      He s not a beginner. He has very likely studied the basic of piano in the conservatory since his main instrument is the violin. He can not play it perfectly because probably that's a first sight and because that's an advanced piano piece. I think that just his ability to look at the sheet , being able to read it and press the key proves that he is not a real beginner. I guess He is very likely able to play a piece from basic level to intermediate

    • @daniellu4692
      @daniellu4692 4 года назад +78

      ab cd it depends what you call a 'beginner.' Beginner doesn't necessarily mean no music experience. I'm not sure how much piano he's studied in the past, but hypothetically, if someone studied for maybe half to a full year, I'd still consider them beginner. The pieces played are indeed advanced. Also keep in mind eddy is a violinist so ofc he can read music. But it's all for entertainment so it doesn't really matter.

      But that's what all of these are. The professionals have seen all of this music before, as they are all extremely famous in their respective instrument realm.
      People who have played any instrument long enough can easily recognize all of the pieces in the professional vs. beginner videos. For example, as a flutist, I easily recognized all of the pieces in their flute video -- they are all essential to learn for competition/performance.
      So then all of these videos should be renamed professional playing from memory vs. a beginner sightreading...

    The most impressive thing about Sophie here is that in the Grieg, she turns the pages for Eddie even though what he’s playing has nothing to do with what’s on the page. She’s a great pianist and violinist, and she can read minds too.

      Eddy was also trying to play badly on top of that. He mightn't be a professional pianist, but he's definitely not a beginner and was deliberately worsening his posture and the position of his hands as well as playing worse than he's capable of (and by that I mean deliberately not trying to do exactly what was written all of the time in order to keep up with the tempo) on purpose.

    • @pavelbrzezinski2482
      @pavelbrzezinski2482 5 лет назад +20

      @@palmtree1958Eh, i dont think he's playing bad on purpose. The pieces are really hard and he's sight reading at the speed the pro is playing at. Even experienced musicians would have a hard time doing that.

    • @palmtree1958
      @palmtree1958 5 лет назад +11

      @@pavelbrzezinski2482 I understand that it's very difficult, and I've clarified what I mean by deliberately playing badly. He sacrificed notes for the tempo to make a comparison of two attempts of the piece at as similar of a speed as he could. Hypothetically, if he was to sacrifice the tempo instead of the notes he couldn't reach in time without deliberately allowing himself to play wrong notes all over the place (and playing it off for comedy, as that's exactly what this video's supposed to be- entertaining), it would've been a lot closer to what's written.
