This Cantata series is splendid but people should be aware that the skill exhibited here on the slide horn is exceptional. The instrument is very rare and arguably the most difficult of all brass instruments to play; the performer here is Olivier Picon and his performance is outstanding by any standards.
What I love about Maestro Lutz and this band is that they are always able to bring out the wonders in each and every one of these cantatas, from the best-known to the more obscure. Many of these have become to me like new pieces in the hands of Herr Lutz.
Merci.
This cantata makes my heart soar to heaven and brings great joy to my soul. What an excellent presentation by all the musicians, singers and the conductor.
I think these performances are fantastic! But the audience reaction always seems so subdued, some people aren't even applauding... I'd be on my feet cheering, for sure!
It wasn't Corona. It was the evil scheming intended to nudge or force us into an experimental medication... in order to make the richest even richer. Sad and shocking truth. The scientists in the German institute RKI ( "Robert Koch Institute" ) had known it from the beginning. The leaked protocols prove it. And explain why they had published them only half blackened.... The evil people had not been exposed and stopped by the scientists. There WERE scientists, indeed, who spoke out - but they were silenced. A crime against humanity.
By the way: This is the German Innerlichkeit ! There are so deeply tauchen by the Musical that they nieder some seconds to be able to break the magical silence. A star violinist who gave concerts all around the world was asked which people were the most musical one. He answeted: "The Germans! Why? You can measure musical feeling by counting the seconds an audience needs to be able to applaud.... " So, it's not a lack of feeling - it's being overwhelmed by feelings that makes them keeping quiet in love, adoration and gratefulness .
Is there any particular criterion that governs the decision whether or not to include interludes by the continuo keyboards between the strophes of final, otherwise "cantional" style chorales (I notice none occur here, but have heard them in others). Thanks, Peter Watchorn (wonderful performance, by the way - bravo and thanks!).
Hello! Thank you very much for this entry! Tell me, what exactly is the name of the brass wind instrument in the first issue? I have not seen such yet. A kind of trombone?
Hello Dmitry, it is a "corno da tirarsi". We don't know how it looked like in reality because there isn't any existing these days. But with this - recently built -instrument we think Oliver Picon comes near to the original sound in Bachs time. It sounds great anyway, and so it cannot be wrong. But there are of course other solutions to this problem, and they aren't wrong either.

Thank you very much for your kind words. We will pass this on to Olivier Picon.
I imagine it as an stand in for the concept of the Ram's Horn in the Psalms
where is this slide horn?
Marvellous. I first studied this cantata for a music exam in 1958 and have loved it ever since. This is a fine performance

Thank you very much for your comment. We feel the same way you do, every concert contains a surprise and shows the quality of Bach and Lutz's work.
Peace be with you all! Thank you very much for this wonderful Cantata.

I have listened to the first fiftieth Bach's cantatas and this is one of my favorites.
if you were only allowed and able to listen to Bach if you were a believer, I wouldn't hesitate for a moment to become a believer.
...is it really possible to stay being an unbeliever listening to Bach's cantatas...? Or his oratories or his High Mass in B-Flat ?
Alles ist gesagt. Bravissimo!
What an unusual cantata, lovely bass aria and I love chorales that are accompanied. Peace be with you indeed....Bravo Maestro et al.

Herzlichen Dank!
Verehrte Frau von Bodelschwingh, sind Sie verwandt mit Friedrich v.B./Bethel?
Ja
Fantastic performance, including by the unusual slide horn. Love it.
Qué obra tan llena de contenido y mensaje. La he disfrutado plenamente. Una presentación perfecta. Vielen Dank !!!!!!
Bellísima obra musical!!
Impecable interpretación vocal e instrumental!!

¡Completamente de acuerdo! Impecable
Fabulous
Todos os dias ouço! Acho lindo o trabalho! Parabéns a todos!
The bass aria starts almost at a frantic pace, then it slows down and sounds pastoral. Only Bach could do this in a smooth manner.
Absolutely superb performance of a superb work of musical art.
I love it - the opus and the performance
Exactly!
This is what Bach thought.
Bravo 👌
I'm always struck by the quality of the recordings and of course wonderful performances
💯
Oh magnificent!

Come along, dear friend, after Corona! You're most welcome.

Compared with the recording I have of Cantata 67, they cut parts out of both the 1st and 3rd Recitative's...quite a bit!
Fun!
Well.... This is outstanding ! The piece AND the performance.

@@konrad.bach4ever, Thank you very much!
By the way, "corna da tirarsi" literally means "slide horn."
What's the name of that brass instrument that looks like a trumpet and a french horn had a baby?
Slide Horn
