I started bringing some of my fruit trees into my garage a few days ago. I will bring in a few more today. 😊

Smart, I think im going to take my olive tree and rosemary in the small containers inside as well, no sense in them getting killed

If your backyard is fully enclosed then you might consider opening up some cold-air-drainage so that the cold doesn't get trapped within your fencing. Cold-air flows somewhat like water so it needs a drainage plan as much as stormwater does. My extension office had a page on it for fruit trees & there is a video example of the damage in my drainage playlist.

It’s crazy how I watched this one take video 4 or 5 times during editing, and still missed “radisheets” at 2:03 haha, I guess I was moving the sheet and subconsciously combined radishes and sheets into one word

I spent the last 2 days banking my citrus trees with mulch, leaves, and soil. I banked one about 30 inches on a Lemonade tree that is 10 feet tall. The idea is trying to save everything under the mulch, saving the graft. Everything above the mulch will probably die. They all survived 2021, but this one for us (SE Texas) will be worse. Wind chill down to 5 degrees. And 4 nights of lows in the teens or low twenties. I have my garage packed with container plants. Even figs have a hard time in containers with wind chill this low. I have hopes my cauliflower that has not headed will make it, but I really doubt it. Carrot tops will be bit back, but I think they are big enough to make it. Hope your raised beds do well. Only time will tell. Winter damage can be really hard to understand with some plants that should make it dying with other plants more tender surviving.

Smart! I think one of the real killers in 2021 was the freezing rain we got right before the storm. Just getting cold without the precipitation isnt that bad, even my eggplant looked like it was doing okay this morning at 13F

@@AustinTexasGardening I think having ice or snow before freezing temperatures actually helps with freeze damage. The eggplant will look good until the temperatures get above freezing. And I learned something I should have already know. Twigs on trees do not bend when temperatures are in the teens. Ran into one that it me in face, busting my lip. I fought the twig and the twig won. Makes me want to cut down the whole peach tree, but it is just too cold.

The greens might actually be fine, but yes, citrus and 15 degrees is pushing the limit. This is no 2021 though, freeze will only be sustained for 48 hours, as opposed to almost a week during the big storm. I wouldnt be surprised if your citrus pulls through no problem.
