@@jamesgreenldn I don't know, he's not telling the whole truth. apparently he was really messed up on drugs and drink during his time with the Banshees. he had a sort of breakdown when it came time to tour Hyaena and he dropped out. I can see why she'd be upset.
What a little puppy he was in this interview. I was lucky enough to have the great pleasure of The Cure experience in Austin during the tour referenced in this interview. I think this happened in the early 1980s. (The ‘80s are a bit fuzzy for me if you know what I mean!)
Never got why he felt the need to talk so cutesy wootsey and precious, and flap his arms around like a toddler. He started out the 80s as the 'angry young man' and ended it as a giggling school girl not long after this video. Saw them in 85 or 86 right after 'the haircut' .
They really don't, though. It's kind of like having a lot of foods with garlic, and saying "oh, they all taste the same." Well, in the sense that they all have garlic in them, sure. But they're different foods. So, in one sense (the sense that all Cure music is done by The Cure), the music sounds the same. It all has that "Cure" sound. But in another, the songs are different.
It's not so much like different foods with garlic, it's more like a watery wishy washy soup of potatoes and lentils, and that someone has bothered to rearrange some of the lentils into different positions in the soup pot == a different song :/
you wouldn't blame iron maiden or metallica for having the same sound in most songs, so why blame the cure. i think its nice that they stick to the sound what feels the most like them. i hate bands that change their style every album. actually i think that their songs have a lot of variation.
"I missed singing. And Siouxsie never let me sing because she knew I was too threatening."
She knew Robert would overshadow her and he did
@@jamesgreenldn In looks as well as his fabulous voice

ROBERT , I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE YOUR HAIR !!!! :-)
When MTV was MTV......
Honestly I didn’t grow up when mtv was still mtv but now it’s just trash and I wish I could have experienced everything that is gone now😭
who is the six years old girl who presents this ? sorry ahah
@@SavBear-025 MTV is puke
Jersey shore
Mafia family snitches
Floribama shore
Teen mom
16 & Pregnant (which I dispise)
And all this bull shit
Martha Quinn was always flawless. She was so amazing! So good, and then after MTV she seemed to disappear?? What a talent.
Him and Fun Boy Three era Terry Hall tend to remind me of each other at times.
thank you, Robert, with really love to what you create

that lady was soooo cute! 1986 is the year of my birth!
It was the year I graduated from high school.
This was the year I saw The Cure in Houston!

"The thinking mans Duran Duran?" I hope Martha Quinn didn't come with that stupid line.

As the members of Metallica said: "We're all about the music, not the length of our hair!"
metalica es una mierda de musica.

Probably because the early 80's nearly killed
He cut his hair? * i thought he had the same hair since 79
I saw them in summer of 1986 and was so shocked when he came on stage and had cut his hair off!
I like Duran Duran, but they’re nowhere near as worthy to be in the same sentence as the Cure.
Whatever happened to cutie-pie Martha Quinn???
Before Katie Perry, there was Robert Smith.
lmao how do you compare the two
@@vampdivision6910 You can't. OP is bonkers to even put those two in the same sentence.
He did not age gracefully
pinkeye00 who does?
pinkeye00 .......stupid comment 😠😠😠😠
bro he’s 59 what did u expect?
he's 61, give him a break
everyone ages and I think it's stupid that in our society we make fun of people for natural aging
The problem with the Cure is all their songs sound the same. Might as well join them all together in as one stream of indistinct noise.
