I'm only two minutes in and I must this is an amazing tutorial. A neapolitan chord! Imagine that!

Wonderful tutorial, thank you Shirley. I was never interested in music theory but that changed six months ago while learning to play a sonate by Beethoven.......understanding what he does made me an instant admirer of his musical genius. Now I would love to be able to play this Chopin walz.

Wow! You are great. You go way beyond technique and notes and give soul to your lessons. I wish I was your student. Thank you very much Shirley!

Thank you so much Shirley for the beautiful tutorials ❤️ I found you while learning this piece from Chopin, and absolutely loved your teaching (have been watching your videos many many times while learning to play)
Did you ever make a Part 2 for this? I finished the first page with you and now would really love to continue to learn the rest of this from you too.

Wonderful to have the ‘spiritual’ interpretative alongside the technical analysis and instruction. Lovely piece!

@@ShirleyKirsten Hello teacher extraordinaire! This was my recital piece. you've added so much more to my playing.
Have no knowledge of dominant chords etc. But I've been told I play beautifully. I'm like a vagabond player. I
Can Play Bach, Satie a couple of Beethovans works. but KNOWLEDGE of theory is sorely lacking, sad to say.

Good morning!! I was wondering if you could provide a tutorial video, on Mozarts Lacrimosa, which I'm currently working on. I'll watch for it. I'm sure you already have a schedule on order. Thank you!! Trish

    Hi Shirley.
    Great advice on this waltz.
How would suggest pedalling this one? Your music looks as if the pedal is off at the third beat.

It's hard to standardize pedaling in these waltzes as one may use a flutter pedal here and there where there are passing non-harmonic tones. And varying arm weight infuses as well as the pedal is responding to a contoured melodic line. Attentive listening is the best route to clear pedaling.
