I’ve barely played 2d Metroid but for some reason I’m really excited. I’m ready to jump into some Metroid. Also, is it just me or do the emmi’s make me think of portal?
This is what we’ve wanted since Fusion, and being the first 2D Metroid since Super Metroid to hit a home console and not a handheld system makes it even better. I might have to get a week off of work.
18:28 "Normally in Metroid games, you start at the surface of the planet and you work your way deeper. But in this game, you actually start deep within the planet and work your way to the surface." That's basically a description for Hollow Knight: Silksong.
Honestly, out of all the games that just throw you into a world to explore and expect you to figure yourself out until you solve your current problem, no game I’ve played has done it better than Super Metroid. I get that there’s reading tutorials in this game considering new people may be coming in after this franchise being dormant for so long, but for us faithful Metroid fans I REALLY hope there’s an option to turn tutorials off in Metroid Dread. Figuring stuff out myself is a lot more fun than being told what to do and it makes the experience far more immersive and challenging.

I think this is my favorite iteration of Samus’ character design. Her new look is feminine and fierce, and has a neat blend of the Other M style Varia suit (albeit new color scheme) but with noticeable fusion-suit aesthetic as well. I’m so looking forward to this game!
@@fezguy89 I concur with this. Super may take some getting used to, because it makes use of basically EVERY button on the controller. It lets you remap controls, but with the caveat that aim up and aim down MUST be on L or R. Try to set L or R to another control and those controls are disabled. ...But that may not entirely be an issue, depends on how you play. In my opinion Super Metroid's one flaw is that it has a run button. It HURTS to hold that and try to jump AND shoot! It's still an absolutely amazing game in spite of this, though! ABSOLUTELY play it. If you have Switch Online, awesome! You have the game for free in the SNES library! My personal top 3 recommendations for Metroid games to play first are Super, Prime 1, and Fusion. Keep in mind that Prime 1 is an FPS, but MAN does it work so well with the Metroid style of play! Fusion is extremely linear, but it's still a game worth playing. (And hey, Dread's a sequel to it. Might help you understand the story!) And if you like the feel of the stalking horror this game's giving off, you might like Fusion!
I’m just jealous that these guys get to play the game early despite it being their job. I’d give up my soul to be able to play even a minute of this game tbh. Hopefully we’ll get a demo, but outside of testfires, Nintendo doesn’t drop demos of their big first-party games very often.
I'm guessing that needle the EMMI use to kill Samus is also for extracting her DNA since she has the last piece of Metroid DNA in the universe inside her.
One thing I noticed after watching this agin for the 20th time: Adam is voice-acted!! Turn up your volume and go to around 11:40 and you can hear "Uploading data" before hearing Adam say "Both EMMI you encountered are-" before the tree house cuts him off

I absolutely love the design of the EMMI. Although, I might be biased since it reminds me so much of General Grievous from Star Wars, who is super cool
this looks freakin awesome; I can't believe I'm seeing a Fusion sequel after it was scrapped almost 20 years ago.
Seeing the words Metroid Dread on the screen was like seeing a dead person brought back to life.
I'm so excited for this. I've wanted to see what happened to Samus after Fusion considering she is now an enemy to the Galactic Federation AND she is technically the last living Metroid.
More like a dread person hehehehehehehehehehe
@@donutholebandit more like a you stole my joke! I thought i was really extra clever for thinking of it all by myself but it turns out i wasn't i got bested by another and i dont even like punctuation anyway kbye
Metroid Undread
Aww, but I getcha, that's awesome!
That would explain a few things. I'm assuming this game takes place in a Galactic Federation HQ and they've built robots to hunt Samus down for her DNA.
From Metroid prime 3 to now...wow I wish it was MP4 but 2 Metroid games are a win
while prime is exciting, i’m more eager to see a continuation of the main storyline.
It will hopefully keep us busy until we get more news on Prime 4.
tbh i prefer this, but you do you.
Which two.
@@somethingofnote9241 As a fan of both 2d metroid and 3d metroid, the prime games I have to say I love more, but I think we can all agree they are both amazing, and metroid dread and prime 4 is a win for everyone.
After this I had best hear that EVER Metroid fan not only bought the game but preordered the collectors edition. After begging for more we're finally getting it, and it's a continuation as well. So it's time to put your money where your mouth is fellow Metroid fans. Show them you really care about this franchise.
You can't get the collectors edition, yet because I'm there when you can
Oh we will, we will
Is there a collector’s edition??
@@RiRyn27 Yep, though it's sold out everywhere atm.
I need to buy a Switch first man, give me time 19 years wasn't enough xD
Halo infinite: im the best game of E3
Metroid dread: hold my stalking robot
As far as I'm concerned: I'LL TAKE BOTH!
@tiggy wiggo same
Watching the Halo trailers, I discovered... I really don't care about Halo anymore. Metroid, oh the other hand, has me doing the line from How to Train Your Dragon, "you're as beautiful as the day I lost you."
And BOTW 2? 🤔
@@julsrodriguez6500 I think they mean games released, if not then botw2 by a landslide
I cannot wait for this game. I can't believe we are finally getting this game after years and years of Dread being in the treasure chest. I remember when this game was originally announced for Nintendo DS.
This looks like such a smooth evolution off of Samus Returns, which is an awesome game on its own of course.
The animations are so cleannnnn, wow. Samus is shmoovin as she should be. Looks great!
“How good are you at playing this game?”
Treehouse play tester: somewhere between extremely good and god awful
Literally everyone with a new game
I thought I was the only one
They are trying to show off the game and so they want to intentionally get caught to show off the EMMI
Cass&Crew Well I’m sure she’s already played this at least a couple of times before because she already knew where some secrets and stuff was.
This looks epic and I’m preordering this game
I gotta get that special edition
Don't dude. Pre-orders are an absolute scam. Wait for the game to come out and see the reactions. If you are buying digital it's pointless especially.
@@TeaRektum no
@@TeaRektum no one is buying this digital. BTW The special editions are already sold out in America but we got plenty here in Australia. You can't wait if you want the SE
the game is absolutely gorgeous
it looks like a mobile game lol
@@cacaulaymulkin7724 I don’t think that this looks like a mobile game I actually think the graphics are great for Nintendo switch at 60fps
This looks so good, better than I imagined it'd be. I set my expectations low as to not be disappointed, but it really is blowing me away.
Can't wait to play it!
No one's going to comment that they actually referred to Samus as "badass?"
Twice, heh
I mean, are they wrong though?
@@morganr9825 No, not at all.
Why did you feel the need to highlight it?
@@purebaldness What is that supposed mean? An official Nintendo video where they refer to one of their own characters as that took me by surprise.
As someone who played their first metroid game (super metroid) a few months ago, I’m extremely excited for this!! It looks like the movement will be really really clean, and that’s so important for a good game. Not at all disappointed with no prime 4 news, this is amazing!!
I am so excited for this game, it looks so good! I actually prefer the 2D Metroids, so this will naturally be a day 1 purchase for me!
Man, I gotta say I dig Samus' new look.
I fell out of my chair and actually hurt my neck when I saw the words "Metroid 5", I was so excited
Hope you're okay

Played my first Metroid in 1990! Played all since then (Most in the release year)! Super Metroid will Allways be in my Top 3 videogame of all Time! Glad Nintendo does a real Sequel after all this years!
That was metroid 3, this is 5. You must have missed Metroid Fusion
Never played a Metroid game before. But after seeing this gameplay, I’m definitely gonna pick it up
Go play the others, they’re all amazing (aside from Metroid Other M)
Idk why but I’m getting unreasonably hyped for this game

The suit is so so gorgeous, oh my god

Overly calm voice
Well SOMEONE'S gotta maintain professional composure, and it's CLEARLY not us.
When EMMI started chasing Samus, I was getting extreme SA-X vibes from Fusion.
That faker still gives me nightmares to this day.
Same, same. SA-X is a part of our memories, always
I like how the camera zooms in for cutscenes so seamlessly
I need to pause every couple of minutes just to remind myself that what I'm watching is real. I've waited so long and this looks so good I almost don't believe my eyes.
That chasing robot reminds me of how Mr X chases you in Resident Evil 2
It's a gameplay evolution of the SA-X from Metroid Fusion
More like the SAX or the space pirates from Zero Mission.
Haven't played Fusion, have you?
@@otacon8907 And Zero mission.
Even more dangerous, considering you can't even stun them.
I’ve barely played 2d Metroid but for some reason I’m really excited. I’m ready to jump into some Metroid. Also, is it just me or do the emmi’s make me think of portal?
It’s the red, black, and white color scheme, which Portal, especially the turret enemies, has in spades
Super Metroid is the greatest game of all time! Shame on you! Get with it baby!
A lot of portals visual design is very similar to prime, so it seems like its come full circle
Give Super Metroid a try, it's the third game in the main series while this is five.
@@TayoEXE I tried super Metroid for a bit but couldn’t figure it out. Might go back to it to try again though.
This is what we’ve wanted since Fusion, and being the first 2D Metroid since Super Metroid to hit a home console and not a handheld system makes it even better. I might have to get a week off of work.
My favourite bit is when Metroid is getting chased by general grevious!
Samus' movements look so crisp. So fluid and precise. Can't wait for this
I can already tell that E.M.M.I. is going to give me nightmares.
When she ran past that save room my heart skipped a beat 😂

"Normally in Metroid games, you start at the surface of the planet and you work your way deeper. But in this game, you actually start deep within the planet and work your way to the surface."
That's basically a description for Hollow Knight: Silksong.
Haha this looks incredible. Definitely going to get
The bar is set for Metroid Prime 4. Water Physics, Volumetric Lighting, Volumetric Particles. Prime 4 better have these too.
the animations and improved counter make me very excited!!
'That's almost 2 decades!' You're acting like this is a selling point, but really it shouldn't be. I am super happy this exists though, I LOVED Samus Returns, even if the Amiibo stuff was kinda dumb. Here's hoping I don't need a Samus amiibo for Hard Mode on this one, ahaha.
The amiibo just give you an extra health tank and an extra missile tank according to the website
@@TheDuckyDino you needed an Amiibo to unlock fusion mode, the hardest game mode, among other features
@@tjtribble. the website for dread said the amiibos are only used for the extra health and missiles

Okay, I’m not sure you might agree with me on this, but this game deserves a spot in the game of the year awards. This looks so incredible!
I'm so happy they keept good ideas of Samus Returns!
The transistions from gameplay to cutscenes are great.
I love the people of Niintendo Treehouse. They are so warm and wholesome~ Exactly the vibe Nintendo gives me. Much love to them for their efforts.
The 'feel' of this game looks just about perfect, smooth flow. A delight to play I'm sure.
I'm getting a switch just for this game.
I remember looking at forum posts wondering if they would show Metroid Dread at E3 2006. Seeing this actually happen is so surreal. This is a preorder and take they day off work game for me
I can still hardly believe this game is actually happening...
THANK YOU NINTENDO.
I think this is my favorite iteration of Samus’ character design. Her new look is feminine and fierce, and has a neat blend of the Other M style Varia suit (albeit new color scheme) but with noticeable fusion-suit aesthetic as well. I’m so looking forward to this game!
I have never played a Metroid game in my life but this makes me wanna play them.
Play Super Metroid or Metroid Fusion while you wait. You will not be disappointed
@@fezguy89 yep, those were the two I was thinking.
I would also recommend playing Samus returns if you have a 3ds it should help you get used to the counter attack and the smoother movement
@SNES Nes i lol'd when you said other m
I’m just jealous that these guys get to play the game early despite it being their job. I’d give up my soul to be able to play even a minute of this game tbh. Hopefully we’ll get a demo, but outside of testfires, Nintendo doesn’t drop demos of their big first-party games very often.
The speedruns of this game are gonna be so cool.
To answer, she's probably like;
Samus: ok, shoot it with the cannon.
Plink.
Samus: ok, missiles.
Plink
Samus: ok, new plan: run.
I'm guessing that needle the EMMI use to kill Samus is also for extracting her DNA since she has the last piece of Metroid DNA in the universe inside her.
I really love how she put one front in front of the other while walking, such a cool detail
This and Mario Party are gonna make october epic
One thing I noticed after watching this agin for the 20th time: Adam is voice-acted!!
Turn up your volume and go to around 11:40 and you can hear "Uploading data" before hearing Adam say "Both EMMI you encountered are-" before the tree house cuts him off
The continuation we’ve been waiting for.
Finally, after 19 years i'm so excited about how they polish everything and it's more amazing than i ever expect since, the title metroid dread was release 14 years ago
The best Direct in years!
I don't even watch *Let's Plays* anymore but even I'm excited to see *NintendoCapriSun* let's play this lol
YESSS!!! More Metroid!!! Whether it be 2D or 3D is perfectly cool with me. Bring on more Metroid! My mind is blown that Dread is actually real
Chris Seavor of Conker's Bad Fur Day says that a sign of great game is if there's an animation for walking into a wall rather than just walking in place so this is clearly in good hands.
Why are people complaining about this, it’s amazing!!!
Now you people need to go and GET THIS GAME and who knows maybe a few E3s from now we'll be surprised there is a new F-zero as well
