After watching your videos and being a subscriber for almost two years I finally was able to buy a turbo NB Miata. Hands down best Miata content on RUclips. Can’t wait to see the built 6.0 and the new motor for Molly. Keep doing what you’re doing. From a fellow Kaleb.
The Wrench'o'phone is where it's at! Great video and thanks for sharing the new Intercooler install. Kinda cool seeing my name in the Outro. Best wishes and Peace Out!
Tip for tig when you Weld something hollow you have to fill it with your shielding gas or else regular air will cause porosity coming from inside the pipe
Tips for tig welding aluminum: When welding two different size pieces (radiator -> mounts) it is important to heat up the bigger piece a lot. Thin aluminum has a tough time distributing heat all over the piece, some times I use a torch to get the whole piece hot. 90% of the time more heat spread out is better.
If you want an easier time drilling, get a decent name brand set of cobalt drill bits from amazon. They last much longer compared to normal bits and do excellent drilling harder metals. Cutting fluid also helps, and drilling holes larger than about 1/4 with a pilot hole first.
Aluminum welding is tricky, it’s a heat sink and it puddles/melts at a much smaller temperature range than steel. You need to sink a lot of heat into the rad and less into the bracket because of the vast size difference. Once the puddle begins on the rad bring it over to the bracket and you should be good. Keep at it boss !
If you want some low engine temps, check out; reflect a gold. It's a great heat resistant wrap! Loving the build dude, I've watched since the video game days. You should do a little throw back intro back to the golden days, you still game right?!
Love the sounds can’t wait to hear mine run again. Also sick Kellogg’s shirt. You should consider fabbing a v mount setup for her when you put the new setup in!
If you want to stop your drill bits from dulling, use cutting oil. Less heat generated and an easier cut. Whenever cutting pipe, try putting a sodden dowel in the middle. It will stop the pipe from rounding out.
If your drill bits are getting dull, your using them wrong!. I have used the same bits for over 5 years now, and I sharpen them two or three times a year. They will last if you are using them correctly! Low speed, lots of cooling paste while drilling and let the drill do the work, rather than pressing the drill into the material. Just a little tip. :)
Hey Gingium, I haven't been home in a while, but I don't know if live in the same place that you used to a while back, if you do then we now live 2 houses down from each other. I'd love to kick back and drink a beer with you. I love your builds, I was building a 2010 Audi A4 2.0T, but it was totaled a few weeks ago. I used to show all of my friends your house whenever the Miata's were outside. I'd love to hangout or even help out one day. I won't be home for a while because I'm stationed in NC. If you are home, I look forward to hanging out, if you don't want, to I look forward to seeing your car
"Molly your mission if you choose to accept it.......is to be unsuspecting, pure stealth mode. If you fail. The existant of this mission will be denied.....good luck."
you have to get aluminum super clean and fairly hot when welding aluminum, i would suggest blowtorching your aluminum before welding because it dissipates heat so damn quickly, double checking gas flow and make sure your tip is basically new and you should have a much better time. Great video though, love seeing this car get some love.
Try increasing your gas flow if it starts looking contaminated or clean the metal with a brand new wheel and brush, try to use different wheels for each type of metal for the best results. Hope this helps a little.
Loved the vid man, wish me luck, I have an interview Wednesday to become a manager at my company. Nervous as hell and can’t sleep but really excited too
You are soooooo cool man. I love your work. Keep it up and don't let anything or anyone pull you down. I see you hitting 1mil or more by the end of next year. It's like christmas when you upload videos even if they are not that interesting and you are probably the only youtuber whose videos I watch even If I don't like it(as I am sorry for no longer being a patreon since I'm jobless rn)
i Miss Molly she is such an awesome car, I love how he’s human Ofcourse he’s human but whenever we’re going to work on our cars we get hella stressful and we saw here with Ginguim I don’t know I just really like that
Maybe something to try for the brackets. Swivel the bracket out of the way and use a torch to heat up the radiator a little bit. Flip the cool bracket onto the warm radiator and arc up on the radiator then walk the puddle over to the bracket and weld it up. Looks like the radiator is dissipating the heat really fast and the bracket is melting before you can get a puddle on the radiator.
try using cutting lubricant or at least WD40 when drilling to keep your bits from dulling after 2 uses. Also the nitride coated drill bits from harbor freight are absolute trash. get high speed steel bits or high carbon ones, but they're more brittle so a drill press is recommended.
You should try and get some matco hyper step drill bits. They are super nice. And you can warranty them if they get dull or break. There is only one row of bits in the box they won't warranty and it's just the small ones. But from experience they rip.
Bro you gotta use some lubricant (even WD40 helps) when drilling metal to help keep temps down and to mainly help save the life of your drill bits. don't be lazy and skip lube, it makes a huge difference in the lifespan of bits.
Gingium as far as the welding part of the video don't feel too discouraged about it I can tell you that welding is about fucking up a lot when you're learning. I can give you a peice of advice in that trying to weld thin gauge aluminum to a thicker peice like the radiator is an uphill battle, the thermal conductivity of the radiator is gonna keep it cooled while the thin edge of your other peice will be eaten away.
you couldn't weld on the radiator because it still had some leftover fluids at the bottom and it was colling down the surface area, therefore, it wasn't heating up the surface enough to melt the two surface together
Remember when you wanted to buy back and build the Corolla, what was her name, mica? wild, you should definitely look into that, it would be a cool daily driver project
Lesson learnt: _Throw your aluminium on the floor if it doesn't weld._
i have to say, i love the custom wrench microphone.
I second that.
What the frick
Its honestly super high quality technology
It really grew on me lol
I agree. It should become a standard thing at the beginning of future videos.
Sponsored by MishiMoto? Dam, Gingium has come up since the days of the Focus😎
Fred! I remember!
I remember fred
Gingium that thin of aluminum you have to use stick.... lol it’s a lot easier...
Too bad mishimoto is garbage.
ISOMedia FRED! the old days
Gingium : MOH POWA BABEH
James Pumphrey : That's ma boi
Hmph hmph its actually jermy clarkson who says that
Ready for EVEN MORE POWAH!
Ps. If you plan on changing the look of Molly, please consider bringing the pop up headlights back.
;)
MOAR POWAH BABY!
Ricardo Martinez *pumphrey in the crowd* (pop up up and down headlights)
Pop pop up and down headlights UH!
POP POP UP 'N DOWN HEADLIIIIGHTS!!
0:00 You have to love this guys creativeness. I would have never thought of that wrench microphone...
Tip to drill metal (as other materials also) always start with smaller diameter drill tips and gradually increase diameter.
Nice vid, as always ❤️
Dont forget to oil that schitt well!
Legend has it the reason the piping wasn't welding right is because you were stood on the gas line. :)
10:26 it do be that way sometimes, most people don't show the massive frustrations, but I'm glad you kept it real.
You can sharpen drill bits with a simple angle grinder
120 ° to 130 ° tip angle is what you need.
Keep it cool.
Or just pre-drill with a smaller bit.
or drill a pilot hole
I use my dad's drill bit sharpener he got off tv like 20ys ago and its awsome and in most cases better than new .
So MCM did show that black intercoolers worked better but was disproven by Engineering Explained

I've watched vidoes on this channel for a while now and to see all the progres is amazing! Keep it up Intercoolium
Hah, "M" for Molly? Nice upgrade Gingium.
Paul Woods m for miata lmao
Lookin fly with the kelloggs shirt at the end bruh
Run like 30 psi and blow the motor
And new motor in
Or put it in the rally miata
@@dennis9810 why it runs fine

Hey, great vid but:
At 5:10 it looks like you are fastening aluminum brackets to a steel one. It might corrode.
Stainless steel to unpainted mild steel. I'm gonna get the whole thing powdercoated when we pull the engine!
@@_Gingium_ Awesome, I was uncertain so figured I'd comment just incase! Goodluck and much love from Sweden!
@@_Gingium_ you might also look into bits labeled hss if you want to poke holes in stainless and hardened steels
Tip for tig when you Weld something hollow you have to fill it with your shielding gas or else regular air will cause porosity coming from inside the pipe
It’s cool to see gingium grow so fast when I was here from the forza days
When you hear *Mo Powah Babeh*
Glad to know Gingium watches Donut Media
liking the sponsor and the new intercooler. keep the good work coming
I'm so happy you uploaded another video! Your videos bring me up when I'm down and I love that about them.

This is still some of the most rad content on RUclips I find it really cool how you do what I want to do and you do it very good.
If you have a High Frequency Ignition on your Tig Machine Use it to break up the Oxides on the aluminum before you begin welding
The car sounds absolutely amazing. That blowoff noise is sick. Looks like so much fun to drive.
Caleb I'd say that your problems welding the intercooler piping is possibly that you got cheap tubing
Throwing it makes it more expensive
Yeah, could be a cheap non weldable type of aluminum.
Cheaper aluminum pipe forsure. Might have been a lot nicer to weld if he pre heated it too
spray WD40 on your drill bits multiple times while drilling. good gearhead trick even for porting and such
335xi Boost he does that but apparently he forgets physics under stress
6:38 I see you too are a man of culture

I love watching these vids, it’s well done and kinda therapeutic. Keep doing what you do Caleb!
Sounds wicked haha. Love the flutter when you don't build quite enough boost to open the BOV.
Loving that Kellogg’s shirt
oh my god that sounds waaay better
I love the blowoff valve noise!
That was an awesome video, Molly, Turbo, Mishimoto parts, Welding and emotion! Keep up the awesome videos.
That is the most cleanest miata that I have ever seen 👍

turn your frequency up on the welder, also for dirty aluminum like that you can turn your balance to more postive for more cleaning action
Sounds awesome can’t wait for the new motor and it’s sick how molly now has a M 👏🏻

On the second half of the video you suddenly turned into a Corvette owner man. Love your vids btw, keep it up!
Release the pressure on the drill, let the drill bit do the work and keep it cool with water or oil, it will prevent your drill bits from dieing 🙂

New intercooler is BLAAAAAAACK. MCM FTW

try back flowing the argon/helium and seal the tube with foil, ive heard that helps

Aahhh, good old Weldium
You should try cleaning it with acetone before you weld.
Finnally a youtuber that expresses how he really feels when shit wants to fight back 😂👌
LOVE THE MIC BRO LOVE THE CONTENT
LETS GET THAT MO POWR BABY
Get yourself some cobalt drill bits. Some tapping oil and a drill press
He turned into Madium when he was trying to weld that pipe😂
Gingium’s driving face >>
Try pre heating the tubing before welding. I’ve heard a few fab guys say it sometimes makes a world of difference
I genuinely love the mic😂
You have a Mishimoto sponsor... yooo, time for some mishimoto bus parts
The turbo flutter hits like a whiplash
0:02 is gonna be the day
Yata sounds sick
Make sure when your cleaning the metal you use a wire brush that is only for aluminum
You should get one of those blow off valves that do the little whistle, like for example the GReddy Type S or one of those nice HKS ones.
You should try and get some matco hyper step drill bits. They are super nice. And you can warranty them if they get dull or break. There is only one row of bits in the box they won't warranty and it's just the small ones. But from experience they rip.
now Molly can sututututu.
im happy
i hope she can sutututu when the new engine arrives ;)
Pro tip, add some ducting so air doesn't go around or under the rad.
He said he was going to do that

Might want to consider voiceover for the time-lapse. Taylor Ray has done that recently and it adds to the viewing experience over just music.
For drilling metal consider using wd40 or some sort of oil to help extend the life of drill bits
i love how you use a wrench as a mic stand
Now it sounds 1000X better than an SR20 ;)
The Kellogs shirt reminds me of the shirts/jerseys they wore in Idiocracy.

Good lord @Gingium XD
What's next? Gonna start shouting LIGHTNING each time your friend has to jump his RX-7? Xp
you need to back purge that's why you got high porosity welds.
Remember when you wanted to buy back and build the Corolla, what was her name, mica? wild, you should definitely look into that, it would be a cool daily driver project

Soften the steel before you drill, makes it much easier. And wear safety glasses.
