I'm so glad this video is Dante focused. I love Vergil, but I'm a little sad that he's overshadowed Dante so much recently. Dante is the foundational component of the entire series and he's one of the most mechanically complex playable characters ever. The skill ceiling is endless.
Overshadowed feels like an understatement even lol since it feels like Dante doesn't even exist among the large amount of people outside the fanbase that loves Vergil.
@@Njin8492 yeah just look at all the memes created for vergil and it's views then compare it to dante, many people who haven't played dmc games have heard of bury the light and associates it to vergil.
@@motivatedbyvergildantenero2315 i pirated dmc5 just because of a status meme, (got the hd collection 4 special edition and 5 deluxe legitimately after though)
*Nero:* Easy to pick up but has a ton of complexity hidden under the surface that only shines after learning how to perfectly time Exceed and knowing how to take advantage of every DB. *V:* He is there and can be uh, fun? But definitely made for beginners. *Dante:* made for highly-skilled players to shine and show off the skills they have honed after dozens of hours of practice. Incredibly overwhelming to learn for new players to use. *Vergil:* You are the boss fight. The "enemies" are more like living punching bags that only exist for you to obliterate. The ultra-efficient version of Dante with maximum firepower for little set-up. Also, Judgement Cut. Want to delete a boss fast? Hell on Earth. Want everything to disappear right away? Doppelganger + SDT + perfect judgement cuts = utter annihilation
What people think dmc5 is like: your comment What dmc5 is really like: Nero mains: haha buster arm go YEET Dante mains: haha laser beam goes BRRR Vergil mains: judgement nut never end and hell on earth go BOOM V mains: when I press buttons, things tend to happen
I honestly figured out Dante relatively quickly and find Vergil to be a bit more tricky because it’s much more about timing and the button mapping for him is weird
Even as a somewhat experienced player, I still can't say I understand DMC5 Dante and completely forget that certain moves exist. But I can say that Vergil is much more streamlined Dante, even though they look the same at the first glance. The main difference is that Dante has all his style moves and different weapon forms, in addition to his basic moves for each of his 4 ranged and melee weapons (which I think makes saying Dante has 10 different melee weapons and 6 guns to be more accurate). But Vergil just has 3 melee weapons and each weapon has a specific purpose (Range, Damage, and Speed). His summoned swords (guns) also use the same special inputs as the melee weapons and no weapon has any stance change mechanics (though you could argue Beowulf with it's charging), which makes each weapon's moves easier to use. Besides the super moves, concentration only gives boosts to certain attributes of weapons that benefit their specific purpose. I'd even argue Vergil is easier to understand and use than Nero, considering all the shenanigans with devil bringer punches, devil breakers, and exceed/max act, especially considering you have 20 whole missions compared to about 7 each for the others. I hope this helps if you want to understand Vergil better.
There is still Doppleganger and Sin DT to take into consideration, when you get to a higher skill level with Vergil you’ll start to utilise Sin DT cancels and to know what to use with it when, and with Doppleganger yeah just blast that when you need an easy escape or want to spam judgement cuts
True, but I'd say he's still the "simplest" character at lower levels. Dante has move overload and a variety of mechanics. Nero has Exceed, Devil Breakers, and Bringer Knuckle, all of which have pretty tight timing or unique properties. And V is just different from everyone else. Vergil has concentration and doppelganger, both of which are relatively straightforward to use even if they're hard to master. I'll differ to your judgement on Vergil's complexity though, because I'm not an expert by any means. I only have a little under 100 hours.
As a Dante main all I can say is to just take your time and just try to master a style and a weapon and once you do you'll eventually get to know the true power that Dante poses hell it honestly took me 2 years the fully master him good luck and God speed
Took me a few days to get the hang of him. And that’s just after starting to play the games. I even pulled off a combo that sounds complex, but just requires timing in practice
I'm begging you man, post more videos about your progress! I wanna see how you slowly master Dante, or just getting better with him in general! He's so much fun, and I really want you to experience how much fun Vergil is to play, he's just as badass as Dante. Best of luck, love the vids, keep up the hard work!
It's always entertaining to hear people's experiences coming to this series. That said, don't let Vergil intimidate you. He's not as complicated as Dante, he just requires a lot more precision. If Dante is a fighter jet control panel, Vergil is a giant harp. Dante Must Die. Curious to see what you think about that. It's the hallmark difficulty of the community.
I had the exact same experience with I realized how many tools Dante has to work with the moment you get to play as him, but personally, I was more excited than filled with dread. Even now I mostly just use the sword and the punching weapons because I love any boxing style in video games, but it's so insanely satisfying to actually use all three beginner friendly styles at what I feel is a pretty good skill level (forget Royal Guard, though, I spend enough time learning counter timing in Yakuza to even begin learning it for a whole other series). Oh, and after the post game Nero can use the Devil Breaker again, so have fun using that in combat as well
Dante is so cool that he's got so many styles, so many moves and so many weapons. Thats why he's hard to master. It took me 7 months to get a grip on Dante with fast weapon and style switching in DMC 5 PC...
Dante compilations are insane. You really gotta play the game for dozens of hours to learn some strings, let alone the enemy attacks and when to Royal Guard them.
@@BigBoss-u6c3v everyone starts at some point, there's no shame in accepting you were bad once, the only shame is mocking people willing to be honest with themselves and others.
The secret to improving is just trying every move individually and using them mid battle a few times or in practice mode individually and see how it can work with other moves until you memorize it. Literally just one thing at a time, and then remembering to apply what you learned constantly as you go forward. This is really the secret to improving at anything in life actually, and that is how the pro players get to their skill level. Games like this are just as refined as fighting games, so its going to take extra time and patience to really improve. Trying to do everything at once right off the bat is going to be super overwhelming like you mentioned.
For peeps who struggle playing as Dante in DMC 5, my best tip as someone who went through the same mess too, go play the first and third game. Both games help you on how to understand Dante's style and by then, it becomes second nature. I did it and went back to play as Dante again in five and everything clicked, I understand now why Dante is the legendary devil hunter.
You're one of the humble people and I think persistence, and accepting the overload, then overcoming it, is the most rewarding part of DMC. The fact one can still love Dante after he became too powerful for mere mortals to wield with the controller.
Dante is the devil hunter simulator, he is easy to play but the most difficult to master, but also the most satisfying when played right. Pulling him off right shows you how strong Dante really is. Vergil on the other hand is the epitome of power. Difficulty is thrown out of the window and your job is to be the most badass character in video games. Extra points for only walking and teleporting. I play Vergil when I just wanna be a badass, and Dante when I wanna be skillful.
I love the little gameplay acting at 3:30+ with you just fumbling about thinkin "ayo what the fuck is this shit", punchin air and shit givin the vibe of two brain cells bouncin in your brain tryna process the hell that is Dante, even tho you've got DSD and SDT. Just that funny little attention to detail goin the extra mile for the video.
If you've ever played an old MMO called Elsword, there's a chance you might have played as the character "LuCiel", which is actually two characters in one that you switch between constantly during gameplay. After a while, you start to realize that instead of thinking of it as learning to play two characters, it's better to think of it as swapping between "modes". This is the first thing that came to mind for me the first time I played Dante in DMC5, which I actually played before DMC3 and DMC4. The learning curve for both of these things is very similar in how you should be approaching it. Information overload is very easy to fall into, but don't let the wide range of options intimidate you. Think of it as charting out a map. There's a lot of ground to cover, but you can do so at your own pace. Whatever parts of his toolkit resonate with you best and you feel like you do best with, stick to that at first and just really get familiar with that part of his toolkit specifically. This is going to be the starting point of your "map" from which you expand on later. Once you've got that familiar homeground to start from, slowly start working more things into your combos. Experiment around, find something neat, and start learning more little by little, expanding your knowledge of what does what and what can combo into what and etc. Don't rush it, let everything come to you naturally at your own pace. As you slowly start to expand your range of familiarity with what the character can do, you'll start to feel more ideas for what can work together with what, and you'll gradually see your skill level improve as you work more and more of his toolkit into your playstyle. Technically, the "correct" way to learn Dante is to play DMC3, then 4, then 5, as his toolkit slowly grows from game to game, but not everyone is going to have access to that and it can form some bad habits anyway. I think it's better to just slowly map out his capabilities in your brain, expanding your knowledge of his toolkit and working more and more of it into your playstyle at your own pace.
As someone who's recently got into DMC, the thing that humbles you the most is when you land a "good" combo and you feel good about yourself, thinking you improved, then do the deadly mistake of looking up a combo guide (This is even more prominent on Dante). Thats it, all your happiness goes away, u just saw someone with probably 3000 hours do a combo with moves you didn't even know existed.
POG Kaizen is pulling his devil trigger Also, if it helps- Vergil is actually one of if not the easiest (and strongest) character in the game. He just looks complicated cause he has all the tools of the other characters. Only better and easier to use.
dont even need to switch from yamato start to finish from human up to son of sparda if youre half way decent with vergil, closing distance, cleaving through hordes of enemies, superb ranged damage and an easy af style threshold ,the yamato's got it all.
Always good to see people get into dmc5 and fall in love with it This game is just absolutely fucking incredible, the combat feels so good, characters are fun and the story, if you know the context, does actually quite hit in some areas and makes dmc4 nero MUCH better. How you described Dante, man I feel that, he feels a big sluggish when you can't play him right but once you get into it, holy fuck he feels incredible. Style switching, weapon switching, using your entire arsenal for a combo, it just flows together so well and it isn't just thrown at you, you gradually get full access so you have time to get familiar with everything and once you digested everything you can start to really experiment and see just how much Dante allows you to do (I can't jump cancel though) Some months ago I did a dmd run, remember struggling with son of sparda vergil and Urizen, but dmd was a different beast, I ultimately beat son of sparda vergil without any buffs and it felt to amazing, then dmd fucking wrecked me, but I wanna try it again cuz it's so much fun
For a quick description of Vergil, he heavily rewards precision and intent. Concentration is a big part of his kit because not only do you need lvl 2 Concentration in order to do any of his 3 super moves (Judgement Cut End, etc) but you also need it to use his ONLY directly defensive block mechanic. Whiffing attacks depletes concentration. Sprinting within a certain proximity of enemies depletes concentration. Getting hit depletes concentration. Dodging/Tricking without reason (Ergo, without an attack actually being thrown at you) depletes concentration. Hitting attacks successfully and comboing effectively increases concentration. Walking towards enemies while locked on increases concentration heavily. Perfectly timing Judgement Cuts increases concentration. Perfectly timing dodges/tricks increases concentration. Dodging successfully at all when you would have been hit does, but if it's timed perfectly it gives more. Funny thing, letting him sheathe the Yamato (Katana) after certain attacks while in combat gives you extra DT to play with. Not too terribly useful but it's pretty cool. Vergil is all about mixing his individual components together into fluid combos and general combat. Using the Mirage Blades and Yamato alone is incredibly satisfying when you weave the moves together well. Adding in Beowulf and the Mirage Edge only compounds it. If you get serious about Vergil I recommend playing through the game (On an easier difficulty such as Human or Devil Hunter) with Yamato and Mirage Blades only, completely ignoring Beowulf and Mirage Edge. Feel out the Yamato's moveset and how to combine it with the blades, and then you can move on to the other two which are only really built to compliment the Yamato. For a brief description about the Yamato specifically, holding your melee attack button (Y on Xbox and triangle on PlayStation by default) will allow you to execute a Judgement Cut. You can do this after basically any attack, and most attacks have certain timings where you can perform one "Perfectly" where it cuts out any and all animations and does it basically as soon as you release the button (The attacks where this is a thing have two timings. One early after the move is complete, and another before he sheaths the katana). And you can chain JCs into each other up to a total of 4 times. This is used for juggling, converting and extending combos, and a lot more, and it functions as his bridge between basically everything else when it comes to fodder enemies. Vergil is all about juggling when it comes to fodder, as well. You want to keep the enemies in the air as much as possible, and his kit compliments that with every weapon having a myriad of ways to do so. Back + X (on Xbox) creates blades around the enemy you're locked on to, and once you release X it will throw them into the air incredibly high and enable you to do many things once that's done. Forward + X summons blades that stick into your opponent. It's primarily for damage but also juggles them long enough to get out a JC to keep them in the air even longer, or teleport to their position. Back-to-forward + X summons rain blades, which deal pretty heavy damage and also slows down time for the enemies hit, similar to Void Edge from the Yamato (Back-to-forward Y on Xbox) He can also summon blades around him by just holding X but that's decidedly useless as far as I can tell and can also throw off your combos. Pressing X also just throws them out there whenever you want and primes the enemy hit for a teleport without forcing you to teleport, like hitting B (On Xbox) would do (Where it hits them with a blade and immediately teleports you to them upon hitting). That's a general gist. Remember to always have intent. Every move you make should have thought behind it, lest you lose concentration. One last thing, though. Performing perfect JCs is way easier in the air. No idea why but it is. So when first learning, try and get the timings down in the air before trying them on the ground, otherwise you're making it harder for yourself.
my DMC obsession lead to me changing my controller grip and certain control binds for every game just to play more efficiently my pointer fingers now sit on the bumpers (L1/R1), my middle fingers on the triggers (L2/R2), and i have to bind jump to LB/L1 in most games i play now i'm kinda shocked my hands are still intact tbh
I stumbled upon this video right after I finished the game and tried out Vergil. I must say Vergil is way more beginner friendly than Dante. Good luck on your journey!
Nice that you are playing dmc now. I always tell people to take it easy with dante , he is really complicated especially in this game, but just try 1 sword 1 gun and 1 style then once you master them and learn some combos you can add another sword then another gun and finally you can try to learn royal guard
Exact same experience man. Playing Dante made me realize I had some learnin to do so I went back to play dmc3 & 4 first all like "I'm gonna at least get the legacy basics of this guy down to memory before I try to really tear into him.
coming from a new player, heres what i think about each charcater's gameplay nero: great idea, good execution. the customization that the devil breakers bring is super nice. he is easy to get a decent grasp on. i dont enjoy his gameplay personally, but its mainly nitpicks. dante: love him. the styles are fun as hell and each weapon is enjoyable to use. they all have a clear purpose and his SDT is one of the best things in the game V: people complain about him, but i enjoy his gameplay. he's the only character i comfortably taunt with. the familiars have lots of keybinds to memorize though vergil: best gameplay ive ever experienced, period. absolutely perfect, i couldn't find a complaint if i tried. shame he overshadows everyone though :,) edit: just gonna tack this on, i was completely in my comfort zone with dante's arsenal, because im a warframe player and im used to it.
This is an awesome video I still suck at dmc but it's really fun to see and it's cool seeing someone be able to grow in it so much, I gotta start looking up some guides
One of the best things to do as well is with all characters, or your favorite, practice parry timings, especially on furys the red teleporting guys. It allows for a longer combo and gives dt and style on the parry. Most enemies can be parried.
Vergil is right up there with Dante in the most broken shit to ever and he's honestly easier then Dante himself (hope you get round to him srsly busted), you gotta check out donguri990 if you ever want to see crazy style
Dante being hard to learn is very "DMC" of them. I remember in DMC 1, they really liked hitting the player with intense challenges and boss mechanics. Its my favorite part of the series, the challenges they put you in to learn and adapt.
Now I am not a veteran at this game, but I will say im somewhat experienced. And if theres one thing that makes me the happiest, its seeing new players get into dmc. I thought your video was great, and I'm so glad you enjoy the game.(dmc5 is my favourite game of all time for sure.) Anway I just wanted to say that Dante is a very skill based character. hes got all sorts of weapons and styles, it can be very intimidating. Even for somehow who plays alot of dmc 5, I still struggle with dante. I usually find myself playing nero more. Another thing I wanted to poitn out, was Vergil isn't as hard as you think. He has 3 weapons yes. But they have similar inputs and can learned pretty easily, except judgement cut perfect release. And Vergil's concentration gauge is reallyjust a passive buff to his attacks and gives him blocks against minor attacks. It does unlock moves for dt. but they arent hard to imput. Now finally I wanted to recommend playing dmc 3 first. as its the canonically the first game in series, and the dante gameplay is very digestable and more beginner friendly imo. Anyway sry for the long combat, I hope you enjoy dmc further!
I'ma be real, dude: Ive been playing DMC5 for over a year now. I'm experienced in the art of the Crying Devil. I haven't got a fucking clue how to fight with Dante properly. And y'know what? I'm okay with that. Few quick tips about Vergil: Concentration meter isn't as complicated as it seems. As you hit enemies and fail to be hit in return, your meter fills. This makes your attacks more powerful, and allows you to perform certain finisher moves with each weapon. Your gun attacks throw summoned swords at your enemy, and the animation for it is completely independent of Vergil himself. You can shoot at enemies without interrupting your melee attacks, allowing you to deal even more damage. His Devil Trigger summons the doppelganger you saw him use in the last two missions. This is extremely useful as it mimics your entire Yamato moveset, is literally invincible, and can focus on other enemies while you something else. His SDT is functionally the same as Dante or Nero's base Devil Trigger. Enhances your attacks even further, adds new twists to existing moves, gives you health regen, and gives you access to extremely powerful finisher moves (namely Judgement Cut End, Deep Stinger, and Hell On Earth). You can choose to expend your entire Concentration Meter to summon V and his familiars, who will all fight on your behalf while you do... literally anything else. It also heals you for a goodly amount of your health depending on how much concentration you had when you expended it, so that's nice. Judgement Cuts are Vergil's bread and butter, and learning the timing to execute multiple consecutive ones is literally the key to mastering him. It's the single best way to build up Concentration and DT. You can have both your Doppelganger and SDT active at the same time, and both of you can execute JCs. While in SDT, for every normal JC you would've done, 3 will hit 3 different enemies each, and your Doppelganger can add another on top of that, making a grand total of 4 Judgement Cuts, each rapidly building your Concentration and allowing you to use your finishers more easily. Vergil's signature style is modeled on Dante's Trickster style, but has elements of Nero's Wire-/Hell-bound ability as well.
It's pretty interesting to hear someone try out Devil May Cry for the first time, and try to comprehend what you can do with Dante. I got into the series this year, but I started with the Switch version of 3. Difficult as that game can be sometimes, I feel it does a better job easing you into Dante's moveset compared to 5, which kinda just dumps this complex character onto a new player and expects everything will click. One of the best decisions the series made was to heavily reward variance with the rankings. You're given a huge toolbox to work with, and the game expects that you'll utilize it. So many action games fall into the trap of having "best combo" to repeat ad nauseum, and I'm so happy that DMC gracefully avoids it. I have so much fun learning and trying out new moves and combos, and I know I still have a lot of ways to go before pulling off the stylish attacks more experienced players have pulled off.
I just found your channel not too long ago and been binge watching the yakuza vids, you got a really good voice and you make good content man good shit
the only way i was able to get S rank on every mission on demon hunter mode in the vergil fight (the dante one) was by learning royal guard. i would've had to use continues for sure otherwise. that was definitely my humbling moment
DMC is a franchise that encourages you to try and think quick in those sticky combat situations. Even after all the time I've spent playing it, I still haven't mastered Royal Guard. 😢
ye, these games are great replay's for that reason. i always get the most buck of it all once I do dante must die difficulty. first playthrough on normal and it's you getting accustomed to the new moves, mechanics and rythms, 2nd on hard is you getting it and by the end feeling like a master. and then 3rd on dante must die, is you as a badass being challenged by other badasses as to who is more of a badass.
Nah without swappable devil breaker mod, Nero just ain't got much going for him. Vergil meanwhile has a lot of unique features and combo opportunities, especially with doppelganger. His only big issue is how ridiculously op the ultimates are.
Lmao every new player when they pick up dante thinks he is gonna be simple and then they get hit with the info overload. Getting the hang of nero dante vergil and V makes you feel completely invincible
oh man i had the same feelings, even i already had hundreds hours in DMC3. Dante in DMC 5 get me frustrated... due of skill gap and so much-much time to learn him, and fil it gap.
As a V fan, a cool combo that’s easy to use is Griffon’s flank. Shadow’s attacks on airborne enemies. Then use the back flip move to keep them in the air. Also the ability to control Nightmare by jumping on his back and firing lasers like the goddamn Death Star is just awesome. V is underrated
If anyone is watching this video and is also having trouble with Vergil, it's quite simple learning how to defeat him. First of all, throw the Devil Sword in the trash. It is not very good in this fight unless you're good in this fight. Much easier using any other weapon. Don't use Kalina. Takes to long to use it. One thing I found that made it easier was to only attack when Vergil just got done with an attack. Don't melee if he's too far, though. Same goes for the fight in Vergil's campaign. These are some combos that helped me through; Using just King, do the normal combo, just keep hitting melee, then, when you launch Vergil into the air, use Ice Spike, then Revolver, but keep holding melee during Revolver, then, with the right timing, release melee and you'll zap Vergil before he could teleport or block it. I also had trouble in Vergil's campaign, but I easily found out a new combo for him. Melee four times, Upper Slash 2, Aerial Rave B but not the final melee, Aerial Cleave while continuing to hold melee, release at the right time and you'll instantly release a Judgement Cut, then just smack Dante a big if he doesn't get flung by the Judgement Cut. Also, for the fight as Nero, don't mess around, Nero ain't good in general, so, my advice, just use a Buster when you can. Don't bring a Buster Arm Devil Breaker because you literally get free, unbreakable Busters during and after the final fight
Dante's stances look intimidating at first, but aren't that complicated once you realize it basically boil down to "What does my O-button do right now?"
i just beat this game and playing as dante and then going back to nero is so cool it really made me feel like i got so much better at the game. keep up the good work luv ur vidz
I'm getting the exact same experience right now. I've played 4 before, but I just used Super Dante to skip what I coudn't do and when 5 came up and my Cheat button vanished, I had to learn him... I still use just DS Dante and Balrog, but your video inspired me to try the other Devil Arms.
Hey man, just found ya thanks to the algorithm. I honestly felt the same when it came to Dante even when I knew he would be complicated as hell for newcomers. However, I eventually got more used to the character even if I'm certainly not a pro with him yet. Just try to be patient with yourself and keep experimenting, that's my advice for ya. One last thing to note, I'll be honest in my opinion Vergil is a bit more fun to play than Dante and I see him as less complicated than Dante mostly because he doesn't have as many weapons as Dante and doesn't have multiple styles. The concentration meter looks daunting, but think of it as another style meter, when you get better with the character you have a higher concentration which equals more damage and speed. He also seems to be more friendly towards people that want to practice combos in my opinion. But hey, that's just my two cents, good luck with your devil hunting!
Devil May Cry 5 was my first ever dmc game and I gotta admit dante was a hell hole for me. he had 4 different weapons and 4 different guns and so I decided to just practice a bit in the void with dante for like a couple of hours and when i felt confident I went in and I noticed an immediet change, I also looked up tutorails and I just started just going left to right destroying enemies and getting some sick ass combo's and the thing is that once you beat dmd it is a lot easier since you will have the super characters which will help you if you go a bit to the void or the bloody palace have fun with them and they can also help you learn some mechanics because they remove the frustraition of the guages and stuff and once I felt confident I just started praticing more and more untill i could pretty much become like a very good dante player and then i practiced nero (he is a walk in the park) and then vergil who was very fun and honestly i enjoy him more then dante as is A LOT MORE SIMPLER and ye it isn't as bad as you think since you don't have to use all of the weapons for ez if you don't like a weapon you can easily remove it because that is the beuty of dante. There is no existing play style for dante since YOU ARE THE PLAYSTYLE you decide how you play or how you beat enemies and soon enough once you get like 600+Hours like I do you can pretty much just do everything with dante and should be able to learn all of his technique's
I never played Dmc 4 so I missed out on Nero. But I played the heck out of Dante in dmc 3 and it prepped me for dmc 5 Dante. I didn't know how to use Nero and his Devil Breakers (but now I do and I started to like Nero) V was really easy but a bit boring because I felt like I can S rank with V by just button mashing. I got sooooo happy when I unlocked Dante in Dmc 5. I was switching his styles and his weapons. I beat Vergil on the first round with Dante on Devil Hunter mode. All those years of dmc 3 paid off for me. It was Nero that I struggled the most with and he was suppose to be the easiest. 😂😂😂
When I first played dmc4 I also barely used exhaust. Now I can't look at other people play if they're not using exhaust, it adds so much to nero and it's super fun
I felt the same way playing DMC 1 when I was 7 years old I spammed the guns thinking that this is how I play the game imagine my surprise when I press another button and I do a sword slash
Great video brother. We on the same boat. We just gotta keep labbing, keep it stylish and we on our way to donguri (prolly DMC7 will be out by then). One tip I could provide if I may, is to just remember one move from each weapon then piece it up together. What I do for my BnB is 2 hits with DSD, launch in the air, 3hit air combo, JC, 3hit again, swap to cavilier, 2hit atk, swap to Cerberus to do revolver and JC into whatever
I mastered vergil and dante. I spam click every button i can on whatever opponent can eat it and pray they don’t have s for whatever i pull with sin devil trigger
I mean..... Like I know there are different learning curves and I've recently started getting into DMC with DMC3SE but damn.... After Finishing DMC3SE as Dante it feels weird to think people don't get how Dante works sometimes. I personally didn't experience any information overload, just a lot of awe. I was experimenting with Cerberus and Agni and Rudra getting SSS combos with Swordmaster and Trickster after I got the hand of it.... Which took me a couple minute.
3 being so much limiting compared to 4 and 5 is the reason why it doesn't feel that way. You can only select one style at a time as well as only 2 weapons and guns with each having much less moveset options than 5 especially. Playing with fewer systems and mechanics just eases the transition period and allows the player to play within the confinements of the rules.
My biggest issue playing as Dante especially in my first playthrough was getting Devil Sword Dante because as soon as he gets that all of a suddent sword master is worth using lol and i had to basically relearn what i tried to teach myself, which in hindsight was probably on purpose trying to force players to use other shit.
Speaking for myself.... DMC5 characters from easiest to hardest to play; V, Vergil,. Nero, Dante.... Funnest to play; Vergil, Dante, V, Nero. Vergil is basically a streamlined Dante. He has three melee's, 2 of which you're already used to.. mirage edge works exactly like rebellion/DSD... Some details aside, Beowulf works similarly to Balrog just slower/stronger. Yamato is unique but easy enough to master, fast area attacks. Vergil has 1 "gun" weapon his mirage swords that he fires like Gilgamesh. Nice and easy. The consideration bar while allowing you to do amazing super attacks (or 3 super attacks in SDT) isn't as important for his basic attacks so don't worry about it at first. V is easily could be the easiest the main thing is to keep you distance and decided basically which pet to summon to do a dodge when need and call upon Nightmare when you need something to die immediately. Nero while in some ways simpler than Dante does suffer in my opinion do to the arms. Constantly broke them, does get better after his upgrade (his glowing arms at the end of the game) I just never got into his groove very well. Now Dante is easily the most complex but also the funnest to play as but he does both suffer and gain from his vast arsenal. But once you get good at really; Trickster, Sword Master, and gunslinger. I thoroughly enjoyed this game and still play it.
I'm really not sure why people thing Nero is more complex than vergil. I assume it's because of breaker Arms but them being a temporary thing just limits what and how much you can do at any point in time without any way of regaining them. Vergil meanwhile, judgement cuts extensions, doppelganger combos, setup plays with mirage blade, void slash's unique properties, gilgamesh charge combos, etc. From my experience, people just brush him off as the op guy because of his ultimates and jc spam and end up ignoring all the other stuff he can do.
for dante you gotta know what all the styles do to your weapons or you'll just mess up the inputs, I'd say that's the most important part to learning him cause at least you'll get an attack if you're in the right stance
A bit of a shame, imo.
@@motivatedbyvergildantenero2315wait what. Thats how famous vergil is? Lol. Outside the fanbase, vergil is way more famous than Dante?
I'm mean if I can complete bloody palace with vergil that says how easy he is. Almost complete it with V but those damn fury at floor 96 got me

What dmc5 is really like:
Nero mains: haha buster arm go YEET
Dante mains: haha laser beam goes BRRR
Vergil mains: judgement nut never end and hell on earth go BOOM
V mains: when I press buttons, things tend to happen
@@SciFiEngineer875 Yes.
I honestly figured out Dante relatively quickly and find Vergil to be a bit more tricky because it’s much more about timing and the button mapping for him is weird
@@SciFiEngineer875 Dude I just love buster arm too much. I legit had a fucking dream about it when i didn't get to play it.
Vergil is overpowered as hell

As a Dante main all I can say is to just take your time and just try to master a style and a weapon and once you do you'll eventually get to know the true power that Dante poses hell it honestly took me 2 years the fully master him good luck and God speed
Took me a few days to get the hang of him. And that’s just after starting to play the games. I even pulled off a combo that sounds complex, but just requires timing in practice
The moment I read "Dante main," my fingers started to hurt

Oh, and after the post game Nero can use the Devil Breaker again, so have fun using that in combat as well
Man, i love the boxing moviments of balrog in dante's gameplay, i hope Capcom put more boxing moves in balrog in dmc6.
I don’t care for the boxing style of the Barlog so is tick with its other mode and it breaks shields really quickly
Dante is so cool that he's got so many styles, so many moves and so many weapons. Thats why he's hard to master. It took me 7 months to get a grip on Dante with fast weapon and style switching in DMC 5 PC...
bro i swear, Vergil is THE easy mode
Dante compilations are insane. You really gotta play the game for dozens of hours to learn some strings, let alone the enemy attacks and when to Royal Guard them.
As someone who just finished DMC 5. LITERALLY SAME EXPERIENCE DAMN
so y'all just bad at devil may cry?
@@BigBoss-u6c3v everyone starts at some point, there's no shame in accepting you were bad once, the only shame is mocking people willing to be honest with themselves and others.
Vergils boss fight turns DMC V into Super Devil May Cry 5 Turbo. It’s both frustrating and fun as all hell to fight him.
Ah yes, my favourite styles: Swordslinger, Gunmaster, Trickguard and Royalster.
POG Kaizen is pulling his devil trigger
Also, if it helps- Vergil is actually one of if not the easiest (and strongest) character in the game.

Always good to see people get into dmc5 and fall in love with it
This game is just absolutely fucking incredible, the combat feels so good, characters are fun and the story, if you know the context, does actually quite hit in some areas and makes dmc4 nero MUCH better.
How you described Dante, man I feel that, he feels a big sluggish when you can't play him right but once you get into it, holy fuck he feels incredible. Style switching, weapon switching, using your entire arsenal for a combo, it just flows together so well and it isn't just thrown at you, you gradually get full access so you have time to get familiar with everything and once you digested everything you can start to really experiment and see just how much Dante allows you to do (I can't jump cancel though)
Some months ago I did a dmd run, remember struggling with son of sparda vergil and Urizen, but dmd was a different beast, I ultimately beat son of sparda vergil without any buffs and it felt to amazing, then dmd fucking wrecked me, but I wanna try it again cuz it's so much fun
So when first learning, try and get the timings down in the air before trying them on the ground, otherwise you're making it harder for yourself.
my DMC obsession lead to me changing my controller grip and certain control binds for every game just to play more efficiently
my pointer fingers now sit on the bumpers (L1/R1), my middle fingers on the triggers (L2/R2), and i have to bind jump to LB/L1 in most games i play now
i'm kinda shocked my hands are still intact tbh
I stumbled upon this video right after I finished the game and tried out Vergil. I must say Vergil is way more beginner friendly than Dante. Good luck on your journey!
Nice that you are playing dmc now. I always tell people to take it easy with dante , he is really complicated especially in this game, but just try 1 sword 1 gun and 1 style then once you master them and learn some combos you can add another sword then another gun and finally you can try to learn royal guard
Exact same experience man. Playing Dante made me realize I had some learnin to do so I went back to play dmc3 & 4 first all like "I'm gonna at least get the legacy basics of this guy down to memory before I try to really tear into him.
coming from a new player, heres what i think about each charcater's gameplay
nero: great idea, good execution. the customization that the devil breakers bring is super nice. he is easy to get a decent grasp on. i dont enjoy his gameplay personally, but its mainly nitpicks.
dante: love him. the styles are fun as hell and each weapon is enjoyable to use. they all have a clear purpose and his SDT is one of the best things in the game
V: people complain about him, but i enjoy his gameplay. he's the only character i comfortably taunt with. the familiars have lots of keybinds to memorize though
vergil: best gameplay ive ever experienced, period. absolutely perfect, i couldn't find a complaint if i tried. shame he overshadows everyone though :,)
edit: just gonna tack this on, i was completely in my comfort zone with dante's arsenal, because im a warframe player and im used to it.
One of the greatest *"power rush"* in any game is when I only used royal guard to beat lighting sword.
Vergil is right up there with Dante in the most broken shit to ever and he's honestly easier then Dante himself (hope you get round to him srsly busted), you gotta check out donguri990 if you ever want to see crazy style
Donguri the goat
I've never played any of these games and I'm still here watching and enjoying
Dante being hard to learn is very "DMC" of them.
I remember in DMC 1, they really liked hitting the player with intense challenges and boss mechanics. Its my favorite part of the series, the challenges they put you in to learn and adapt.
Mans was really in the vc saying he ain't toaching dmc....
I tried the demo out and instantly folded after I finished it ngl
Vergil and Dante are the definitely the fellas to taunt ya for messing up their combos
Yeah I’m No Expert Either But DMC Is Heat🔥💯
I'ma be real, dude: Ive been playing DMC5 for over a year now. I'm experienced in the art of the Crying Devil.
I haven't got a fucking clue how to fight with Dante properly.
And y'know what? I'm okay with that.
Few quick tips about Vergil:
Concentration meter isn't as complicated as it seems.
I have so much fun learning and trying out new moves and combos, and I know I still have a lot of ways to go before pulling off the stylish attacks more experienced players have pulled off.
solid vid, honestly would love to see more dmc content
I just found your channel not too long ago and been binge watching the yakuza vids, you got a really good voice and you make good content man good shit
the only way i was able to get S rank on every mission on demon hunter mode in the vergil fight (the dante one) was by learning royal guard. i would've had to use continues for sure otherwise. that was definitely my humbling moment
DMC is a franchise that encourages you to try and think quick in those sticky combat situations. Even after all the time I've spent playing it, I still haven't mastered Royal Guard. 😢
People think Vergil is complicated but believe me Dante is more hard to master because of so many combinations of styles and weapons.

Once I figured out half of Dante’s moveset he ended up being the most fun character to play as
ye, these games are great replay's for that reason. i always get the most buck of it all once I do dante must die difficulty. first playthrough on normal and it's you getting accustomed to the new moves, mechanics and rythms, 2nd on hard is you getting it and by the end feeling like a master. and then 3rd on dante must die, is you as a badass being challenged by other badasses as to who is more of a badass.
Dante is more versatile and complicated and vergil is focused POWER
Honestly he's prolly less complicated then Nero, vergil is just a drug
Gotta use full custom, every style, including SDT 😈
My man, this game is your JAM
This was basically me when I played dmc 4 having fun with nero..... then u use dante and tell yourself "woah im bad at this"
Damn and my guy was on human those first 5 minutes
3:35 wuh, huh? that already fries the average dmc player's brain?
Dante's stances look intimidating at first, but aren't that complicated once you realize it basically boil down to "What does my O-button do right now?"
8:18 Nah, got ma boy stressed 😭
i just beat this game and playing as dante and then going back to nero is so cool it really made me feel like i got so much better at the game. keep up the good work luv ur vidz
I'm getting the exact same experience right now. I've played 4 before, but I just used Super Dante to skip what I coudn't do and when 5 came up and my Cheat button vanished, I had to learn him... I still use just DS Dante and Balrog, but your video inspired me to try the other Devil Arms.
I can't believe this your first time playing this game, enjoy it man you picked probably one of the best games of last generation
I call it a motivation meter.
Can’t wait for part 2!
Vergil is hold and release triangle and watch health bars dissappear
3:53 Well thats because the Dante tutorial is in DMC3 lol.
Vergil is easier to learn than Dante. Plus his World of V move summons V to do a bunch of damage
I have like 200 hours in this game by now and it still punishes me for not taking it seriously when I get overconfident
dmc is the one game where the gameplay humbles the cutscene action; watching people like donguri do crazy shit is so entertaining
Just so you know Vergil is a five buck doc to play as him and it’s awesome
When I first played dmc4 I also barely used exhaust. Now I can't look at other people play if they're not using exhaust, it adds so much to nero and it's super fun
Bro Dante experience is my first DMC experience as a whole on 3💀
Lets goooooooooooo Kaizen dmc!
I felt the same way playing DMC 1 when I was 7 years old I spammed the guns thinking that this is how I play the game imagine my surprise when I press another button and I do a sword slash
Imagine playing as dante and just pressing one button and expecting him to play himself.
A true journalist level braincell.
Good luck on your DMC journey, king 👍
Dude 5 is my first dmc i have no idea wtf im doing
For the life of me I still can't jump cancel in mid air. The day I master this technique, I swear I'm gonna abuse the hell out of this game mechanic
0.54 and that's why DMC is so awesome! it's the only action game that you play like a fighting game
I have this game in my library, but have yet to even download it. I gotta change that
Ah yes Dante, the fucking kitchen sink of character action games
Background music at 3:40?
Average reaction to that information
for dante you gotta know what all the styles do to your weapons or you'll just mess up the inputs, I'd say that's the most important part to learning him cause at least you'll get an attack if you're in the right stance
