Intercooler/Intake Pipework - Routing & Installation | Supercharging an MX5 Miata Ep 24

- I got the MP45 supercharger installed, I got the intercooler installed, now I just need to get it all connected up. This will mean navigating the engine bay to get from the air filter to the supercharger, from the supercharger to the intercooler, and finally from the intercooler to the throttle body. Armed with a table full of silcone elbows and alloy pipe I'm ready to get involved. The majority of the parts I'm using were purchased from Auto Silicone Hoses (ASL) who's main distribution centre just happens to be down the road. Once I've got the pipework sorted I'm extremely close to getting the car running - the final few jobs being installing the boost gauge, the blow off valve, and the IAT sensor which you'll see in the next episode.

Pipework is looking GOOD.... not long now before we hear that supercharger whine!!
Thanks John. Yep. Getting close!
When the next episode please, great build.
Cheers. 2 weeks until next Ep
Just discovered this channel :D
👍🏻 Welcome!
How do you find a right length belt?
Hey there, Im just now gathering all parts needed to supercharge my Miata but I have a quick question, is the blow off valve necessary if i have that bypass tee'd into my intake?
What hight over the rad do you have so the bonnet can still be closed ?
Not sure but those silicone bends are 2.5", so it must be more than that. I have dropped the radiator brackets to make this work

got a link to the video on how to make the bead roller?
Not finished editing it yet sorry. It isn't far off.
@@FastRust don’t worry! i’ll be using it when i make the cooler pipes for my turbo setup, love this build can’t wait to see it finished
If you need it ASAP all it is is a cheap pair of mole grips, an exhaust clamp and a big M12 washer welded together. Sure you'll get the idea. Nice one glad you're enjoying it. Been quite a slog to do it/film it etc but it's not far off! How's the turbo build by comparison?
@@FastRust haha thanks! still need to do alot of fitting, got the me221 & wideband all sorted, fitted a boost controller too. the cars still in daily use so it’s all little jobs to get out the way before the big one, next is intercooler & injectors. always weather permitting tho which isn’t ideal at the moment 😂
Why do you need an intercooler for a Supercharger? That just seems like a step that isn’t needed. Cold air doesn’t need to go through an intercooler.
Same reason as a turbo. Intake temps without an intercooler would be very high.
@@FastRust True but not nearly not as high as turbo
Also true but still high enough to negatively affect performance. I know a few people who run a similar setup with no intercooler and have no end of issues with intake air temp.
@@FastRust good to know! You’re videos are great information. Get it up!!👍
Don't tee off the map line. It will be difficult to tune. And drive funny.
Not the MAP line, it's tee'd with the boost gauge. MAP has its own dedicated line 👍🏻
