    Looks like a patch since this went up allows the pipe splitter to clip now and there's no need to do the different heights.

    Has anyone run into bugs with the alignment in the latest build? I copied this blueprint 1 for 1, but when I place it, the top conveyor belt is always misaligned and becomes more misaligned each time I place the blueprint. Everything else lines up perfectly, even the conveyor lifts, it's only the very top belt that seems to misalign itself meaning it can't connect up compactly.

I can't finish it because the combinators will rely on the 2.0 feature letting you compare the same signal on different colored wires.       You don't get the blueprint designer until you have steel. So... You will have Mk3 belts at least.

    I'm putting the finishing touches on a 3x4 (12) Foundry blueprint right now (Mk2 5x5). Used a 4m belt utility floor and tight lift positioning to match up with x2 Conveyor walls, without hard clipping. Giving me a "x2 input, x1 output" I/O setup, utilizing all but one conveyor wall hole. Unfortunately it involves a lot of tricky building, connecting, unbuilding, reconnecting, etc. to get all belts and lifts operational. This is exasperated by the basically impossible POV needed to clip lifts partially into splitters by mounting to hidden conveyor poles. My solution was to build the blueprint with an additional 4m crawlspace below the utility floor, then connect lifts from below, but then I realized you can't drop blueprints down lower, even if you eliminate all items below the utility floor. So now I've got a blueprint hovering 5m above the factory floor! It's been a lot of effort, but I may end up having to scrap the whole project and mounting above via floating splitters like you have. I'm not a big fan of the look, and prefer to have the belts line up with wall I/O, but I'm out of other options apparently.

    wouldn't it be easier to use the lifts first, then attach the splitters which will automatically attach, and then construct the belts? That would make it easier as you wouldn't have to align everything...

      It's a also a pain to connect the small belt segments between the splitters/mergers, but more importantly, building the belt first ensures no subtle mistakes with the height of the lifts and ensures the blueprint can be tiled correctly. Try both ways and see which works better for you. I prefer the video's method because I make fewer mistakes personally when using belt first construction.

    44:00 Speaking of the tutorial, i wonder if for 2.0 they have finally updated them because i remember them having been very outdated / not taking in to account for the changes happening since a mechanic or gameplay element had been introduced because technically that still works and most people dont do the tutorial anyways. Since kovarex said there wont be any major updates only bug fixes and minor additions now would be a good time to get them updated since things are guaranteed to not change enough anymore to need to update the tutorial later.

      There was a LAN with game developrs and content creators, I think anyone that participated there got a copy for at home later on and some NDA agreements that just lifted. The LAN was invite only though.

      @@ShugGmail technically your not wrong, however also some people who didnt attend the LAN also got early access. Getting invited and getting early access where both tied to the same conditions to be considered but you didnt actually need to attend to get the access. As far as i understand they where just given keys for testing purposes that went active arround the same time they would have been able to use them if they had attended the LAN. I dont remember names but a few people who where invited didnt attend but they still have there early access.

    quick question, if only organic stuff can spoil, wouldn't it made the most sense to setup the whole science factory and labs on the planet that produces the spoiling science packs? i mean, from what little i remember about the FFF of that planet and spoilage in general, if those science packs can spoil, you would want to put them into the labs as fresh as possible, right?

      Well now you can only build the bio labs on nauvis. So that will be where pretty much all science builds end up.

    If you don't mind putting in the effort, you can get blade runners and a xeno basher in the lizzard doggo cave practically at the start of the game without having to do any research! Plus you can get a cool new helmet and spare xeno zapper while you are there! Not to mention all the other random loot scattered around the nests :P

    26:11 "Then Steam doesn't get a cut", ohh yeah, because it's unfair that someone offering a service like file hosting, patch deployment, storefront, payment handling and so on get NOTHING. Not trying to protect the size of the cut, but I am getting tired of people actively pushing people to avoid having Steam/Valve get compensated for a service they offer that a majority enjoy.

      I don't think steam is losing here - since every game key can be redeemed on steam, I think Wube ends up paying steam the difference for every key that gets redeemed. granted that should (and probably is) less than the usual (20% ?) due to steam not doing the exclusive publishing/promoting, workshop, forums (are smaller as Wube provides those on their own website (a VERY smart decision in my book, because then you can publish on other platforms as well) and purchase handling (including the PCI commissions - not something to discard as insignificant...), but I'm convinced they do get compensated, or they wouldn't have any incentive to include Factorio in their extensive library of games,

    Good video, but the input manifold on each quad is going to kill your efficiency early game compared to using two separate splitters and tracks. Should be a fairly simple change, but would love to see your take on using a direct split on the quad in addition to using on clusters of 8

      Not really. You pay for the buffer once which is often a few minutes of production of your input.

    Really enjoying these videos. Much rather this approach (vs downloading BP) where you talk through your design logic and show how to build the blueprint. Every design you have shown I have adopted as it's far better than what I was doing. Seperately, the conveyor lifts not snapping was driving me crazy until you showed how to easily make them snap to splitters and mergers.

    Love watching people build their bases in the early stages, some quite unique problem solving that really shows that not everyone approaches the problems the same way. I'm quite rusty at the game coming back after some months, so my methods consists on copious amounts of pasta for now lol

    I know you have stopped the series, and this is probably nitpicking but the lathe is not true doubling....as in Calculus, the closer you get to infinity ingots, the limit does go to two rods per ingot. But start with 1 ingot, you get 1 plus 1/2 ingot back, 2 ingots you end up with 3 rods plus 1/2 ingot, 4 ingots = 7 rods plus 1/2 ingot, so you always end up 1 rod short of true doubling with 1/2 ingot of dust left. With 1000's of ingots being turned into rods, you can effectively say it is doubling though......great series from what I have watched.

    in response to the extra tiers of buildings in mods and quality for those buildings in the expansion, I think the assembly machine in base game could use a rework at this point, its the only building in the game essentially at this point that is actually tiered. if it was reduced down to 1 building it wouldn't really change anything to the game and quality can be used to increase its speed which is essentially the only thing that the current tieres do for it.

      I disagree, the tiers are a way for you to make a MUCH larger impact in speed than quality makes, plus they have different numbers of module slots, which allows for more productivity in higher tiers and not lower tiers. I do think they could probably go down to two tiers if they really wanted to, but not one.
