It was kind of amusing at the amount of clag given off by the Western.

the hard hats are a bit over the top but the high vis were an aid to the driver as an x driver i might point out that some persons on or near the line at the time a driver sees him or her was a good chance to warn and give time to get to a place of safety more so when the train is travelling 100mph plus. i speak from a near miss with a small girl on the line in steam days not funny!

What an excellent video, my old dad Keith who worked there with Mike and Phil sure could do with some catching up with the old team as he's not been too well these last few years and doesn't get about as much now.

I watched the first 10 minutes of this programme, and I remember thinking it was going to be good. Then it sort of lost its way, and was jumping all over the place. It was nice to meet some of the staff, but you could have featured someone from each department explaining their jobs. Why two guards, nice though they were? What was the young lady doing on the footplate? There was a golden opportunity for the driver to explain the workings of the loco, but he was asked merely how many engines the railway had, and then he quoted numbers that only a rail buff would understand. I'm not sure who your target audience is- the public at large and tourists, rail enthusiasts, or just the people on the railway itself? I think any one of those groups would come away disappointed. 60 minutes is enough time to tell a really cracking story, and I've no doubt you got some very good material,
but the direction and editing has let it down. Sorry, but that's how I feel.

Looks like there has been some hard work going on here.
I feeling is High-vis clothing is not a replacement for observation and common sense
but should be seen as an aid to safety. Something that did make me smile is a notice on the side of the foot bridge at Sheffield telling passengers how to use the bridge safely. Announcements at Derby tell passengers not to run!

They have to decide if they want to run to Wareham, or let SWT run a shuttle from Wareham. If they want to run to Wareham then they would have to fit their stock with the same safety equipment as main line trains, and have secondary door locking and become a licensed TOC to run on the main line. It would probably easier for the Swanage railway to lease some stock to SWT and let SWT run from Wareham as a shuttle. SWT isn't exactly flush with DMUs

Will regular train services ever resume between Swanage and Wareham? As someone who lived in Swanage for ten years or so, who has some first hand knowledge of the goings on of the railway, I would say no. Because such a thing would get in the way of those who just want to play trains! I would love to be proved wrong about that though! Excellent video by the way!
