    The first time my husband had a paralytic ileus was during the height of COVID, early summer 2020. He went to the hospital twice, two different ERs. Both hospitals did CT scans, then sent him home with no treatment. He hadn't moved his bowels (aside from the diarrhea that leaked out around the blockage occasionally) for 2 full weeks. He hadn't eaten in 5 days. He had thrown up water for 3 days. No laxatives had worked-even chugging an entire bottle of magnesium citrate had not been effective.
    He lay in our bed in the fetal position, moaning, and trembling. I instinctively reached out to comfort him. His skin was cold to the touch. He was white as a ghost. I thought, "He's going to die." I begged him to go to another hospital. He refused, stating it wouldn't make any difference. He also said it would cost too much, as we were already on the hook for the two previous ER visits. He wanted to wait for the surgical referral he was given at Vanderbilt instead. However, we were told that referral wouldn't be processed until the middle of the following week.
    I began to panic. I desperately searched for a place to get him a colonic on an emergency basis. It was a Saturday afternoon, and most places were closed. Those that were open were booked. In a last-ditch attempt, I reached out to a local place via email. I begged the owner to get my husband in right away, as I was terrified he wouldn't make it through the night. The owner called me almost immediately, and opened a slot for him the next morning.
    It was Sunday, the next day. I dropped off my husband at the colon hydrotherapy center. About 90 minutes later, he called me to pick him up. He immediately asked for food. He said he felt a great deal better immediately, but there was still some blockage left. The hydrotherapist wanted him to come in for another colonic the next day; that way, she could give his body a short break.
    He got that second colonic. All told, he had a seven pound blockage in his intestines that was too high up to be seen on the CT scan.
    No one could tell us why the ileus occurred, and the ER doctors were perfectly content to let him die at home. This happened again within a year, but we booked him for a colonic right away the second time. It cleared up the blockage in one session.
    I wholeheartedly believe colon hydrotherapy saved my husband's life!

      I couldn’t sit up for more than 10 minutes. Had a deep ache under my sacrum. I think it was due to toxicity from using the contraceptive sponge prior to this for a couple of years. The sponge was eventually banned due to toxic shock syndrome. I think I had a chronic built up of toxins. No Dr. Could help me and for 31/2 years I went through this. My boyfriend would transport me in his van from Dr. to Dr. I had to lay down in the back of his van. Was desperate and heading toward a wheelchair, so went for a series of 6 colonics-one every 3 days. In 2 weeks I could sit up and the ache was completely gone. I was astonished by this. Wasn’t a placebo cause I tried everything prior to this with great hope.
      I can see how though if your’e old and the lining of your gut is fragile you need to be careful. Home colonics don’t use as much pressure as professional ones. Maybe start with enemas. No med advice here, just some ideas. Yes, be careful, everyone’s different. I was younger when I had them. But what is weird, this doc doesn’t mention the risk with colonoscopies. People have had perforations with those-you even have to sign a release from liability form. And they do a colonic prior to this test, don’t they? I think some of the meds used with these tests have black box warnings also.

    So true story I had a co-worker that was going on and on about this supplement that you took to make you have a BM where you would allegedly release all of the trapped matter in your colon for over 5 years... I argued with her a little bit becoming frustrated that she didn't believe me that nothing stayed in there for more than 48 hours under any circumstances... and then I called in a board-certified gastroenterologist to support my argument.... But she disagreed with him too. You can lead a horse to water... But you can't teach her about plumbing.
    It was actually pretty funny because we regularly booked colonoscopies for people and she gave them the instructions for doing the cleansing beforehand but she never put two and two together that obviously the last couple of metres of their digestive tract had to be completely clear for the colonoscopy to work so obviously even magnesium citrate would work for most people.... Yet there was this weird supplement that you could take that would make you have epic five-year BMS.... I'm pretty sure it was some sort of non soluble fiber because you had to take a big scoop of white stuff... Just know that even if you could call in an expert for testimony that doesn't mean that the stupid person you're arguing with will believe it so don't waste your time.

Because they take one drop then mix it then another drop and mix it 30 times over, but this mercuris vivus solution was 8x, meaning one ml of mercury in 10 ml of water then one ml of that solution in 10 ml 8 times over, meaning the solution is one part mercury for every 100,000,000 parts of water, and one drop of water is about 3.34x10^22 molecules. I think the important thing is to recognize that these irrigations are medical procedures. As such, their benefit should outweigh their risks (and basically all medical procedures do have risks). Furthermore, they should be performed by people who have been trained in performing them. In the case you described, the patient can find significant relief and I suspect it was performed by someone trained. And thus the benefit was high and the risk small. However, it's a different story with people who find scammy articles online about "detoxing your body" or such. These people are not really sick, so the expected benefit is little. If they're doing it at home by themselves, this also raises the risk of severe complications. So I think this is why the case you described is very different from the one described in the video.

    • @rachel705
      @rachel705 Год назад +2

      I think I can help answer this one! Douches are ok as long as you are using clean water, going slow and keeping it shallow. The problem with colonics is that they send absurdly pressurized water deep into the most fragile part of your colon. If you stay in the rectum (the part of your intestine closest to the exit) and use very gentle pressure there aren’t really too many bad things that can happen. If it feels uncomfortable, then you’re probably causing irritation, so you’d want to reposition.

    I have to have a colonoscopy before age 30 due to my mom's stage IV colon cancer before age 50. It's in 2 days and I am freaking terrified. Tomorrow I have to do the prep which is called "golytely", a huge container of electrolyte solution and polyethylene glycol. Plus ducolax. It creates a waterfall of terror situation in the bathroom. Then the day of the procedure, just knowing I will be going down for a nap under anesthesia, waking up knowing what happened while I was "asleep" 😖 and I'm terrified of what the doctor might find since the type of cancer my mom has starts in childhood with a carpeting of tumors in the colon, and I've had IBS my whole life... I'm a young mom. I'm doing this so I can get the necessary treatment if the surgeon finds anything so I can be around for my kids but it is absolutely terrifying. People are concerned about so many petty things nowadays and it's a real eye opener when you could be facing cancer before the age of 30.
