    Just did this repair on my 2014 jeep Patriot and it still holds up !! Didn’t even scratch my cd that I forgot to take out lol ! Thanks a million Doug

    I was having the sound fade out every 5 seconds, for about a second, with my aux cord and on radio stations in my GF’s 2014 Jeep Patriot. I had a slightly different radio (the Sirius XM enabled one) that disassembled the same way and applied heat and pressure to the same controller with a heated metal tong 3 times. After a few minutes of listening the issue seems resolved!!! Thanks for the straight to the point, easy to follow video! Hopefully anyone reading gives it a try.

    Worked like a charm on my 2016 Jeep Patriot. I used a blow dryer on the hot setting with a tin foil funnel on the end. Thank you for sharing!

    Just made this repair to my 2014 Jeep Wrangler radio this past weekend. Worked perfectly! My AM/FM stopped working a few months ago and then last week, the radio sound would go on and off every few seconds. This repair fixed both issues! Thanks for the video!!

    This worked for my wife's 2015 Patriot Latitude. The first method didn't work, but I heated up a 4" deck screw head and pressed firmly for a few seconds, heated a little more and tried again. Worked like a charm. Thank you for the video!

    I just completed this on my 2012 Jeep grand Cherokee and it fixed both my AM/FM channels. I recommend wearing gloves when you get to the metal frame to add grip and prevent slips / cuts. I went to Walmart and got a $10.47 heat gun. THANKS!

    2016 Jeep Patriot radio- all audio functions would play for about 5 seconds and then shut off for about 5 seconds, and do this repeatedly. I tried your procedure and it worked flawlessly. Thanks.

    Can confirm this worked great using a heat gun, and the cone shaped attachment that comes with alot of them now, hit it on high for about 5 seconds or so hold it down 30 or so and worked great again. My question is, who the hell was the first person to figure this out lol

      There are a couple components on these Uconnect head units that are known for this issue. Some of the repair services are charging around $150 to do this, I'll be it in a professional warrantied setting. A proper electronics repair shop that does reflowing and SMD can do this probably slightly cheaper as well. I believe there is a filter, and a cap that is also known for failing on both the high-speed and low-speed units

    I had the exact same problem on my 2014 Patriot. I followed this recommendation and it worked perfect! I did it a little differently though as I don’t have a heat gun. I disassembled it exactly as explained then put the radio on a sheet of cardboard on a baking sheet at 405 degrees for 10 minutes. As soon as I pulled it out I used a wooden spoon to press on the offending chip for 30 seconds then let the whole unit cool for about 20 minutes. Once it was cooled I reassembled everything then installed it back in the car and everything worked perfectly! Prior to losing all sound completely there was a high pitched whine but even that is completely gone. Great bud and thanks for the help!

  • @motomania3094
    @motomania3094 9 месяцев назад +4

    I just used a bbq lighter and gently heated the chip while pressing. Worked like a champ. Radio fixed. So if you are careful, you do not need the fancy heat gun set up. Elaborate and cool if you want to go that route. Bottom line, this works!

    • @Ellerbees
      @Ellerbees 4 месяца назад +1

      I just now noticed you said the Bluetooth always works. That's pretty strange. I would still bet on it being the same issue. The only other weird thing mine ever did was when I'd first get in the vehicle, for roughly 10-15 minutes I would get only static on every AM/FM station. Then at some point it would suddenly start working. I pushed every combination of buttons in that car trying to effect whatever that was when I would get only static, but it only ever started working when it felt like it. Have not had that issue since doing the video procedure.

      You can find the premium model that works with the low speed cam bus for less than 250 refurbished. If you had the basic unit, this provides the touch screen and all the likes. The basic unit with serious satellite is cheaper. My head unit finally failed after repair was done a year ago. I am upgrading to an aftermarket Android head unit. It is also possible to tie in all the steering wheel control and such with these.
