Hope everyone enjoys this short and simple video. Each of these UK Weekend Break videos will have a slightly different style, vibe, and be with different people (although the next one in Cornwall is with my mum too). Plus this video was the last one I shot with my old camera and mic (was filmed before the Surrey video). Cornwall video onwards will all be 4K - and a more wind resistant microphone ;) Got some big tour announcements coming up in the next few weeks, will be hosting 5 different tours around the world from Oct '21 - Sep '22, so keep your eyes pealed for that info. And I'm starting to solidfy my summer European trip plans now :) Anyway, hopefully Cornwall video will be ready for next weekend! :)
Loving this series, bro. The English countryside is one of the most beautiful areas on the whole planet. Always wanted to buy a little country home or cottage in Dorset, Devon or Cornwall. Hell, any place west of London would be nice, just outside of the big cities.
Wow! Such beautiful countryside! It was so relaxing to watch this fine Sunday. You've got a lovely Mum! For me it's always heartwarming to see a Mom and son out together. I've got two of my own. She's a wonderful addition! 💕🙏🇺🇸
we go camping in langton matravers every year, have for the last 13 years and i love that youre showing how beautiful purbeck and the jurassic coast are
@@karlwatsondocs oy...i just realized, i've been to dorset, weymouth actually...that durdle door and lulworth cove, i've been there ...thanks for the memories :D
Hello my friend Dorset is such a lovely place to be . we live here and we are so lucky to have so much Beauty to go and see. It has been a while since we have visited. We really must go back and visit . thanks for sharing Stay safe Love and Light Sarah and Glenn
Well done,Your mum can sure walk fast, Think i would be breathless keeping up, Nice t see yo can have time with mum and to see here well, I love Dorset but it is nice to see it from another perspective. Thanks for taking us along.
Would love to see more of not just England, but more of Europe through your documentaries. Absolutely love these short-form docs that you are doing as weekend breaks. Certainly adding new dimensions to your storytelling style.
Loved the video! Especially loved seeing Barbara and the rest of your family! I’ve seen so many photos of your mum’s walks over the past several years so it was fantastic to see this informative beautiful video!
The Waterloo to Weymouth line passes through Southampton, if you get off at Wareham you are only 2 or 3 miles from Corfe, if you get off at Wool you are close to Lulworth and Durdle Door. I think the steam train featured runs between Wareham and Swanage via Corfe.
Went here for the first time in May and I was left wondering why I had never been before! beautiful part of our country and well filmed as always Karl.
I just got back from Dorset but stayed at Bridport to have a fossil hunting experience with my son at Lyme Regis/Charmouth beach. As you said there are great hiking trails.
I remember Corfe Castle from my when I was younger my grandparents lived in Broadstone we used to go out to Corfe Castle all the time and stop at a country pub on the way that had all sorts of bar games very pretty views round there
Great video Karl :) Really informative. This new series of videos is inspiring me to explore what is on my doorstop in the UK. Can't wait for the Cornwall video.
Epic views so amazing! Your mum did a great job at directing the walk 😉😉😉..💙💙👏👏thanks for taking us to Dorset a Great English gem!! 🙏🙏the castle is so cool!!
Nice one Karl..been waiting for you to do a vlog..anything really! Stuck here in dubai not been able to go anywhere without having to be stuck in a hotel for a week. Lots of great places to see in Uk. You were lucky to get decent weather..absolutely love your videos👌
What a beautiful place. Some of my best memories are hiking with my mom so enjoy! I love the cherry blossoms. It's a magical experience when they fall like pink snow. I got to experience it in New York City. Why would they blow up the 11th century castle? That's sad. The rock quarry was fascinating but nothing surpasses the beauty of the turquoise sea. Lol about your mom and the 20 year-olds:-) I climbed all the way to the top of Mt. Whitney with my parents when I was about 13. We passed some super husky/athletic type women. (They looked like mountain women) They were wearing heavy duty mountain boots. They scoffed at me and said I'd never make it. They said they tried 3X's and could never make it to the top. I was petite wearing light weight sneakers that probably weren't even suitable for climbing, but guess who made it all the way to the top? 14,000 feet? Me! Lol Your mom's story made me think of it:-)
Great to see a different part of the world. No wonder why there are so many British landscape photographers! Ever consider doing a travel guide for London?
May do something round London at some point but there’s sooo much content out there about London, hard to have a fresh angle, and you don’t have the same wide eyed enthusiasm for where you live than a foreigner visiting it
Them stairs seemed huge😱so cool, can’t wait for the Cornwall episode. Was meant to shoot Astro many times at Corte Castle but could never make it, still on my wish list.Btw I think it’s really awesome you get to hike with your mum, my mum is a bit too old and struggles with hiking so we can only go on hills with chair lifts, funiculars etc but I hope this summer I’ll also be able to make a video with my mum and my kids from a short trip somewhere in the mountains 😀
Great videos but you need to brush up on your pub guide skills, you missed 3 of the 4 pubs in Corfe😉 Worth Matravers to Swanage via Winspit and then along the coast path is a good walk and as I live in Bournemouth that means I don't have to drive and can enjoy a few pubs along the way. Karl.. With all knowledge from your trips.. can you recommend a good packable rain jacket? :) You must have a ton of experience of different clothes and gear.. maybe a video about that?
Corfe Castle is built in Purbeck Limestone from the area (the Isle of Purbeck), which has been quarried for over 2000 years. This is why all of the villages and towns across this area are built of Purbeck limestone. The interior of Corfe Castle was decorated in Purbeck Marble, which has been used in many of the Great Medieval Cathedrals across the Southern half of England for centuries.
I think Mexico has been slightly oversaturated for content since EVERYONE has gone there in the last 12 months ;) Don't worry I'll be going abroad very soon :)

Nice cinematography 👍🏻
Great stuff! Dorset looks great, might have to get down there myself at some point this summer.
Hopefully it won’t be too crowded for you 👍
Colour quality looks pretty sharp for an old camera, looked so much better in Dorset in April than it did in Bournemouth and Poole this weekend!
Cheers Emma. Yeah weathers been a bit shit the last few days
The UK is seriously underrated! What are your travel plans for post-covid?
Good loooooads of plans but don’t wanna announce it incase I jinx it right now 😉
Great video Karl!
Thanks 😊
Nice vid Karl! The Minehead or rather, Porlock to Lynmouth coastal walk is really good if you make it to Somerset :) Plus the cider is pure
Cheers for the tips
I was half expecting you to say "Of Corfe it is!" at some point.
Opportunity wasted 🙈

Any train or bus route from Brighton which will take less time to reach? I am fine to spend a night in any nearby hotel, as I am a solo traveller 😊
Can you get to Corfe Castle by the train? or a bus?
