Making the Lure Bow, Lure Holder

- I have had lots of requests for this video and I have been a bit reluctant to cough it up. The lure bow is the most versatile way to hold a lure while you're painting and clear coating your lures. I designed this lure holder a long time ago and it has been one of my favorite inventions. I hope this video inspires you to make them or at least come up with your own gizmo.

Thank s for sowing us how to build.
Your tip have been helped me alot.
Glad I could help
Engineered an awesome design! Thank you for sharing.
You bet!
Thank you!!!
Just began my journey as a lure maker and have Loved your videos. Thanks for your Passion and Desire to share your ingenuity with others! You are a bright light! Fun to unplug from the daily grind and focus on such a positive sport! I am an avid Fisherman and rod builder in MN and have invented a new things myself. I completely understand the desire to keep tight to the vest! Thanks for sharing the Lure Bow!! I really appreciate it and have components on the way to make some of my own! Also have some East Coast Resin coming too!! - Marcus
Best of luck...enjoy.
Благодарю за подсказку, мудрое решение, постараюсь повторить.
Yet again another very helpful video. Thank you for all the time you take to help others out with lure building. I’m a fledgling lure builder and your videos have helped tremendously!
Glad to help...thank you for the feedback. Cheers.
I too am an engineer. I found that I have much to learn from the "Engineered Angler". Great ideas, and a great engineering mind.
Thank you for all your videos.
Thank you.
Very helpfull, will try to built IT ...
Thanks for sharing that with us. Fantastic little tool, that is going to come in real handy. Thumbs UP
Hello from Greece.Grate idea solution and tutorial. Took me some time and trials to
copy the bow last week. l will remake it now. I like your thinkig and creativity.
Thanks allot!!!👍👍
Glad this is helping...cheers.
Brilliant solution and easy to make, thank you
You are welcome!
clear explanationa and visuals.. .thanks again!
That’s cool
Great idea!
Thanks!
Well thought out, nicely designed - thanks for sharing Franco!
My pleasure!
Cool...
Thank you for the ideas! Love watching your channel, I am also an engineer and I thoroughly enjoy your solutions and creativity in the lure making trade!
Awesome! Thank you!
nice, very practical.
Glad you think so!
Great tutorial! As usual , well thought out. . This is very helpful, Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Iam sitting hear watching this and then realised that hay i have all the things i need to make one,. soo now i have 3 to help me work on my lures. thanks for the great videos.
Glad I could help.
I’ve been waiting for so long. Thank you!!!
Yes you have...sorry. Hope it was worth the wait.
I was wondering what how you held your lures and now I know how to make my own! Yes, I'm a newbie😊 looking for a Hobby to do in my retirement
Enjoy.
I retired and continued to fish. I now make spinners, Crappie jigs, flies, leather craft. Furthermore, I turned pens for over ten years and had to quit that due to health issues. Now I took up airbrushing plastic lures for the senior fishing club that I'm in. I am always looking for something to do that I wasn't able to do when I was younger and had to work.
I really like the concept but need to come up with a version of using wire coat hangers. Why? Because it is free (or almost). 😁😁
Thank you sir!!!!
Most welcome!
Cool thanks for sharing mate, I’m actually just in the middle of up-grading my lure turner/chamber with an added heating element (bloody freezing over here in the uk 🇬🇧) 😱🥶😂.
So I’ll be making a few of these to go with it. 😎😎👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧🤞🤞
Thanks for sharing your lure bow. I noticed it in your videos and hoped you let us in on the secret.
You got it!
Good idea👌👌👌
Thank you! Cheers!
Hello Franco, brilliant video, having trouble locating suitable antenna for the telescopic rods any links, thanks 🙏

Great video as always, This is the idea I’ve been looking for. But I want to use it on lipless crank blanks where eyelet aren’t on front and back? Just thinking how it would work when rotating with weight shifting around while they turn 🤔
If you follow the part in the video on angling the hooks that hold the lure, you will have a holder that doesn't allow the lore to move around. Good luck.
Great idea & video. Thank you for sharing. Where do you get the wire? Link would be helpful.
I look forward to your videos. Have learned a lot. I have a question about your other lure holder, the one with the knobs on the ends for the "helping hands". Did you make the springs or purchase off the shelf? I am having trouble finding strong enough springs in a small enough diameter. ?? Sorry for getting off subject.
thanks for your help.
Joe N.
I bought the springs. But if you use a flexible extension arm you can do without the springs.
@@EngineeredAngler Thanks , will try it
Have you done Any experimenting with the Spaz Stik color change holographic paints? I know you made a video on their Chrome paints, but was curious if you tried the Holographic paint yet.
No...but I made a video on another brand of color shift paints.
I’ve wasted so much wire trying to mimic your bows... now you come out with a video about it? After I developed my own EA hack... but seriously, thanks for simplifying it and “finally” sharing it, It’s a super simple, yet genius idea.
It's a good exercise for the engineering/design side of the brain...glad the video came in handy.
Have you ever made your own bills for crankbaits? I want to start molding my own for my crankbaits, and I have never attempted to do so yet. I really enjoy your videos. When I get out of my prototype stage and finalize my lure. I would love to send you one to try out. Thanks for the interesting videos.
Yes I have...I have both made them from sheet material (Lexan and aluminum) and I have molded them directly with the lure body. They are easy to make but if you plan to recreate a lure, with the same bib, I think using the pre-made version saves a lot of time. Time you can spend carving new designs...Cheers.
@@EngineeredAngler Is a store bought bill made of polystyrene? I would like to make a mold and be able to reproduce them. I didn't know if that is possible?
The bill are usually made of polycarbonate.
Most of my lures are around 2" in length. Your bows will not support anything that size, so I will have to modify it to fit my small lures. The top part of the bow is measured at 4.5". If I reduce it down to 2.5 inches, would that suffice for 2" lures?
that should work.
After doing one at 2-1/5", 3-1/4", I finally settled on 3-3/4" for lures at 2" in length.
Aqueous system chrome plating peels off quickly?
If we have epoxy coating, will it prevent peeling?
The epoxy clear coat should help. But in my experience, actual chrome plating on plastic fails because the heat expansion between the materials is too different. It is used extensively on automobiles but tends to start to peel after a few hot summers.
Quick question: What rpm motor do you recommend for turning the lures with East Coast Resin? I am hanging them and already tired of "drip-duty" lol - Thanks!
4 to 7 rpm works well. here's a video of building a simple foldup lure turner: ruclips.net/video/wT7v7AHut5k/видео.html
Hi. cast epoxies are very transparent. Can cast type epoxies be used in lure coating? The hardeners of adhesive type epoxies are colored yellow. What kind of epoxy should I buy for the coating?
There are clear 2-part epoxies that work well. I would recommend using Famowood Glaze Coat Epoxy. It's a good place to start and it can be purchased in small quantities. If you want an even lower investment, you can use any two part quick setting (10min.) epoxy adhesive. Just be sure it says "sets clear". Good luck.
Wire source please? What length are yours?
I show the wire source in the video.
Wire source please.?
I show it in the video...
You provided the diameters, but I didn't see where you said where you get it from. What length dovyou get. Thank you.
Sorry, I placed a current ebay source in the description. Hope the link works...
@@EngineeredAngler Thank you so much for the link! BTW, I know how much time and effort goes into making these videos. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
