I'm pleased you enjoyed them & your kind comment is much appreciated. As for the 8F..... well you know what I think!! You may also be able to relax with this one if not already viewed ruclips.net/video/vAJbbGBE09s/видео.html Cheers, Brian.
Some great scenes from the footplate, Brian. Enjoyed the coverage. Hopefully, the weathered guise option, is not a one off, and they look to do it again. Iv'e got a footplate ride coming up next week on the Churnet Valley & Cauldron Lowe Line, which should be good. Might even do a video myself. Regards, Liam
Thanks Liam, glad you enjoyed the 'alternative' action and it was nice for me not to be standing around in the cold...!! Yes, the albeit temporary but authentic guise was certainly appreciated by many & 'teleported' me back to those heady 60's days lol. Have a great day next week & sure we will see some footage.... I hope!... Brian.
Many thanks for your kind comment & yes, a steam loco is not the best environment for filming & the editing can be time consuming but very much worth the effort. I trust you will check out my other footplate vids at the GCR and enjoy them equally...... Cheers, Brian.
Cheers, was it you featured at the end doing the 'touch up' ?? You did a great job & I think it has been well received by those who only ever saw them like that, very nostalgic so well done! Brian.
Official Midlands Railway Channel Yes Michael, Pete H has explained, sorry i was not aware at the time we spoke but will know you next time, I hear you got 'rewarded' today for all your efforts .... great stuff!! Do you get to wash it off as well... lol.... Cheers, Brian.
Enjoyed the ride Brian, this obviously was a great day out for you on the footplate, did you sign the road after your experience, I didn't see you pick the shovel up, ha ha, thanks for sharing, cheers...Bill
84asrd84boxy Bit of nostalgia for you Bill (even if not a coppertop!!) & glad you enjoyed it. Yes a good day & could sign it & could have happily fired it but too busy (& not qualified these days ha ha) with camera...... Cheers, Brian.
Stephen Millington Many thanks Stephen, glad you enjoyed it & it brought back those happy memories. Know what you mean, used to fire em, lol. As you may know, the loco is now re-painted in black rather than the weathering coat she was wearing in the video. cheers, Brian.
Wow! what a video, who was a lucky boy then! God that takes me back to my Ashwell days when the drivers let me loose on the loco's,great days, mainly 8f's but a lot of 9's as well.I know it won't make any difference but KEEP IT BLACK.Regards Chris.
I gather you enjoyed it then Chris & glad it rekindled a few of your BR memories too. Sadly for many of us it will be back looking like a 'working class princess' quite soon but it certainly looked good over weekend & Michael did a good job of hiding the crimson streaks that kept appearing!!, cheers, Brian.
I'm glad you enjoyed the video & thanks for your comment...... I know you only intend to be constructive but the title is actually me being ironic. I know it's only known as an 8F (I fired a good many of them) but at the time it was painted in RED and as seen in the video it was only operating in a coat of water based BLACK so for the purpose of this gala weekend it was a Black rather than Red 8F...... Title now changed to avoid further confusion.... Brian.
It's an Ivatt class 2 mixed traffic 2-6-0 loco, if you would like to see more of it including on the footplate here is the link to my now four year old video.... enjoy!! ruclips.net/video/vAJbbGBE09s/видео.html
Great atmosphere and filming.
Both Videos just watched and frankly, they're great. Very "Relaxed" viewing. -and the Eight looked perfect..................

Wonderful locomotive. Great video. You have put a lot of work into this, thank you.

Great video, I was the one who painted the 8F!

How did you paint it like that? What paint did you use?
Great paint job, you wouldn't believe the 8f was red.
Indeed Antony and it required a lot of 'touching up' over the weekend to hide the fact although it's now permanant glossy black!! Brian.
Great video Brian, you certainly had a great day on the GCR,
Thanks Mike, appreciated. Yes, I did enjoy myself (as usual) & sorry you were unable to cover this event ..... Brian.
Yes. Looks great in late-BR grime. Thanks
Indeed Stephen, only genuine 8F livery lol.
Some rust and priming salts on the smokebox please!
Great video, watched with a glass of milk this morning. I hope they change the loco back to red. Matt
Good Lad Matt, glad you enjoyed it & yes it will soon be red again as that stuff just washes off as well as covers your hands lol.... Brian.
Really good video enjoyed it very much you cant beat the pure power of steam
Thanks a lot, glad you enjoyed it. There are more GCR footplate videos on my channel if you haven't found them yet.

SYKAROST
Cheers and thank you, really enjoyed it takes me back 50+ years when I used to spot 8Fs going through Royston and in and out of the shed there (55D).

Brilliant........love it!
Cheers Peter, hope you take a look at all the other GCR Footplate Vids on my channel... Brian.
Most enjoyable.
Great video. One thing I would like to point out though, in the title it says "Black 8" it's not called a black 8 it's actually an 8F.
I'm glad you enjoyed the video & thanks for your comment...... I know you only intend to be constructive but the title is actually me being ironic. Pure Magic!
Only two words but very satisfying to know my work is so appreciated..... Thankyou.
Was the 8F meant to be dirty to relive the days when freight engines were meant to be dirty
It was indeed. A water based coating that just washes off and had to be touched up each evening where patches had washed off during the day's showers.
why is it in bad condition?
What is that nice looking engine at 9:13 called?
