    I hope people take note of the Ed Coan's recommendation of the importance of longer training cycles, especially if you're a beginner, and the whole concept of building a strong base. Longer cycles = more consistent long-term gains.

    • @sucktdeep
      @sucktdeep 9 лет назад

      Phil Clarke What does a training cycle mean for a beginner ?

    • @philclarke3660
      @philclarke3660 9 лет назад

      It means the same thing for anyone, just a beginner would probably be able to progress faster. Like I use a 4-month cycle, and increase intensity and decrease volume gradually over each month. Because it's a long cycle and gradual shift, I have never had issues with injury.

    • @scwotz
      @scwotz 9 лет назад

      Phil Clarke When you recover and get stronger within 48-72 hours as a beginner why would you set up a 4 month training cycle with monthly increases? It makes more sense to me to slightly increase the weight each training session to continue progress.

    • @scwotz
      @scwotz 9 лет назад

      ***** Correct. Ideally you alter your programming to be appropriate to your training advancement before you plateau.

    • @brandonhoover2120

    I would love to start doing my bent over rows like he shows since it makes sense that it's recruiting more back muscle than your standard Yates type of row.. He seems to be rounding the thoracic spine towards the lower part of the movement a good deal. I was wondering if that's dangerous when moving heavier weight, and what he's doing to brace his mid to upper spine at the bottom of the movement when it's so rounded to stay safe.

    Mark I love your guys vids! Best youtube channel hands down. I wish i saw this vid a week ago, I was doing conventional deads, after just doing sumos for about a month or 2, and pulled my lower back. Im sure its from over training, working to often in my 90-100 % pulls. I also think that my body is probably built to just do sumos. Do you guys think I should just stick to sumos, Im stronger in conventional but I just cant pull with a straight back in that position.
