I wish I had such a piano teacher long ago, this subtlety and nuance is what this piece requires, and it is so lacking in most instruction. As much as notes and timing, is the passion and 'voice' in the phrasing, as the composers intended. The songs, with masters of this era, were telling a musical story in the compositions, Horowitz exemplified this in his performances.
Thank you Shirley. I try to figure it out slowly, but I don't know if it's not been too fast when I have been playing the piano for two years. Thank you for valuable tips :)
she is the lady I know of in the US back in the 80's and 90's... nowadays, I meet people in the US and their speaking is like "WTF", or "it is what it is", "if he is late, he is late", "it is your problem, not mine", "you talked to the manager and had an agreement? But he left and you said we can ask him to see if it is true but we are not going to do that. It is water under the bridge (and thinking 'and you can sue us if you want to, but I doubt if you have the money to do that')"
Shirley Kirsten I was using a version similar to this version: imslp.eu/files/imglnks/euimg/2/29/IMSLP102307-PMLP02374-Chopin_Werke_Paderewski_09_Walzer_239_09-10_Op_69_filter.pdf
So my edition has a C natural and not a C# .. The C natural would support the NEAPOLITAN harmony.. in a broken chord pattern.. You can check if Rubinstein plays with the C natural.. or the C#...
Suuuuuch a grrrreat point about dragging the notes and not being so pokey with them!!! Such valuable advice Shirley!!! ♡♡ your videos!!!

Are you sure you are playing the right notes on the phrase at 1:40?
As far as my score reads, yes, the right notes. What does your score indicate?

Shirley Kirsten the progression in that is B-C#-D-E. your instructional videos are very helpful! I love them.

There are different editions of this Waltz incidentally..
Troppo rubato, Chopin non lo richiede...
Stavo pensando la stessa cosa. Poi va a finire che il brano perde di stabilità
