"Dash C" I Finally Have a California Style Whelen 8000 Lightbar

- Whelen would add a front facing "California" red steady burn light to any 8000 series lightbar if the buyer ordered it as a "DASH C (-C)" model. This simply added the front facing red, a rear facing amber was a separate option that I of course also added. I was torn between making a "CTS style" bar with the CA options on the driver side only and a symmetrical build. I went symmetrical, and decided to do steady red and steady blue instead of two steady reds. I also decided the rear would be flashing amber/blue instead of amber/amber. Over all I am happy with the bar but it did remind me just how bad these bars washed out when you added options besides strobes.
Interesting timing on this video. This weekend I came across the "box of sadness", aka the box of broken blue Whelen 80/90 lenses... I'll try to remember to PM you on the board.
nice! love those strobes
Keep it amber blue, love that
Cool alteration to a decent condition 8000, I think the cruise lights despite adding to potential inefficacy of the 360s is the best thing about the 8000, as it showcases the fluting of the outer lenses, a sweet effect, the washout from the pars' is the main detraction from the strobes but still, very cool bar. I love the biased dwell time the flasher relay gives the amber as opposed to the blue, I noticed some older headlight flasher relays used to do this
Well done!! You have set it up in the best possible configuration!! Don’t change it!
Looks awesome.
Very nice!
This is one light bar that I never really liked.
Really cool light bar, For whatever reason these 80/90/8000s weren't really popular on that side of the rockies. I'm assuming whelens distribution network wasn't as developed as it became with the edge series
I think you have every version of this bar😂
I have thr vinyl covers for those domes if your interested
I probably could use a few....
@elightbars I have pairs for $35 or singles for $20 each.
