    The first piece you ate was from the end of the tail, so you go higher up the tail you get more meat and less fat. The meat in beef tails are the best of the cow. It is a different texture and flavour of meat from the rest of the cow, great in soup/stew/BBQ.

    You have some very useful videos for a person that will go and live in Egypt. Do you know what would be the best way to find month stay furnished apartments for rent in New Cairo area ? I’ve looked some on Airbnb but the prices seems very overpriced with prices around $800-1k around the New Cairo area. I know it varies depending on which area in New Cairo but still it feels like they want to charge a premium to tourists.

    • @Gventures
      @Gventures  10 месяцев назад

      Ach, to be honest, renting is just really expensive here, for what you get in return. I know in places like Argentina or all over Asia you can get some really beautiful, modern places for a really great price, but not so in Egypt. New Cairo is also a "rich" area so things are going to be more costly there. Renting here is just a pain in the ass. Unless you are committing to a year rental contract and furnishing the place yourself, most places are not going to be so cheap.
      So honestly, Airbnb really is your best bet if you want a furnished apartment with a contract that isn't extremely long. You can check on sites like Olx for rentals, and FB groups as well, but I don't know how much luck you will have on those sites either. It is pretty expensive when comparing the quality you receive. Or look in different areas and not New Cairo, which is a satellite city and has lots of compounds and yeah, is just a generally richer neighborhood far away from real Cairo

    Can you do a video on tipping ? When I was there couple of months ago I was tipping like crazy 😂

    • @Gventures
      @Gventures  10 месяцев назад +1

      Lol, thanks.
      You know, it's so hard to know what to do about tipping in Egypt. I haven't made a video about it yet, though I have though about it. But I think it's hard to know what to say in the video. There are too many scenarios and different circumstances that apply to the situation. People booking tours with luxury tour companies and agencies should be tipping a lot more to all the staff for all the service they receive. People that book mid-range tours and stay at mid-range hotels will be tipping something different. And budget tours and accommodations have different tipping expectations as well, of course. There are tour guides you can pay $30 a day for. Of course the tip to them is going to be less. But for a more expensive guide, they might expect $30 as a tip! So when talking about tours, there's no easy answer.
      Then there are daily activities and local life, which is what I am more familiar with (I don't take tours or stay in hotels so my knowledge is limited in that above arena).
      As an American, I feel bad when I don't tip often and perhaps a good amount. By a "good amount" I don't mean tons of money, just more than what I see my Egyptian boyfriend or friends tipping. I will tell you what I see Egyptians tipping (and what they tell me to do): For an Uber, they round up. If it's 53 EGP, they tip 55. If it's 54, they tip 55. Some will tip 60 if it is 54, but that is really usually all they leave.
      At restaurants, especially if local and not fancy, they pay the exact amount on the bill. Maybe they round up like with the Uber. If it is a nice restaurant, they might leave more, it depends on what they thought about the service.
      For delivery (like food for example), they also usually round up, so if the food is 86 they give them 90. One friend told me, if you want to be generous, you can give them 95. I usually do this though, as I feel bad tipping so little. Tipping 10 EGP is still not that much.
      I also think many Egyptians working (especially in touristic locations) kind of expect a tip from us foreigners, but they don't necessarily from other Egyptians. I dunno though, maybe that's just in my head. Anyway, yeah it's hard to know when and what to tip, but bottom line, Egyptians I know don't tip much, but if you can afford it, why not, it makes them happy.

    • @Gventures
      @Gventures  10 месяцев назад +1

      Hmmm....probably Sobhy. Although Dahan is closer to me and has a much wider selection of dishes, I do think everything at Sobhy Kaber is just better. The salad and tahina at El Dahan aren't as good as they are at Sobhy. The sambousas are better at Sobhy. Probably everything is just better at Sobhy. But if you want more of a variety, el Dahan is the better choice, and their food is obviously delicious too. I just don't go to Sobhy that often and it's been a while since I had such a good salad and tahina, even though it is served all the time with food, it was elevated at Sobhy.

    Love the food over there, Pigeon is good, Did I ask you if you have tried Camel? that is excellent, didn't care for the Heart or Liver but camel meat is good, Why does their food always taste better than our crap here LOL. In Tokyo I made the mistake of eating Horse at a Sushi place, I thought is was a cut of sushi, turned out to be raw Horse meat, then I saw another one that looked like cooked Sushi, well turned out to be Horse meat again and RAW ugh! just with an egg on top, I tried Fugu (Blow Fish) Twice and lived! in Jerusalem I had some good Shawarma, damn good, I forgot to put away my Military ID around my neck and the guy was telling his Brother in Arabic that I was a Jundi, that spooked me. see ya.

    I had a motorcycle accident last year and was in a hospital next to this restaurant
    When I woke up after the operation, my wife brought me food from this restaurant
    I went back into the coma again
    It was very tasty but not suitable for a sick person🤣

      Oh my God. Glad you are okay!
      Yes their food is very rich and tasty, but perhaps not for someone who was just in an accident and in the hospital. May you always be protected, safe and and in good health! 🙏

      Fighting. There was a huge food fight around me and I just didn't film it 🤣 Joking. Of course it was people eating man. The restaurant was full of people eating and having conversations and enjoying themselves.

    How to avoid scams and pickpockets

    • @Gventures
      @Gventures  10 месяцев назад +1

      They don't have pickpockets here, at least I have never encountered one here. The situation in regards to thieves is very safe in Egypt. There are plenty of scams and people trying to charge you more, but that is pretty typical in many parts of the world. The best way to avoid scams is say No to someone offering something if you do not want it, don't feel pressured to buy anything or agree to anything you don't want. When shopping in markets, go to a few shops and ask the price for the exact same item or similar item, then you will get a better idea of what you should be paying. Don't forget to negotiate each time as well. Take Ubers and not the white taxis, Uber will give you a fair price and it is shown on the app. And if taking tours, find tour companies with good reviews online

      Many restaurants offer dishes for fasting Christians who also abstain from meat during their fast. You will most likely encounter various falafel, beans, and Koshari restaurants. Many burger and pizza places offer specialized vegetarian menus for fasting Christians. Cheers!
