We know from how Hermione was about Divination that she's a very logical and practical person who would always find a reasonable explanation instead of a mystical one. For example when Lavender's bunny died in Prisoner of Azkaban. That was when she believed in magic but didn't really believe in Divination, before her Hogwarts letter she wouldn't have really believed in magic either. When she was a kid, she and her parents were probably also people who would find a rational explanation for any unexplained magical signs Hermione showed. Hermione could have regularly had magical powers and still have explained it away somehow so they would still be surprised to find out she was a witch. Even though Hermione is intelligent, I don't think knowing all along fits her personality
How did she get to the Diagon Alley? Did the acceptance letter have the location and the code? And how did she pay for books and supplies? Did muggle money, which her parents must have had enough, work in Diagon Alley and later in wizarding shops/taverns?
a saw a headcannon that hermione read matilda at a young age, she saw a smart, bright, brave little girl with frizzy hair and immediately connected with her in every way. then its revealed that matilda is magical, and she knocks a glass off of a table. hermione tries the same thing and succeeds. its a cute fan thing, but it also fits as her first use of magic, and learning that shes different
Don’t feel sad! You just experienced the best thing ever and may feel like the magic will wear off. That’s how I felt. Then, one day I slowly realized I couldn’t remember little things. Did lavender brown die? What did olive r wood do after graduating? And then you reread and suddenly it’s a whole new magical experience yet again. It’s different and amazing every time. :)
One thing that you see Hermione doing on the train on the way to Hogworts is she uses her wand and a spell to fix a crack on one of Harry’s glasses. Now, it is immediately before going to Kings Cross Train Station that Harry visits Olivander’s to purchase a wand (along with other materials for school). So, I have to wonder if Hermione was doing magic without a wand and just learned wand-work on the train-or if her parents took her to Diagon Alley to purchase what she needed well prior to her trip to Kings Cross.
It would’ve been great to include some form of tying between Hermione‘s portrayal in the series and the portrayal of Lily. People that taught both of them say that Hermione reminded them of Lily. That is probably one of the underlying reasons why Severus Snape is as adverse to her as he is to Harry.
That doesn't apply to students before they attend Hogwarts. At the end of the first book is when they learn that they are not allowed to perform magic outside of the school. Before that it's the responsibility of the parents to monitor magic use. As long as Hermione didn't do anything that would have exposed magic to an unknowing muggle, such as blowing up her aunt, then she was home free to practice at her leisure
One of the times Hermione was being not-so-smart: Hermione: A fire? How? There’s no wood!! Ron: HAVE YOU GONE MAD???!!!!!! ARE YOU A WITCH OR NOT???!!!! Note: This was in the Philosophers/Sorcerer’s Stone and only in the book.
Yeah in the movie Hermione seems to know everything even though she is muggle-born but in the books she doesn't know some of the things she does in the movie.
well can't blame her, we can't think straight when are friends are strangled by a devil's snare and she was like 13. Well, in the books she is not that clever but its emma and I don't care if she got some 'extra' glory.
It wasn't lack of intelligence it was unfimilarity with being able to have fire without wood she asked what she didn't know then later did i believe bluebell flames
I just realised, the first time hermione was legally allowed to use magic was on the hogwarts express. This means the first time she used a spell was on the hogwarts express so she produced a spell without practice or teaching, just books.
I have always thought that she knew she was different and may have struggled with this difference because in the Muggle world, she would have been an oddity. Being as logical as she is, she would have tried to figure out a logical reason for why she could do the things that she could do and would have been a little afraid that she was mentally ill or insane because "magic" didn't exist in her world. I've always thought that the reason she and Ron made a good pair is that even though she was clever, I think she may have had a part of her that suffered from impostor's syndrome and insecurity. Something Ron would understand and empathize with.
It's also quite possible that Hermione really didn't know until her letter, but of course once she knew she would immediately start studying. She is intelligent but isn't the most open minded, especially to a fantastic explanation. Xeno Lovegood called her out on that and I think that is the main reason she wasn't sorted into Ravenclaw. She did some serious mental gymnastics to avoid believing the Hallows were meaningful.
She also was very brave and she even say she valued bravery more then books in the end. So just because you are book smart and intelligent do not mean you can not be a Gryffindor. She was a Gryffindor but an intelligent one.
Aren't muggle born witches and wizards visited by a Hogwarts teacher so that it can be explained properly? I can't imagine only receiving a Hogwarts letter would be enough for most muggles. I'm sure I read that somewhere. I know Harry didn't receive a visit until Hagrid arrived at the hut, but maybe the school thought he'd have known he was a wizard having been told about his parents by the Dursleys (which was a mistake to have assumed). With Hermione, I imagine, like Harry, odd things did happen around her, but as a highly logical individual, she probably tried to find mundane, logical explanations. Then once she received her visit and letter, the Grangers went to Diagon Alley to get her school supplies asap so that Hermione could study.
@@classicalheroes8910 why would she? university has no use into the magic world. plus JK clearly stated that Hermione went back to Hogwarts to complete her education and then started a successful career in the ministry of magic right away.
The book is the one you have to watch out for, it's an old stickler and often snaps shut on the quill until it is definitely sure of the magical capabilities of the person
I have this theory that Hermione Granger is a long long long long related to Granger that Slughorn was mention. I think it is illogical to conclude that all of those muggle-borns dont have any wizard and witch in their family line.
I think that Hermione always knew that she was different but wasn't sure how. Though as a muggle she would have been told fairy tales and children's stories that had characters who were witches in it. I don't know if they would have had any television shows that would have depicted witches like in America with the TV shows Bewitched and Sabrina the Teenage Witch where she could have picked it up from television though she may not have watched much TV while growing up. Though she would have been told officially on her 11th birthday and depending on when her birthday is and if it is in September after the September 1 cut off date she would have had almost a year to research all that she could about the wizarding world.
Wow! I think Hermione would have performed accidental magic, then researched it and found a way to control it or at least focus it. She wouldn’t have been able to do anything grand, but she may have been on par (in her own way) as Tom Riddle was before he attended Hogwarts. Of course she would have been trying to use it more practically as opposed to power plays; however I think that leads into how Hermione could cast a full “Reparo” spell before getting to Hogwarts. Even in their first attempts at transfiguration, Hermione is the only one with any success. She has exercised her magic early, so she is more adept.
Didn't they say somewhere in the books that muggle-born witches and wizards receive the visit of a school attendant to explain it all? and that would happen around the child's 11th birthday?
If Hermione was practicing magic before she boarded the Hogwarts Express... why was she never warned by the Ministry? Also of interest to note is that the Trace can't seem to differentiate between magic used by an Adult and a underage, so they rely upon the parents to keep their children from using Magic _which means_ that technically there isn't much keeping members of magical families from using magic underage.
It seems that they know a spell has be cast but with the Weasley family household there are so many adult witch and wizards living there (and visitors) that Ron would be able to preform magic and get away with it. Seems that witch’s and wizards from muggle houses are slightly disadvantaged if your going to get arrested for preforming magic where magic might be seen by others. How do they do their homework? Then again Harry is only warned when a spell is cast on someone that is not his guardian (aunt and uncle) it’s pretty arbitrary
@@deanmottershead9208 How could they know whether a spell was cast for the purposes of homework or not? The movies play somewhat fast and loose with this. Underage magic is not allowed regardless of circumstances, exluding those covered by the reasonable restriction of underage magic. A simple hover charm got Harry warned, it was that magic was used at all that was an issue, as well as the fact that it was done in the presence of muggles. Moreover, knowing this, I highly doubt that Hogwarts would assign homework that would require practical magic and the books would seem to support this as Harry is only stated to be doing essay type work. Good thing that Hermione was given the title of Witch or else Hermione would have to have joined a Witch Club and the Witches would have to give Hermione the title of a Witch. It is said that the professors meet them a month early with their acceptance letter to explain to them that they are magical and to take them to get their school supplies just like what we saw with harry.
I have a question unrelated to this video If a ghost, if you finish your "unfinished business" can you fully die? Or is it even possible to "fully die" as a ghost
Why do the ghosts hang out at Hogwarts, and why do they almost disappear in later installments? At least in the movies. Do the ghosts still have a role in later books?
In Book Seven Professor Mcgonagall asks for Peeves to cause a scene while they prepare to fight the Death Eaters who are about to attack Hogwarts. But he is not in the movies. Also they get one of the horcruxes from the Ravenclaw ghost. Book and movie seven.
I scrolled through all of your videos but I didn't see anything that mentioned what happened to Hermione after the second wizarding war. Since she erased her parents memory of her, was she able to reverse that or were they forever lost to her? I remember being very sad after the last movie wondering if she was ever able to go back to them.
Well I think for powerfull wizards and witches (that they think are powerful) and don’t know anything about hogwarts a teacher may go there explain a bit and leave *a. Hogwarts history* where she would learn a lot more about magic
@@katherinegallagher9081 So far hasn't happened that we know of. However they'd be In hufflepuff i think. They don't fit the other houses the hat said Hufflepuff would take the rest.
Video idea: approximately how rare are magical people? There are only 5 Gryffindor boys in Harry’s year so there are only around 40 Hogwarts students in his year. Does that mean that there are only 40 British wizards/witches out of the all the kids born in that single year?
This has been debated in fandom but no definite answer was ever given. Personally, I doubt that it would work out that there was exactly 5 boys for each house each year.
how many grades did Hermione jump in muggle school before getting her letter? i think maybe academical success maybe involved when her name was inscribed
But in book 1, on the train she tells harry and that it was a surprise and that she tried some spells and the worked for her. That means she would have had to of read them from a book. Which she would have got from diagonally and she only knew that after getting her letter and therefor should have gotten in trouble 😂
Its said in the harry potter series that you cant do magic unless you turn 17...... but in the harry potter and the prisoners of azkaban , the opening scene is harry reading a book using the spell lumos maxima. isn't that illegal?🤨
Maybe she has a far distant relative who is a squib who adjusted and learned to get along in the muggle world coz squibs are being discriminated in the magical world
I have no idea from a know it all.. Where did she get all books to know all these spells and magic classes questions. No one of her age for first year muggle born had access to books.. harry didn't know the answer because aunt and uncle hid it from him... Who brought her to the magic ally to get books before 12 years old?
Is the reason Hermione a Witch is because someone way way back in her family Tree has a Wizard or Witch? Or is it some combo of DNA she got from her parents?
I want to know which of Hermione's ancestors were magical, and if they were famous? Muggle-borns usually have latent magical blood in their ancestry, I thought?
Would Hermione truly be a "mudblood"? because if shes the only known witch or wizard in her family then perhaps she is truly the FIRST magical individual in her bloodline starting a magical lineage. In all honesty and in my opinion the whole "being magical from the start to the end" of an entire family sounds a bit off...possible yeah, but your talking of thousands of years of blood lineage and your telling me all that time no one decided to get it on with a muggle? even if it wasn't consensual.
If Hermione had no one in her family of magic possession, how come she was gifted with that... I can get this point that may be the trait would have been dormant for generations in her family...but saying that no one with magic background is inappropriate.
Do you remember in HBP when Slughorn ask Hermione if she was from the family of "Granger", wherein good at Potion, and Hermione said no. Maybe that Granger is a long long related of her. I am not really well in speaking in english but yoi know what I mean.
Remember she and other students got their books and other required objects before school started so knowing how Hermione has already read many of her books I woulda say she probably got a head start that way. Wizards and witches are not responsible for majic they perform until then are told not to.
WAIT, HOW DID SHE PRACTICE WITHOUT WAND? HOW DID SHE GET THE BOOKS? AND WHERE IS MY LETTER? DID MY OWL FLEW INTO THE WRONG HOUSE? HELP ME! I WANT TO GO THE HOGWARTS!

Hermione Granger vs. Mildred Hubble
I have a question unrelated to this video
If a ghost, if you finish your "unfinished business" can you fully die?
Or is it even possible to "fully die" as a ghost
I want to know to.
Was the inspiration for this video by any chance the Reddit post about Hermione reading the book "Matilda" by Ronald Dahl? :)
Isn't there some sort of radius? For the quill and book?
I have a video idea
How about the common rooms in HOGWARTS
I scrolled through all of your videos but I didn't see anything that mentioned what happened to Hermione after the second wizarding war. Since she erased her parents memory of her, was she able to reverse that or were they forever lost to her? I remember being very sad after the last movie wondering if she was ever able to go back to them.
I think you must have more subscribers than the ones you have now.
* Sorry for the spelling I am from Greece.
That’s perfect spelling
one of our favorite female main characters
me: wha--- she is my favorite not one of
Top most powerful durmsteang students? After ravenclaws? Maybe?
Who created the patronus charm?
Well I think for powerfull wizards and witches (that they think are powerful) and don’t know anything about hogwarts a teacher may go there explain a bit and leave *a. Hogwarts history* where she would learn a lot more about magic
One dating advice for girls reads like this: "You know you are magical, marry a man who knows you are real".
1:20 God I wish I could do this
When a quasars came and told her
Another question, how do MoM determine who are the worthy muggleborns to study in Hogwarts and other wizarding school
At least at Hogwarts it's the Sorting Hat ( although question...? What does happen to people not "sorted"?)
@@katherinegallagher9081 So far hasn't happened that we know of. However they'd be In hufflepuff i think. They don't fit the other houses the hat said Hufflepuff would take the rest.
Watch the video. It isn't the MoM who decides. It's a book and quill locked in a tower at Hogwarts
Her first spell was when she got a 100% on a multiplication test during KINDERGARTEN
how many grades did Hermione jump in muggle school before getting her letter? i think maybe academical success maybe involved when her name was inscribed
I still don't understand if a person has no magical DNA. meaning neither parent, then how did she become magical in the first place?
Imagine how shocked you’d be if you found out you were a witch hunter or wizard I compare it to knowing you are a mutant in marvel
Could there be in Hermione Great(x?) Grandparents where Witch or Wizard? To pass down the magic gene.
Now I’m watching they say dis vid was made 6 mins ago
Maybe she has a far distant relative who is a squib who adjusted and learned to get along in the muggle world coz squibs are being discriminated in the magical world
Guess what! I'm not first!
Should have been in Ravenclaw
Absolutely not
He or someone else made a video on why she was in Gryffindor .It will make sense as to why she is in Gryffindor,
I have no idea from a know it all.. Where did she get all books to know all these spells and magic classes questions. No one of her age for first year muggle born had access to books.. harry didn't know the answer because aunt and uncle hid it from him... Who brought her to the magic ally to get books before 12 years old?
so no one still gonna talk about how hermoine grew from the most annoying character to all our favorite one.
Fun Fact: She is the daughter of Catelin Stark
It's sad because they not know they have a daughter now
Hold up my mans giving us amazing content ands only got 2k views and 250 likes. Like what
I have a question :
In the goblet of fire, how did sirius know that people will die?
In the Triwizard tournament? Because people did die and that’s why the one in Goblet was the first tournament in a long time
I bet the person who disliked this video was Harry Potter Folklore LOL SHADYYY
I don't see any dislikes at the moment.
There was a Granger named in Dumbledores notes to Beedle the Bard
@@ronnaketsiko9208 ya ..i am getting your point...
I must say ...you have a really keen observation
Hermione is a great witch
Ochilas reparus
Was done by no teaching
Oculus Reparo I believe is rhe correct spelling.
Remember she and other students got their books and other required objects before school started so knowing how Hermione has already read many of her books I woulda say she probably got a head start that way. Wizards and witches are not responsible for majic they perform until then are told not to.
Yes yes
Thank you
Im quite bad in spelling
But I pronounce it all correct
👍👍👍👍
Maybe Dumbledore visited her just like he met Tom Riddle or you know who
Or professor McGonagall, at least thats what I read several times
WAIT, HOW DID SHE PRACTICE WITHOUT WAND? HOW DID SHE GET THE BOOKS? AND WHERE IS MY LETTER? DID MY OWL FLEW INTO THE WRONG HOUSE? HELP ME! I WANT TO GO THE HOGWARTS!
Her character should have been in ravenclaw
She almost was, the sorting hat was between ravenclaw and gryffindor but went with gryffindor obviously.
