Winnipeg Police Service uses the "alternative" sirens of the Sapphire. They're super cool to listen to. Thanks for making this video, myself and some buddies have been searching forever trying to find what siren it was that Winnipeg used.
Is it possible to programme the speed and pitch of the phaser siren? E.g pulses fast at a high pitch, then slows a little, then speeds up but at a low pitch, then quickly to a high pitch, basically chaotic.
Not that I’m aware of on this unit. I think there is a tone similar to what your describing called an “intersection tone”. I forget which siren it’s on, but I would check that out and see if it’s what your looking for.
You can combine several of the tones on the top row and have the manual button change the tow to the alt tones. Also the German siren is the "Martin" tone sires under "Euro." Have fun!
When you have the siren tone selected, in the top right corner you can click the "+" button to create a "press 2." When the second press is selected, under the tones menu you can add the alt tone. Then on the input screen with the siren on the top row selected, have "MAN" set to either override tone or set to next phase. You can combine all of the wails on one button, etc for the others.
zboi778 Cool! I did see the “+” button, but at the time I had spent over an hour programming, so I didn’t mess with it, but I may have to go back and play with it a little.
With Command they added a lot of features previously unavailable. They’ve combined the Epsilon series tones into the gen 1 WeCan and ironed out many of the bugs from the old sapphire program. Happy programming and hope to see more of what you come up with!
zboi778 Sounds good, and thanks for the insight! I hope to get another video out of it with different tones, but it probably won’t be until after Xmas.
You know, mine has been in storage for over a year, and I don’t remember off the top of my head. I’ll grab it the next time I’m near my storage unit and I’ll remember once it’s in front of me again.
I have the same Cencom Sapphire Amp and Controller. I've wired it up as outlined in the installation manual. I get absolutely no sound. When checking the WC Diagnostic Indicators, the first light shows steady red. According to the manual it states, "CenCom Controller Bus is set to off, Check Interface Box". Can you please advise how to correct this issue? Thank you.
Anyone know the name of a siren effect when it sounds like T3 is mixed with a hi-lo. I rememeber hearing it on CHP sirens in GTA V role play (LSPDFR) and I'm certain it exists in reality. It makes like a monotone higher register rumble than a wail or usual siren.
David Dobry The software from Whelen just calls it “ALT Wail”, and I have not seen another title for it. I did come up with my own name for it, “Pursuit Wail”, but that’s my own label.
How can their amplifier power one or two 100-Watt speakers through the same outputerminals?? No switch for 100 or 200 watts. No 100 or 200 watt connections. Whelen's SA315P siren speaker does not have much of a sound path. The Federal Signal TS-100 has a much longer sound path. The FS CP-100 (no longer made) has the longest.
The speakers are run in line with each other. Meaning the single outputs are capable of pushing 2 100w speakers on the same tone. In order to have 2 speakers providing dual tones, you would need a "dual-tone" siren that had dual 100w outputs instead of a single output capable of 200w.
@@naithanbohan4730 Thank you. 200 watts can burn outhe driver coil of a 100-watt speaker. How can Whelen not burn out a single 100-watt speaker if no switch from 200 down to 100-watt output? Unless Whelen has a circuit which somehow detects driver impedance and adjusts wattage output, I suspect it is notruly 200 watts. (Does Whelen ever claim 200 watts?) Best is to have *one* more-powerful tone than two less powerful frequencies. Square wave is best for sirens. The "air horn" and "mechanical siren" sounds are less loud because the driver's diaphragm expends energy producing additionaharmonics.
@@robertgift The cencom is able to detect if 1 or 2 speakers are hooked up. And no, its not a true 200watts but there is some science behind why however it still pushes both the speakers at max power.
Thank you. With my electrical engineering background, would like to khow dey do dat. Less than 200-watts is less than 200 watts. Would love to know how that "pushes both (100-watt) speakers at max power". Does Whelen ever say whatheir wattage output is? It _is_ fused at 20-amps. The Cencom has no heatsink.
Depends on what type of lights are being used. If it is a WECan Lightbar, then that is a direct connection to the back of the amp. (Programming needs to happen first with computer software.) It it’s not, then it will have to be programmed either to the slide switch or designated control head buttons.
Don't you just love the sound of the Whelen? That phaser slaps traffic out of the way, absolutely love it.
7x Totally agree! I prefer some models over others, but this one is probably in the top three for me.
@@allintodrumsandguns Sane here, but I'd have to say that if the Whelen sirens, the WS-227s and WS-224 are the kings.

I love you man, making so many amazing siren packs with these videos !

Liam Pattison Photography That’s great, I’m glad you finally found it!
HI LIAM!!
2020 and this still has to be the best siren unit on the market to date
Loving the “white cut”
It's the "alternate wail" btw
The White Cut siren is the best and sounds 10x better in real life. I get to hear it a lot since Im in Portland.
I have this exact system in a 2014 police interceptor patrol Sedan that I bought in Georgia, I love it!!!!
Very cool demo. Could you possibly do a video of all the of the composite tones?
Maybe...there are quite a few alt/comp. tones, but I’ll see if I can’t reprogram it with some variety.
6:35 is whelen trying to compete with FS?
The Timberwolf tone is awesome
@allintodrumsandguns do you have a wiring video on the Whelen CenCom Sapphire Siren

hello, do you know if it is also possible to program the siren federal signal ss200sm ?
I believe you can program the newer ones. Not sure if it’s possible on a computer, but I have seen it done by using the control head in program mode.
@@allintodrumsandguns hello how to put the program mode and or press?
The sapphire is fine but why is it the same as the epsilon. I kinda prefer the cencom red or gold due to it's sound.
One question, can a whelen 295SLSA1 work on a FS speaker?
Yes. All speakers should work with any siren. I’ve used Whelen speakers with Code 3 and FS sirens and vice versa.
