    Abbey you are definitely onto something. A lot of those plant gums like xanthan gum are used in more “natural” curly hair products as the primary film former or holding agent to smooth down frizz and clump curls, so really all the product is doing is using these film formers to smooth the hair strands. I wonder if I applied a product like Obia Curl Enhancing Custard which has xanthan gum, carbomer, and plant oils and examined the hair on a microscopic level if it would have a similar result.

    My husband is a scientist, not for a beauty company. But recently something was discovered, that can seal split ends. It’s nothing that anyone would have expected and he is patenting it right now. But it also could take years or may never be able to seal all hairs on a head. It works in a lab, under the microscope, with single hairs.but you can’t manually seal each hair on a head, that would take an eternity,lol.

      Her husband probably will (and should) create his own hair products using the ingredient (once it's patented) similar to what K18 and Olaplex did. Olaplex patented it's star ingredient, bis-aminopropyl diglycol dimaleate, in 2015 and now the company itself is currently worth approx $14B. 😮 And get this, that patent won't run out until 2034!

      @@bklynbutters13 nah, the company owns everything a scientist invents while employed. And it’s questionable if it will ever be able to do it for a full hard of hair. Maybe it would first be a specialist treatment. But it works under microscope with single hairs. The research and development need to test and develop it further. It was an invention for something different actually, discovered by accident that it works for hair. It was just a joke of him that it could maybe be used to solve my severe split ends, that I got from being on bedrest for months while pregnant, laying on the left side. Obviously I can’t say much about it though.
      My husband gets a bonus for every patent he files for the corporation and if it gets to be used to make money, a further bonus. If something gets really huge, the scientist gets a small cut , like 10%-25% of the profit, so it really depends on the success of a product. We will see. But it definitely is good for his career .of course corporations want great scientists etc., so they have to give a nice profit to them or they get a bad reputation and nobody wants to work for them anymore.
      But it wasn’t found in the corporate laboratory, he discovered it while on parental leave, so we are looking to get a good lawyer, to find out, if he can keep the patent for himself or get a better deal from the corporation. But we also can’t afford the lab equipment that’s needed to make this a reality and not just a successful lab experiment. So probably it’s best to find a deal with his employer . This happens so often, to so many inventors. So in the end,the corporation gets the credit as most people never look up, who invented something in hair products etc. I mean how many consumers know who invented Olaplex?

Needless to say, they didn't respond and probably removed my comment but hopefully it may have opened at least one person's eyes. I've always had healthy, waist length hair & get asked what i use. Our hair type depends on our genetics & the way we care for it. I was taught to use a comb (rarely use a brush), limit heat (use diffuser & no hot setting), use fingers to comb wet hair when conditioning... and a personal choice of mine is to not process my hair. I am growing it long (my COVID hair) and have been struggling to keep it smooth and shiny. I always used Pantene in the past but everyone kept saying it was bad for your hair. Hence I began on a very expensive journey of trying to find that magical hair product that would fit the bill. Then one day I stumbled upon your channel and you said it was perfectly fine to use shampoos like Pantene. I switched back and my hair looks better than ever. I also watched your review of Color Wow dream coat, bought it, tried it and put it to the test here in good old Missouri heat and humidity. That stuff is the real deal. Game changer for someone with my hair type. Bought the curly version, blew my hair dry, curled it into beachy waves and, much to my surprise, slept on it, woke up with the exact curls I went to bed with, worked out, walked the dog and it still looked like I had just styled it. I can't thank you enough. I will be forever grateful for your channel and your expert advice. ❤❤❤

Balance365 talks about the diet industry and how they will dupe you as well. I remember telling someone that that Weight Watchers business model is all about getting repeat customers and that they don't actually want you to maintain your weight loss over time. I saw people tagging you in this, I’ve been waiting to hear your full thoughts! Every product from Briogeo I have tried made made my hair feel really dry/brittle. Love the aesthetic of their brand, but it’s a no from me.
    Have you seen Redkins marketing for their liquid acidic bonding conditioning spray? I know you tried it, but they are claiming to actually use it as a conditioner not a leave in? 🤔 Have you tried that? I am very curious!

    loved this video, thank you! I've become a little obsessed with snipping off damaged bits in my face framing 'bangs' each day. However, even though I do everything 'right' (e.g. oil mids and lengths, protective styling, minimal heat, good products) I seem to have new damage every single day?! Is this right? I'm a bit worried I end up cutting all my hair off :D any advice you can give would be much appreciated!

    • @buckyyyb
      @buckyyyb 7 месяцев назад

      1.) make sure you’re removing the oil properly. If you wash your hair first, try conditioning it first. This is purely anecdotal but I found it helps prevent protein buildup and makes hair smoother. 2.) read your daily shampoo and conditioner. What’s it say? Did you notice if it’s “volumizing” or “smoothing”? Those are styling ingredients. So even though it’s in a shampoo made for washing, those styling products can build up over time and make your hair brittle. 3.) get a clarifying shampoo. 4.) wash as often as you find you need. If your hair gets super oily no matter what, and you have to wash once a day every day? Do it. Not washing your hair can damage it as well. (Letting oil and bactieria build up on the scalp) 5.) wash your scalp. Never concentrate shampoo to the strands. Focus. On. The. Scalp. 6.) silk hair ties, silk pillowcase. 7.) make sure hair is 100% dry before sleeping.

    great video and good lesson! this isn't for me as i don't deal with split ends but would something like this be beneficial for those with split ends so that the split doesn't go higher up even if it isn't a permanent fix? like so they don't have to cut more of their hair off at a trim?

    • @krystademilio1256
      @krystademilio1256 Год назад

      Yes, that is why this video is a waste of time. She piles on tons of products that help with her damaged hair, so what is wrong with Briogeo coming out with their own product....how dare they

      @@krystademilio1256 Wrong. l believe all Abby was trying to tell us in this video is that brands (any brand) will try to deceive us with their words. As us consumers fall for it. That we should read the packaging carefully as well as have a look at the ingredients so we know exactly what the product will do for us. This way we don't expect more than what the product is able to deliver.

      @@janicedinapoli9615 what wording exactly did briogeo deceive everyone with?

    • @effullgent
      @effullgent Год назад +2

      @@krystademilio1256 I don't think she was targeting Briogeo specifically just using them as an example on how marketing is done to make us buy things and could potentially trick people. A lot of us who watch videos like this know split ends can only be fixed by a hair trim but many everyday people could look at this and assume it would genuinely fix them. I think that was the entire point of the video.
