Mine is used for gunsmithing tools and the like , had it for many years and is holding up fine. Great idea on the bottom feet , the braces can scratch up whatever it sits on
Excellent review, thanks. Need a home for my small-but-growing collection of luthier tools..was contemplating building the cabinetmaker's box from the Jim Stack book, but this looks like it'll fill the bill nicely (and inexpensively) until I eventually find the time to do so. The only thing I don't like is the lack of drawer stops, but it should be easy enough to fabricate something.
Thanks for showing the construction and giving your thoughts on this. I've always wondered if it would be a total POS or if it would be Ok for an avg guy for some avg home shop use. Plastic feet was a good idea. I have to add side handles so I will shop for some. Its 67.99 right now so I may try and get one. I love your cutting oil/brush storage. I see it looks like a PVC Pipe cap and a small dia piece of PVC tube for the brush what did you use for the angled part? Maybe you should show how you made them for a easy video idea sometime? Thanks again.
Thanks for the review. I will probably be waiting for the next 25% off coupon and get one if it will fit on my bench... Could you measure the height of the chest with the top all the way open? I have a shelf above my bench and want to be sure I can open the chest top all the way without hitting the shelf.
For the amount of money spent it's an excellent little tool box or Hobbie box! I repair my Dupont lighter collection and this is perfect for my precision tools! I'm buying one now!
Went with a used kennedy and I'm glad I did. These cheap wood boxes look nice at first glance but the little details will get on your nerves constantly. Things like the slop of the drawers, the fact that they come out with no stop, cheap lock, nearly useless front plate that breaks easily, poor design of the drawer dividers, felt instead of wool...staples used, mdf...the bitterness of saving a buck creeps up on you but it will creep up and bite your ass. If you are making a quality product, using quality tools helps. I don't want to be reminded of cheapness while I'm working.
I just got mine for Christmas. Beading supplies. I gently unlocked and opened out the table and it has cracked on the seam. My husband tried to remove it to repair it and it doesn't come out. He took it to the shop to repair and reinforce. Its not 69$ anymore. I stil love it. I will have to be very careful.
Thanks for the review. much appreciated , and well done :) I just picked one of these up today that I plan on modifying a bit. One thing I can't seem to find is what kind of wood is it made from? Everywhere I look it just labels it as "hardwood" do you have any idea what it's made from? I'm wanting to stain this a much darker color. I got a few ideas to make this a little nicer looking so I can use it for my pocket knives, watches, wallets, etc on my night stand
I have limited funds to support this home machine shop hobby, and I’d rather spend my limited funds on tooling instead of high dollar storage boxes! A box isn’t going to help me make anything on the lathe or mill, so I’d rather low ball the box and save $$$ for the stuff that produces! If I win the lottery however, Gerstner here I come!
Biggest piece of crap I have ever bought. I had misgivings from the start. It was expensive and the locks looked cheap. I needed something to store a lot of small items and I thought I would give it a try. Well I loaded it and locked the drawer part. BIG MISTAKE. We can’t get it opened. We have tried for a couple of days and no go we may have to drill out the lock. I don’t even know if we can do it with out ruining the drawers behind it. I would return it but it is full of my stuff!
You don't understand the Harbor Freight concept these items are assembled kits that must be finished and detailed to function as they should. That said I would pre- inspect it in the H/F parking lot before driving home. Super picky people should buy a Gerstner Box
Most useful. I'm making a box and have watched load of videos so far and this is the first video I've seen where someone measures anything.

Thanks for giving the inside dimensions of the drawers very helpful since you can't get that from the website.
I thank you for such a thorough and thoughtful review! All the best and take good care!
Excellent review - thank you. I have one also and I'm very happy with it.

Well done. One of these is on my list now, thanks buddy.

I second that!
Can I ask, where did you get the feet you put on it?
Thanks for showing the construction of the drawers, etc 👍
Glad you found it helpful
That's good information. Thanks for sharing!
What was that white ruler, kinda looked like an incra ruler but better visibility.
KnockingDiesel it is a 6” steel ruler made by PEC, 32nds & 64ths on one side and mm on back.
Loving the FJ seam right on the front

Harry Hopkins you will need 25 1/2” of height above your bench.
@@welcometothemachineshop466 It will fit! Thanks!

Good looking box. I was going to get one , put over the last year I've acquired 3 Kennedy boxes.
I’ve always wanted one of those old multi-drawer Kennedy’s, but every one I find for sale is evidently full of gold!

Great Advice. Thanks 😊
Your welcome! The tool box survived an out of state move and is holding up well, no issues whatsoever.

Thank you for the dimensions. A lot of these reviews on here do not provide this.
Glad it helped. It is holding up well, I haven’t had any issues with it.
Do you get some kind of payment for every “um” in this video?
Yes I do
Um, yes he does, and um, we love every one of them! Um, have a great day!
Thanks for the review. much appreciated , and well done :)

I would get a brass tag with my engraved name on it an put it on the box right over that finger joint on the front of the chest.
Seems pretty decent for the money.
Great review. Thank you. It looks really nice but This is NOT worth $80. You just saved me a lot of money.
Good job thanks

Sorry to hear that. You must of gotten a bad one, mine is still fine.
I wanna guy on guy bust chops; make jokes; accents and all... But since the video and topic are terrific better just say thanks.
Take it back to the shop, it's faulty. I would not accept that poor finish. I doubt it was sold as a seconds item.

ah...and uh...umm...and uh...all right...so...but um...3 minutes before anything was said about the box...so ah.
