1:39, 2:04, and 2:23 are the sirens we have on our ambulances. My favorite is the one at 2:23. I use it when entering intersections and when people won't move over.
That was a really good clear video on all the tones! It pretty much have everything. I would use Alt Wail, For wail. Warble for Yelp and Ultimate Hi-lo for Piercer. For Man I would use Mech Wail and for horn I would use Ultimate Horn (rumbler horn)
4:06 You know most notabily if you went further up north to Portland or possibly Tigard. (I heard one of the FPIUS used the alt yelp) You would be hearing the alternate tones here and there.
Where were you doing this? Could the video have an alternate title of “18 minutes of annoying nearby people.” Lol. Cool siren, nice to see they put every possible tone you’d ever want in it
In a garage. The sirens are heavily muffled with styrofoam and pads it just sounds loud. When the garage is closed you can barely hear it from the outside, we’ve tested it.

When I was little well, me and my mom was in my house and this was a story so I was using my tablet and I heard a firetruck and I was like that doesn’t sound like a regular firetruck sound and all of a sudden I heard something and I was like, what is that And the alternate siren and I was like what in the world what in the world I started laughing and then I was like why are you laughing and I was like cause that sound so that was the time that happened when I was little and by the way that light was flashingthe light the light I like it
Yeah Salem PD, most department's in general use this. Salem PD might have a different version though, this control head is popular for multiple sirens Whelen owns (I think.)
This control head can be used with numerous Whelen systems, ranging from the HHS4200 all the way to Carbide and more. They all use the same software for programming and have the same siren tones available. The difference between these systems lays in the light control and vehicle inputs. Depending on the system you can fully control the lights and even use vehicle inputs for automated functions. The other difference is the WeCanX/ Core system and control head. WeCanX/ Core controllers are technically the same but in different colors and for use with Core. Core itself has a few extra tones that the other Whelen systems like Carbide don't have.
Yeah in the events tab (I think, haven’t used the program in a while, could also be the Virtual Inputs tab, can’t remember which) you can program the manual button to switch T1 to mech or whatever other tone you want.
@UlveHalldorsson Oh, okay, that also made me think if Peppa Pig used that Hi-Lo Tone for the ambulance and an Italian police that I have seen in their episodes.
@ImarisYT you'd normally find this siren on numerous blue-white volvo, saab, mercedes, ford, Jeep cherokee and other car brands of the swedish police due to it having the best price back in the days and because the klaxon sonabel BOP P2 two-tone siren being outdated from use
You have to download the Whelen Command program (I believe that is what it's called) on a computer, preferably a laptop, usually what I did was plugin the USB (either micro or C, I forgot which one) from my computer into the amp box, and make the customizations there, after I made the customizations I'm pretty sure there was an export button that exported it into the amp box and I unplugged and went from there. That's bare minimum explanation though since I haven't used it in forever, someone out there might have a better one.
A civilian can get blue lights and handcuffs too, but the question is why? Unless you're in the fire service, it would be looked on as very strange to have a siren in your vehicle.
I'm just showing off the horn, for those who either wanna record the sounds for other uses, or just get a good look at what it sounds like in full/context.
Whelen's Ultimate Hi-Lo tone is basically Federal Signals Ultra Hi-Lo tone found on their Touchmaster Delta sirens. Also Whelen's Dozer tone is a copy of another Federal tone too. Whelen copies Federal and manages to get away with it somehow........
Welcome to the world of sirens 😄 There are plenty of tones out there that sound close to sirens from other companies. I can understand all the different opinions about that. As a programmer of these systems I like that Whelen has these tones. This is a neat little extra for some customers. On the other hand FedSig copied Whelen's M-series and they get away with it as well.
@@Rummeltobi I mean FS could've trademarked those tones like they did with the Federal Q siren. FS trademarked the Federal Q so if anyone tries to replicate it they'll get sued.
Love the old Unitrol-like tones, but especially the Ultimate HiLo at 6:39.
Sounds the same as FedSig's Ultra Hi-Lo

That KME in your profile is RADICAL!
1:19 otw to a call and people just brake right in front of you leaving nowhere else to go😂
Have been there multiple MULTIPLE times !
Awesome Demo! The Italian ambulance tone can also be heard on Italian Fire Trucks.
4:06 You know most notabily if you went further up north to Portland or possibly Tigard. (I heard one of the FPIUS used the alt yelp) You would be hearing the alternate tones here and there.
The siren at 8:45 sounds a lot like ambulances i herd in Amsterdam when i went years ago
The wail 850-1700 4 seconds also seems to be a popular siren overseas, particularly in the UK.
The UK uses a lot of Whelen Alpha sirens - the Wail 850-1700 5.25s is the Carbide/Core equivalent of the Whelen Alpha wail tone.
Man they "borrowed" a lot of tones from other companies
Ultimate Hi-Lo is Whelen's rebranded Ultra Hi-Lo from a Touchmaster Delta siren.
@@PlatinumEagleStudiossame thing with the "Dozer" tone. Whelen's rebrand of the Touchmaster Hetro tone.
It’s so awesome they did. One unit replaces many.
Also they are standard tones some of them
5:10 That mechanical wail is just WICKED!
I wish it was the old three tone siren!
Me too
3:32-3:40
11:20-11:30
Those two tones are the swedish police sirens before standby s07 and S09 came

@@OregonFireBuff cool, I’ve done similar. My solution was putting the speaker in a folded up pillow and stacking heavy stuff on it.
I’m surprised in all of that they don’t have a super low pitch Airhorn like old Whelen and Federal signal ones
I love the martintone
11:00 best siren ever made, very rare now
I love fs smart siren.
Bad boys, whatcha gonna do?🤔
Wow, crazy
Four.39 . that scared me did it come with that?
It's not just France that uses that ambulance tone at 15:27, Spain also sometimes uses it as well.
Great stuff brother we’re awesome very beneficial and informative out there! 👍🏼 🫡
7:25 LBPD uses that tone

is there a way to change the siren so like t1 is wail but then you hit a button then its mech?

There are tons of ways to change the siren. That's something I love about programming these Whelen systems for customers.
1:13 to 1:17 is the sirens the police use in north america
11:20 Wow! That tone is from Peppa Pig!
No, it's from swedish police of the 90's
It's supposed to imitate the finnish sarco sos-106 hi-lo which was also used on our swedish police cars back in the early 90's-early 2000's
