Добавлен 2 сен 2017
Welcome to the machine...shop. I am hobby machinist, my machining knowledge consists of a mix of RUclips videos from creators such as Mr Pete 222, OX Tool and That Lazy Machinist to name just a few of many talented individuals, 40 years of experience as a mechanic and good old trial and error. I try to include as much of the setups and actual operations in my videos so that they may inspire other hobbyists to get out into the shop. I also enjoy woodworking, archery, tools, building and fixing stuff and other craft projects. I welcome comments and suggestions, if you enjoy the content then please subscribe, thanks for stopping by.

Sterling Drill Sharpener for Hill Top Machine Works
Loving the FJ seam right on the front
Still have to crawl under to do the filter!
Year 2024. Just bought one for $40 something. Box says bends up to 20 GA steel. (Not 16!) Bending .025 inch aluminum works OK.
Nice Review & Test !!! I would have liked to have seen some bends with lighter gauge sheets to learn the TRUE capacity of this Brake to give a nice, tight 90 - what the max ideal would be for this $40 Brake.
ya find 3d printable dividers on prusa printables search for Sealey Ap 1608W
Well that shows the quality of your work , thought it was new! good to see a shop update.
Thank you
Nice. Vehicle lifts are so handy and no more wrenching lying on your back on the floor. So much better to do it standing up.
You ain’t kidding
HAY!!!!! Its been a minuet. nice addition. 👍👍🤘
Good to hear from you
I bought that same brake and had the same results. Mine has screw in handles. Need a dozen C clamps to hold it down.
Uh um um you know um but um uh. Great review.
Hi, quick question, after you done this, when you remove the oil filter how’s the drip of the oil? less or same? thanks for this video 👍🙂
still have to go under car to remove oil filter
Even with the top access oil filters, don't you have any spillage? Also, why not use the oil fill tube vs. the dipstick tube?
Per the instructions only a maximum of 16 gauge aluminum and 18 gauge sheet steel should be used. He’s exceeding the maximum by trying to use 16 gauge steel.
Just found your channel today and watched all of the playlist videos for the Elmer radial engine. Great job. I downloaded the drawings which really helped me to follow along. Subscribed also. 😃
Thanks for stopping by, glad you enjoyed the videos.
Shopping without coupons is throwing money away
I've used this with great results but it's really best for thin aluminum, like a notch above flashing. Also, if you're trying to bend harder aluminum, even thin, remember that it has a grain. Try bending in both directions on a sample. Generally it will bend easier if the bend is in line with the length of the original sheet it came from at the mill.
72 bucks for an old bicycle pump and a plastic bucket.... I coulda made that from junk cheaper for you...
so .. would longer handles for more leverage make it work better ??
Couldn't get mine to work, following the instructions that came with it. Tried to return it but the store would not take it back because it had a little oil in it. Didn't bother to go through the rigmarole making phone calls.
Obviously too late now but the easy way to do these is to use a 4 jaw chuck. The jaws fit perfectly into the gaps between the spokes.
Wow. You went a lot further than I would have gone with it. 1. Needs to be mounted to steel table. 2. Does not do 18 gauge steel... at least not one as wide as the brake itself. You figured something would have broke? DUDE! Your video could EASILY have been blocked if you filmed your injury which could have been VERY ugly if you did. (glad you weren't hurt honestly but I was actually afraid!) The use of the adjustable wrenches was a step too far in my opinion and I'm sure other commenters agree -- haven't read any other commenters. The use of the added C-clamps was a good idea so if I decide to pick one up, I will take into account ALL of these factors... lighter material, mounting better and no safety risks.
While I appreciate the information I feel like you could have done the entire video in 1 minute and why try to bend an 18 gauge piece of steel when you said you bought it to do a small job using aluminum? Some RUclips guys just try to hard to put up content. If you want better feedback try condensing you video and don’t waste so much time trying to figure out what to say next. I’m not being harsh, I’d subscribe and like your videos but every time I watch one I’m waiting and waiting to see what I clicked on the video for. Sorry man.
This is probably my favorite engine from the Elmer Verburg book, and you did a really beautiful piece of work , that’s my kind of art.
Looks great thanks for sharing this series.
Excellent review - thank you. I have one also and I'm very happy with it.
Your review helped me decide to get the 18inch. It will work for me, since I am bending 18 gage sheets that are 7 inch wide. Love your accent.
Great demo - thank you!
Good review. I'm looking for an extractor. HF product is a consideration
You did a good job making the attachment. It really looks nice. I was thinking, not being critical, but I was trying to see how many times it takes to get it centered right on. Practice always makes better. You would hope that if you start with a with a good eyeball first, that can you get it on center taking the measurement twice and then the third verifies it's centered. Now I'll go back and count. You did X and then did Y. I wonder if you did X and Y together the first time and then again, if it would have been quicker. I'd have to sketch it out and write everything down then move it. Most of the time you would be trying to line up on a hole or bore and here you had an OD. An edge finder couldn't do an ID easily which makes the zero set even more important. I wonder what's considered the fastest way of lining up without the help of a CNC or computer. This may be it.
Can't believe you didn't chock the wheels, and more importantly disconnect the battery. You're living on the edge
Who the fuck disconnects the battery and chock the wheels?????
I have a Gen 5 Exploder with sealed PTU and rear diff. I was looking for electric pumps but after your excellent first video and this one I will be going to my local Harbor Freight to purchase this handy item. Thanks for the great demonstration and follow up to show it is a good product.
The ptu is quite easy to service
Awesome very nicely done 😮
For the amount of money spent it's an excellent little tool box or Hobbie box! I repair my Dupont lighter collection and this is perfect for my precision tools! I'm buying one now!
similar to my rong fu ❤
Why does the hole go all the way through the piston, and why is the counterbore needed?
The V-block setup is a great idea!
Why is the undercut necessary?
Working on this now. Your videos are very helpful for clarification of the project. Thanks!
Your welcome, I am glad you find them helpful.
Is the oil extractor still working, have you upgraded, and what's your feelings about it compared to everybody else's brand?
Yes still working, I never used any other brand so I really can’t compare it to others.
@@welcometothemachineshop466 are you still living on the edge with out using all safety measures?
I just bought one of these. I previously had the Top cider but that one stopped working. I like this one better especially since it has the holder on the side to put the tubes in when you're done with it. Also the top side are you can't see inside of it you can't just have to pick it up and feel how heavy it is.
i wonder if i can just use a plastic tube with an inline hand pump and a paint bucket to catch the oil? any thoughts?
Maybe, but that system relies on a siphon principle. This actually creates a vacuum.
this extractor is perfect if you can reach your filter from the top. if you have to use jacks to reach your oil filter it may not be worth it.
Agreed
I just got mine for Christmas. Beading supplies. I gently unlocked and opened out the table and it has cracked on the seam. My husband tried to remove it to repair it and it doesn't come out. He took it to the shop to repair and reinforce. Its not 69$ anymore. I stil love it. I will have to be very careful.
Bonito motor. Gosto dessa mistura de metal e madeira. Parabéns.
Speak up man!
This same pump now in 2022 is $144.99 at Arbor Freight...
Thank you for sharing. Very nice. Hard work pays off.👍👀
Thanks
That's an awesome nice looking shop. I have started building me a shop 6 different times. Never got one finished. Always had to move on to different a place. Maybe someday I will get one finished...
I was hesitating for a while but I am not getting any younger
@@welcometothemachineshop466 I totally understand that !!!
looking good man..👍👍
Thanks Shawn!
