- Watch in 1080p. Steel, Steam and Stars is a major steam festival organised by the 'Betton Grange' Society to raise funds for that locomotive. Congratulations to the team for organizing such an superb event; running for over a week, it included an incredible line-up of visiting locos. It was a nice touch to see the Ffestiniog and Tal-y-Llyn railways getting involved too. We only managed a very rushed day trip, but we could have spent several days there. Please support the Llangollen Railway and the Betton Grange project. Filmed on 2 x Panasonic SD900 camcorders, one with Rode NTG-2 microphone
I had thr lovely pleasure of taking a trip on this railway back in May on a diesel hauled train what a beautiful trip that was.
Thanks Steve. It's a wonderful place which I knew intimately as a small boy - I walked the trackbed many times, often fighting my way through the undergrowth. Now it is the realm of Britannia and Tornado - amazing!
Some of the shots are the best I have seen on this line.
Like? I loved all of it - it is certainly not too long for me. A terrific record of a sensational event. Having two camcorders at work really helps and the image quality from the SD900s at 1080p is excellent, especially when the light is brighter. I think this event really captured the feel of BR in the 1950s. OK, a tender-first A1 Pacific might not be quite authentic BR but the Super D running tender-first was spot on. I remember seeing a fair number doing just that. Many thanks!
I congratulate you on an excellent film, lovely shots,and beautiful locations.
Thank you for sharing.
Thank you, Ernest, for your kind comment. We are glad that you enjoyed it! Dave
Many thanks, Glen. Cheers, Dave
Love the opening shot of all the features
An excellent video I enjoyed every sequence.
Thanks Colin - with hindsight I had thought that maybe I should have chopped some of it out - but if you enjoyed it, I am glad that I didn't! Cheers, Dave
Congratulations on some lovely footage, especially of the Super D, which I never got to see unpiloted in all nine days. She was hardly ever alone, and I kept missing her. :-(
May I echo your plea to support the Betton Grange Society; the gala did not break even until Friday, and Sunday was a washout. All contributions most gratefully accepted
Another outstanding video! Well done yet again, very enjoyable to watch.

Strange! It plays ok on mine - it is probably the way Sony Vegas software combines stereo and 5.1 - have had problems with this before. Thanks for letting me know... Dave
@25:04 think that's faster than 25😁
