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lol, nice one on the QR code Lucy!!!
Remember Hammond's violin shaped bottle of whiskey from Norway? You should do that but a Dacia sandiero. Of course you would have to get their permission
Now to wait for it to be available in the US. . .
I half expected that to be a spoof QR code.
You scoundrel. Of course I paused the video and scanned the QR code.
Are you folks okay? You haven't posted in a month? Is everything all right?
No, core team all sacked - no more Lucy or Rachel
@@rotoehu9266 Ah, thanks.
@@rotoehu9266 Really? when was that announced? I knew that drive tribe was shutting down But I thought the youtube etc was still going?
@@rotoehu9266 proof?
For anyone wondering, that jacket James is wearing appears to be a $1300 Wuxly Sabertooth II Parka.
The consideration for those flammable barrels didn't last long hahaha
Another drink you won't sell to me in Japan? I am so excited...
Great videos! When is the next video ?
Where’s the content gone?
We can't have heaters in here of any type because of the massive flammable barrels right here. Proceeds to light gin on fire on the desk.
I know you won't read this but thanks James for the gin order it around September and arrived on my birthday on February in America thank your
Bim’s Gin - Navy Strength
Imagine the marketing possibilities.
When is james may gin comming to norway, want it so bad. Been waiting too long for it
where is James May and the food tribe group - we want more content guys!!!!
Strong stuff 🤯
I was expecting Jeremy to run in with his beer.
I can't be the only one who wanted to see Bim grab the dish of flaming gin, and chug it like a man.
strange. where i live we have schnaps that burns from 38%vol on. we light up a pearschnaps with 40%vol regularly for a specific beverage a lot.
Hi James,
I would like to be able to buy your gin and get it sent to New Zealand. Thanks
Ordered my bottle immediately. What’s better than a gin that can go up like a bonfire? And tastes of Asian parsnips?
Hey James I hope you've got the James Gin export team on the case for USA sales. After all it was an American that inspired the formulation.
“We can’t have heaters in here because of all the explosive liquids. Anyway, we’re going to start a small fire now.”
Where the heck is the latest episode?? James May "it's not out yet"!
Not allowed heating in case off fire, set a fire on the table.
Still not buyable in Europe :(
