Bach eventually provided a cantata for each Sunday of the liturgical year in Leipzig, but that doesn't mean that a new cantata was performed every Sunday. @@ericfern8869 I think that 17th-18th century composers/ musicians were not stricken with our modern, frantic, hurried, assaulted senses. Too many modern interpreters of Baroque music perform it so unnervingly fast that all one hears is an incomprehensible sonic blur.
