- In the early 2000s Whelen came out with the X-Ecutor Mechanical Siren Simulator which was a full system. Around the same time they launched their line of Alpha and 295 sirens with a "Q" designation. These sirens had a simulated mechanical tone that was not quite the X-Ecutor, but more high pitched than their modern mechanical tone. Within a few years the X-Ecutor was discontinued and the "Q" tone changed to "M", altering the pitch. It is thought Federal Signal didn't take kindly to the use of "Q" in the name and the pitch of the tone. Modern programmable Whelen sirens have a mechanical tone as well, but it is slightly different than the "Q" or the "M". In this video all the variants are demonstrated with a variety of devices.

The electronic mechanical siren sounds like its congested!!! LOLOMG the refurbished EQ2 sounds great!!!!!
My mic isn't doing it any favors, it sounds a lot cleaner in person.
Sounds awesome! Vallejo has that siren on their old reserve engines and it's something I always love to hear. Could you do a demo of the other modes on the Xecuter(Wail & Yelp)?
Woah, talk about rare!👍
Very cool video and informative.
The Q tone is awesome don’t get me wrong but the bell tone will forever have my heart ♥️♥️
The executor is awesome! I was able to get my hands on one. I have the bell wired up in my truck currently. Gets a laugh out of a few people.
@@TheFirebuff17 ugh lucky. I’ve been trying to see if any one has the bell in a DVM file so I could dump it into core
I didn’t even know Whelen made electromechanical sirens
It is a sordid tale of model names and tones...
One thing that Whelen is not good at is sirens. Federal Signal is king when it comes to siren tones and their mechanical Q can’t be beat.
Apparatus buff 75 yrs in St Paul...on a box alarm, rigs would arrive from 3,4 directions...sounded like the cavalry ...a Q2b & Grovers is 🎵to my ears my whole life
My fire department uses this siren on our command, I wish I could find a siren like this for GTA though.
I think LCPDFR has the mod again... could be wrong
