You may have inadvertently done a spoiler there. There is probably a mad hair raising car chase at the end, with occasional shots of the penguin on the back seat adding light relief comical moments. Penguin manages to escape Batman and Steve holds his arms raised and wide shouting AAH HAA.
I read nothing about the story, but I have the impression that it takes place during the military-junta in Argentina, which was not-so-secretly supported and aided by the CIA and the US-government and led to the horrifying torture, killing and "forced disappearence" of several people, who were deemed "ideologically dangerous" or "oppositional" in the eyes of the right-wing-dictatorship. Many of them were young people and many families don't know until today where the remains of their loved ones are. Because they were tortured, then burned or brought with helicopters above the sea and then were thrown into the abyss (while many of them were still alive). The US-aided, completely anti-democratic and inhumane regime-changes in South America in the 60's and 70's are so horrifying and so incredibly sad. I don't know if you know the Argentinian film "The Secret in Their Eyes" from 2009, with the always-superb Ricardo Darín (and a stellar cast). It depicts a story from this part of Argentina's history. It's so incredibly sad and infuriating. In school we didn't learn about these regime-changes, but as I read about them later I was so schocked and depressed by all of this. (Another great film about this subject is "Missing" /1982/ from Konstantinos Costa-Gavras. Again an incredibly heartbreaking, moving film in documentary-style. Jack Lemmon and Sissy Spacek are very good in this film.)
Yes, he can do dramatic, tragic and very funny roles at the same time. My first introduction to him was in "24 Hour Party People" and "Tropic Thunder", two very different films.
First Jean Reno (My Penguin Friend), and now Steve Coogan, both in movies dealing with true stories based on two men in two different countries (Argentina and Brazil) rescuing oil-soaked penguins. Be still my heart...adorbs overload. Must see this. ❤☮🌎
Steve Coogan is one of the great creative minds of our age. If it wasn't for his self destructive tendencies there would be a much broader recognition of this fact.
a must see movie. made me cry. remembering me of my cat: enda. she followed me wherever i go and she knows my feelings. best regards to all cast and crew to this movie, from me in jakarta, indonesia. i am author.
As an argentinian i find this awesome, but not uplifting or funny at all 1:27 is very significant if you know what its happening. The latinamerican holocaust.
I'm seeing Steve Coogan tomorrow in the play "Dr Strange love" where he plays 4 different roles. Considering the rave reviews, I'll be very surprised if they've all just Alan Partridge.
@@gridlo It doesn't look much like a road trip film, though - most of it seems to happen in the university. And he takes the animal entirely voluntarily, so it's not like one of those 'Uptight guy has to cope with unruly animal' films such as Turner & Hooch or Beethoven. Seems more similar to Mr Popper's Penguins, if anything.
@andrewryan1500 you're right. It also appears that Coogan wears shirts that differ from Murray's. As well as differing pants. Plus if you look closely they each style their hair differently and their eye colors don't match. Well you've really turned me around on this thing.
Finally, something that doesnt involved killing or explosions or assassins.
I thought this movie had something to do with Gotham City.
I mean, I take your point about the surplus of "blow 'em up/shoot 'em up" films but it is Argentina in the 1970s-there will be killing.

Pretty sure the woman who got disappeared did non have a good time.
I've always loved Steve Coogan. So glad he's still working in the biz.

Ha ha, glad he's finally got something
I read the book years ago and I cried, then laughed than cried again. One of the best stories ever written.
First Jean Reno (My Penguin Friend), and now Steve Coogan, both in movies dealing with true stories based on two men in two different countries (Argentina and Brazil) rescuing oil-soaked penguins. Be still my heart...adorbs overload. Must see this. ❤☮🌎
Right? I'm not mad at this as film sub-genre.
Batman caped crusader reimagines the penguin and colin ferrels the penguin also came out this year, 2024 year of the penguins
Colin Farrell in an uncredited role here, he shrunk himself down too 😆
nice joke.
We need feelgood movies.
This looks like a perfect contender :)
I hope benedict cumberbatch narrates
Oh I wish more people got this comment...
Penglings!
The best comment 😅
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
What about Morgan Freeman?
I saw a test screening of this 10/10
You had me at Steve Coogan.
A few years ago, I listened to the audiobook narrated by Bill Nighy. It was sublime.
Steve Coogan is one of the great creative minds of our age. If it wasn't for his self destructive tendencies there would be a much broader recognition of this fact.
True Artist
“Self destructive tendencies” ? I thought his days with dabbling in sniffing the devils dandruff were behind him.
Oh look, someone who is 20 years out of touch with reality.
I can hear Werner Herzog talking about suicidal behaviour of penguins again.
a must see movie. made me cry. remembering me of my cat: enda. she followed me wherever i go and she knows my feelings.
best regards to all cast and crew to this movie, from me in jakarta, indonesia. i am author.
I thought this might have been the inspiring story of Benedict Cumberbatch learning to say “Penguin”
Good guess guys but i think youll find thats actually the former norfolk DJ alan partridge
north Norfolk
North Norfolk Digital.
You threw a penguin in the sea?
So beautifully Steve Cooganesque. (Digging that longer hair too)
Great to hear the Doobie Brothers finally getting the exposure they deserve, after years moldering in total obscurity.
ahhh, how uplifting, I must see this movie ❤❤❤
Just what is needed.
want to watch right now!
Finally a movie I can get behind!
Steve is a national treasure tbf.
0:02 "I Have Nothing To Declare Except My Genius"
This should be a book. Who would publish it ?
Cumberbatch turned up to the audition, and they laughed him out of the room...
Love Steve Coogan ❤
Waterway to have a good time
Looks like a really good movie👍
I wanna see this movie!
Lov it, of the best trailers I've seen this year
A bit dissapointed this is not about Penguin Books, but it seems like a charming film.
What's the song toward the end? Really pissing me off 😂
listen to the music - the doobie brothers
Jonathan Pryce back to Argentina.
Alan Partridge sure has a wide spectrum of roles up his sleeves I must say.
I assumed this was going to be a film about Batman's nemesis
This looks refreshing.
No penguins were harmed in the making of this movie.
Picks it up and hurls it into water
'Up with the Penguin' with Alan Partridge
My heart is in serious danger of feeling warm. PLEASE MAKE IT STOP! :D
Steve Coogan is a comedic genius actor, up there with Peter Sellers & Alec Guinness
Kim Nam Gil from South Korea!
another spectacular performance from Colin Farrel
As an argentinian i find this awesome, but not uplifting or funny at all 1:27 is very significant if you know what its happening. The latinamerican holocaust.
steve is alan partridge in everything, it's his only character - that's his range 👆
I'm seeing Steve Coogan tomorrow in the play "Dr Strange love" where he plays 4 different roles. Considering the rave reviews, I'll be very surprised if they've all just Alan Partridge.
@@vivienclogger enjoy the four alans 👍
@@dfm3-16 lols I'll let you know 😂
Please please have a happy ending
Argentina in the 70s? No one had a happy ending.
hence percy jackson
here's me thinking it was a spinoff of coogan's character in the penguiin...
Does anyone know what the
song is called at the end?
I heard Colin Farrel makes a caameo as the penguin.
Coogan for the win. Take my money,!
Looks great.
I love James Blunt
Yep I’ll have a slice of this.
The Parole Officer on 4K, please
Love it!!!
Should have got Benedict Cumberbatch involved...
This reminds me of an old bug bunny 🐰 cartoon where he try’s to help a penguin and gets so annoyed 😑
Another Penguin movie?
I'm Surprised you're the only one who said that. I just watched my penguin friend a few months ago. Bet these guys are upset that came out earlier.
Mr Patridge's Penguins
I'm sure I watched another recent trailer about a guy and a penguin?
This would have been a terrible name for a movie anyway, but coming out the same year as the tv show "The Penguin"... oh boy.
Alan Partridge has let himself go
Richard Gere at 1m39... IYKYK
am i the only one thinking mr popper's penguins?
I thought this was to do with the Penguin series and he was playing his character from the joker
We are really scraping the barrel now
Benedict Cumberbatch was turned down for this role for obvious reasons
It's how I impress women. Never fails
Well , the trailer is good
Lesson 1: Don't trust Penguin
looks like a nice fun movie. will probably make very little money sadly.
In Argentina there aren't palm trees at the beach. If this is Uruguay, there aren't palm trees at the beach either
Yes, I don’t think these people are the real ones either. I’m wondering if this is just a film.
@Philosoph-ali you could be onto something
Could the palm trees be migrating and were just passing by there at the time of the filming?
@@Surv1ve_Thrive Typical, all these palm trees coming over here taking all our sea fronts.
You threw a penguin in the sea? That’s awful!
He ett orl me fags, mon!!
it hit a couple of rocks on the way down
It's a model...
@@treluckey It's such a pointless death.
Alan Penguin
😍
The Peronguin
I really hope they haven't put all the best bits in the trailer, and the rest is rubbish.
I liked this movie better when it was about Bill Murray and an elephant
You mean you liked a completely different film with a different cast, animal, setting, time period and plot.
@andrewryan1500 within in the 'Loveable crank forced to road trip with an animal he comes to learn life lessons from' genre, yes.
@@gridlo It doesn't look much like a road trip film, though - most of it seems to happen in the university. @@gridlo Jaws has got a cranky guy and an animal in it, so they're both basically ripping off that.
"Witty and endlessly funny" Steve Coogan - pure proof that comedy is now dead !!!
In this day, I still don't understand why we think animals are here for our entertainment. 🤦🏻♀️🙁
I bet you’re a blast at parties.
Read the book...
christ this looks awful
Peng Wings
Looks great
