Hi Andrew Cutts Thanks for your comment. Swanage was my holiday destination for many years. Also my farther camped with the boy scouts at Langton. Thanks.
I saw this village on “Mary Queen of shops” where she was trying to fix up the general store. Village looked so gorgeous and I’ve wanted to go there ever since. I live in Australia though.
Hi Sally Parker. Pleased you enjoyed the video. We went in the general store on the day of filming for a cup of coffee and cake. We also saw the same program. Perhaps you will make it there one day. All the best in Australia.
Thanks for the video. I worked in Swanage for 6 years but didn't live there. Compared to many seaside towns in England, it's held up quite well but from what I heard, it can be difficult to live there if you're an outsider.
Swanage and Corfe have changed only ever so slowly over the many years my family and I visited it. I can even remember in Swange the Tilly Whim pub and its eccentric owner plus his collection of animals including a Camel. Place was compulsorily taken over and demolished. I went down the "Caves" stone workings when they were still open. Families all grown up and we havent been for been for several years, but will do again. Great memories and for anyone who hasnt been there? GO! You will love it!
Hi Thanks tecdessus, Glad the video brought back so many memories. I to have been going to Swanage since I was young boyand still return at least once a year.
Visted Swanage back in June of last yr(2018)& fell in luv with the area ❤ Looks like there is more of the castle left standing(in this vid)than when i went but on the + side there was a falconry display going on when i went up on the steam train & they were swooping above our heads as we sat on the hill. Great fun to watch. I recommend a vist to Old Harry Rocks as the view from up there of Swanage & Studland bays are breathtaking.
Hi andrew sanders Pleased you had good memories of Swanage. We used to say the same thing about the castle, that there seemed to be less of it every time we went.
How fun for this Utah yank to walk again on these pathways electronically. Cromwell still gets my goat when I see what carnage his gunpowder brought to this beautiful castle.
Hi The Country Traveller. Thanks very much for your comment. Pleased you enjoyed the video. Hope to get out some time and do some more. Thanks for subscribing.
Hi Pablo. Pleased you enjoyed the video. The black, circular object handed to the crew of the engine , is called a token or key. A Driver has to have this to be able to proceed into the next single line section. this is to ensure that there are not any other traffic in that section.
What a beautiful video Basher! thank you so much for putting so much TLC into this.. great viewing and I really look forward to seeing more of what you have created. It would have been even more beautiful if you had filmed the inside of the steam train and the costs of going in there as well as the beautiful side cafes there

Beautiful video. Would you know what is that black, circular plastic the platform operator exchanges with every passing train driver?
