Not sure if I'm understanding the Helmod problem exactly, but I think it is scaling the entire sub-block by whatever is needed to meet the linked output. So for example, if the sub-block makes 1/s of something and it is linked needing 5/s, it will naively multiply the entire sub-block by 5, which can mean overproducing other products within that sub block. So to fix that issue, I think you just have to avoid grouping together multiple resource chains within the same sub-block unless their output is actually reliant upon one another. So for pY, you will end up needing to have a ton of recipes on the same page due to recipes having a large number of ingredients needed.
we fixed it later, you basically need to set the main product to be the larger production of the things you're making for "above blocks", and then you can "extra link the other items (which produce less)" with ctrl click on the output in the sub block. Because yes, its scaling them together, but only to meet the need of the "main item" that you set. But if you set the main item to the one that makes MORE, and then you can additionally link the lower ones, it works perfectly!
Additionally to the QOL comments that are mentioned, there are some Space Age-specific mechanics only available if you have the DLC (e.g. belt stacking, spoilage setting). (Note that these require an additional mod to work.)
